The neighbors closest to my bedroom apparently bought at least a million dollars worth of fireworks. It's 11:20pm and they haven't even begun to slow down. Started at 8:45. I'm old and cranky and just want to go to sleep.

I hear ya! My neighbors are still popping fireworks - but its 1:30am here!
My dogs are restless and tired of it as well.

Yes, not because of obnoxious nehigbhors but just because we stayed up to late with friends (celebrating inside).

Yep, it's after midnight and they have been going strong for over four hours now <sigh>

It's 3am here and it's still going on. I have to get up in two hours for work. We won't even get into the neurotic mess my dog is.

I agree, we did not get home until late and we both had to get to work early today. Yuck!

Yes! I think it was people on the next block. It was 2:30 am Sunday night when I finally closed the windows and turned on the A/C. Last night they quit at 11 pm. Still stinks! Don't these idiots work? I get up at 5:20 am.

Don't these idiots work? I get up at 5:20 am. That's what I'm doing next year. I don't care if it's freezing cold out. I should have done it and I didn't and now I'm tired and cranky.

Great idea.
We went to a community fireworks display. The traffic leaving there was crazy, so we got home pretty late. Spectacular show, though, worth the late bedtime!

We did just that - turned the AC on about dinner to help with some of the noise. We have an older dog who didn't give a hoot about it, but the 2yr old dog couldn't settle down. I went to bed about 10:30 and the people behind and over one house were still going at it. Puppy crawled into bed with me and stayed right up against me all night. I don't know how many times I saw the cops go up and down the block. Fireworks are illegal where we are at and with as dry as it's been, it really surprised me these people decided setting them off in their backyard was a good idea. But why would they care, they did it at the far end of the backyard away from their house etc, but right behind my neighbors garage. So tired today - with having to get up at 3:30 for work, I can' just tell it's going to be a great day

I was thinking the same thing last night. Luckily, things settled down around 11:00 pm.

Pretty sure this is why my sister held their huge party on the third this year. They wanted the day after to do nothing!

Agreed! Luckily last night it started pouring rain at about 10:30, so that cut off the fireworks, but I'm keeping my mom's dog and he's terrified of thunderstorms, so he kept me up going back and forth under my bed - which made my dog (pictured left) get up and down all night - she'd come around to my side of the bed and just stare at me like "um, what is he doing under there?" Thankfully, they finally settled down after DH got home around 11:30. I still overslept this morning though and had the mother of all sinus headaches. So crotchety today...

Last night was ridiculous! Safe and sane fireworks are legal in my county, but the amount of illegal ones going off until 2 am confirmed my suspicions that I live in the ghetto. Driving to work at 6 am it appeared as if everyone but me had the day off as there was nobody on the roads. I turned into a curmudgeon last night...I wanted to go marching around the 'hood in my nightgown yelling at those still setting off fireworks at 11 pm.

It is not dark enough here for fireworks until 10 pm so had to listen to them Sunday and Monday until after midnight. Of course they were all the illegal variety.

We got lucky and most of the people with the noisy ones shot them off on Sunday night. It was pretty quiet here all day yesterday and last night. You all need my new favorite emoji:

I agree; I'm worn out from last night, and I didn't even party. My poor doggy took hours to calm down after the neighbors stopped shooting off fireworks. He was so worked up that his stomach was upset, and I had to clean up after him 4 or 5 times during the night (this coming from a pup who has never had an inside accident). I'll have to figure something out that might help him before the next fireworks holiday.

They were still going on at 1:30 am around us. We have so many Indian reservations around here most of them were the super loud illegal ones. There were too many different areas that there is no way the cops could keep up with them.
And the German Shepherd Dog was a mess. The young Samoyed barked at them but fell asleep about 11:00.

We went to watch fireworks but did not do anything crazy but I slept horribly last night as did DH, he just tossed and turned all night. I am completely on board with July 5th being a holiday!

Fireworks are expensive

Our sub is only halfway built, another 1/4 are in the process of being built - think lots of unprotected wood. We also had a ban on fireworks in our township due to lack of water, but apparently no one gives a shit. I'm also now the bitch of the street because they wanted to have a bon fire, which I also pointed out was banned, but CLEARLY to rules do not apply to them (the special effing snowflakes).

Ours started around 9 last night and were mostly done by 9:45. Several local areas have displays. It isn't bad at all.

It is for me. The Army base where DH works is closed today. But he's in such a pissed off mood I wish he were going to work. It's gonna be a looooon day.
