The Bloodhound's olifactory skills are so developed that when they smell chicken soup they detect the individual components such as carrots, onions and chicken, not the end product. When they are tracking a human with their nose to the ground, their large ears are funneling dead skin cells to their noses. We drop millions of dead skin cells and that is how they distinguish and track our individual scent.

This is more good news than fluff but last summer I was hot. I was so miserably hot. This summer, so far anyway, is cooler. It is cool almost cold at times. I am loving it and you won't see me complaining about it x 1000000. I am cool, happy and can't quite believe it!

Parkways (where you drive, LOL) are called that because in the old days there was a grassy knoll in the middle where people would park and picnic along their drive. (Presumably before the days of Cracker Barrel rest stops.)

When there's a double rainbow, the colors in the second rainbow are in the opposite order as they are in the first rainbow. Also, a rainbow, seen from above is a circle. Just took this one earlier in the week and you can kind of see the rainbow double at the top. SaveSave

For the first time ever since we've lived in this house, our bedroom (which was formerly an attached garage) is as cool as the rest of the house.

The BBC has a weekly feature called ten things we didn't know last week, it can featured some really odd stuff www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-36683448Number one on the list this week is that 10% of Iceland's population is in France at the moment following the exploits of their national football team. The team is playing France tonight for a place in one of the semi-finals and we will be cheering for Iceland as we want a Wales/Iceland final. There are a couple of very small school districts (A1&A2) here that don't have enough students to field an 8-man fb team (US fb), so they combined to form one team 2 years ago. Went to state their first year but lost. Made it back to state again this year and played the same team, so it was a grudge match and a BIG deal.
The capacity of the stands on A&A's side of the field was around 1200. It was full to over flowing. The total population of A1 town + A2 town is less than 900.

Ds11 picked a watermelon for me at the store today. He made sure to choose one with a big yellow spot because "those are the sweetest. That's the sweetest part of the watermelon." (I have no idea whether or not this is true) really? Where did you come up with this? "I read a lot, mom."

Whenever anyone asks me how I know something, I say "I read a lot", even, or maybe especially, if it is something that you don't learn from reading.

My dad's answer for every single "how did you know" was "I'm a detective." Which he was. But he kept saying it long after I was onto him. Thanks for this memory.

Not trivia but kind of funny. Our church got car magnets, the pastor was inviting everybody to take one. He says there's one requirement if you're going to take one... Don't drive like a jerk! If you like to cut people off and like to let them know how much you like them with a one fingered wave, no car magnet for you! 😂 So how many did not take one?

But I let dd drive home, she is in very early stages of learning to drive. I probably should keep the magnet off the car while she's learning. 😳😂
