I cannot tell you how happy I was to see that TIVO was recording this tonight! Watching Medeara Cake right now.
Set your recording devices for PBS tonight.

Black Forest Cake (what we call it in the US) is my favorite dessert ever. Heaven!

Thank you for the head's up. In my next life I want to be a world class pastry chef. Me too! I love cooking. But cooking as an art form - a dash of this, a pinch of that, etc. I am awful at precise measurements, temperatures and times. All the things you need to be an accomplished pastry chef/baker.

OMG! It looks like Biscotti will be one of the challenges next week. I love biscotti and actually do bake it from scratch. I can't believe bakes that I know 2 weeks in a row!

I'm a tweaker. I'll go off of a recipe, but I have to make changes. Though I never veer from a baking recipe. My goal this year is to make the perfect pie!

Yessssssss!!!! Thanks for the heads up. I just recently discovered this show and binge watched every episode I could find. Wish all the seasons were easily available somewhere.
The funny thing is that I don't really bake and don't eat much in the way of breads/sweets, but for some reason I find watching pleasant, drama-free British people baking delicious-looking things utterly compelling.

I was beyond thrilled when I saw that it was on last night. I'm not a baker myself, at least not a very good one, who knew watching others bake could be so fascinating? I love this show! Even after one episode, I already have my favorites.

DH and I are huge fans as well, but we have only seen one other season. Is this a new season, or a rerun of an old one? Either way, we loved it! Black forest cake, be still my heart!

Is it Season 5 or 6? They aren't filming until August of 2016 this season.
I too would love to go to pastry school. Wish I had have had shows like this when I was younger lol. I found a passion I never knew of through the food network.

OMG, my PBS station is NOT AIRING IT !! I was so excited to see this post, checked the DVR and it isn't recorded. Checked my recording list and GBBS already set to record with no shows scheduled. Checked the PBS site and, even though it is listed as starting July 1st, our station isn't broadcasting it?! I know I can watch them at through the PBS site, but I prefer watching on the TV over the computer.

If you get chance to watch Bake off Creme de la Creme it's definitely worth watching. It's a similar format to The Great British Bake off but competitors are professionals so some of the results are amazing. It's filmed in UK and has some very harsh judges.

They had an American Holiday Version last year and it was good, but our amateur bakers were so much less talented/experienced than those they get for the British show.

I don't think this was part of the franchise. I just found it on CBS. It was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy. The American Baking Competition and they were less experienced as well. It was entertaining though! The runner up was from Georgia and reminded me of a Paula Dean type. She was kind of treated as dumb in the beginning, but kept winning one or two categories each week. link

The American ones were not anywhere near as good as the UK or Irish one.
Going to search for creme de la creme...thanks!
ETA: Junior British bake off is filming July 23 to August 8 this year. No word yet on GBBO series 7 release date yet. ( asked my British friends)
