My sister just called me and told me this....
They were at the department store today and going towards the purses... Sis is looking at some and mom is across from her and turns around and says to sis "LOOK at his Donkey and Burke purse, isn't it cute?"
My sister about fell down in a fit of laughter and mom realizes what she said and when mom starts laughing it's like a show in itself.. she turns bright red, the the fire engine sound comes out then it is quite before the snorting starts... ...
For a bummer 4th of July this year, this made my night...
(ALL my kids are gone, my baby with grandma, my middle on the beach in Texas and my oldest across the pond in a sandbox somewhere)...

Those moments are the best. I loved the hysterical laughter fits my mom and I would get in to.

Thats funny!
I remember being about 7-8 and going with my Granny to town (she lived on a farm in rural Louisiana). She was saying she wanted to stop and get a' buzzard'. She was constantly talking about how it would be our last stop so it wouldnt ruin in the car, etc etc. We had even brought a small ice chest with us, with ice, so we could take home one for my PawPaw. I was horrified thinking that she wanted to bring road kill home. I just knew she was going to scrape some poor bird off the pavement.
Yeah, she didn't mean buzzard. She wanted a blizzard from Dairy Queen! I have never been so thankful for ice-cream!

Eh? An explanation is needed for this Brit. For which one? Donkey and Burke should have been Dooney and Burke (it's a brand of expensive handbag). A Blizzard is an ice cream treat with candy and/or cookies mixed in.

Yeah kinda, she is in Oklahoma and I am in Colorado. We typically see each other about 1 or 2 times a year. With me on the job watch it's hard for me to afford to go to OK. She comes out here a lot but the trips are starting to dwindle as she is getting older. She is getting more and more nervous on the road. Still can drive just fine but you know.. gotta get in before dark and all that. Hopefully soon if my job situation straightens out, I will be able to go to OK more often. It's about a 12 hour drive.

My DD will be forever scarred after my mother loudly commented in the store in the mall " I just don't understand the appeal of all of this Tommy Hilfucker stuff!" DD was 14 at the time and quite mortified that the F word came from the lips of Gramma.

What a great story! My mom and I used to get into all of kinds of trouble during our laughing outbursts, since most of them happened at the most inopportune times!
