Good morning ladies!! I hope you all had a wonderfully relaxing 4th of July weekend! My weekend was fantastic and dh is back to work for just 3 days and then he's on vacation for a week. We're not doing anything major just some small day trips. Number one on the kids list was to go into Boston and go to the Museum of Science. Soooo, we're going to do that one day and then probably the beach in Maine where I went last week another day. Not sure what else yet. This week is our local fair and we always go with my BFF and her family. There's a lot of thunderstorms forecast this week so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can go on Thursday. We'll try again Friday if it's rained out on Thursday. I hate the local fair as it's SUCH a ripoff. The wrist bands are Thurs & Fri and are $20 each for about 5 rides. I hate it but I know the kids really look forward to it because they get to see their school friends that they haven't seen all summer but ugh. The rest of this week there's not a lot going on. I need to get some workouts in and I want to see if I have everything I need to do some painting (window sills and doors). Other than that, not a lot planned. My eating was good yesterday and I got in some exercise but I'm back up a lb from my weigh in yesterday. I hate that it drops for weigh in and then goes right back up. LOL Oh well. I did have ice cream with the family yesterday but I logged it and was still well within my calories for the day. I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!! Keep up the hard work girls!!

Sounds like a fun week brandy327! We had a nice, relaxing fourth. Today is house cleaning and recovering from the weekend. Dd is leaving tomorrow to spend a few days with her bestie who moved away. Ds has the last two games of a rained out baseball tournament this evening. The semifinal and then hopefully the final. Dd signed up to work yesterday. OMG, that was worth her while. She waited tables for 4.5 hours. She made $190.00 in tips plus her hourly, which is a dollar more than minimum. She is planning on taking her cash with her to bff's house so she can shop and have fun. I ran yesterday, so today is a BBM only day.

Wow - where did the weekend go Seems like it went by in a flash! Saturday, I went running with a friend. It was cool out that day (60s) and when we started our run, it was starting to rain. The rain didn't stick around long, and it was a nice run. I got just over eight miles in - my longest run to date. I was happy with the run. Aside from a few times to cross streets, we only stopped a couple times - once for a bathroom break and once to take pictures at what we call the "selfie wall" - a cute, colorful mural that's painted on one of the local businesses. I was happy that I could complete the run. Monday we did a five mile race in town. It's one of the more popular races in town - starts at one end of town and technically, ends in another town. It was my first time running in it. I wasn't sure I was going to have someone to run with, because my friend couldn't make it, but another friend was there (same one from Saturday!) and we found each other at the start. The weather was nearly perfect - cool and overcast, but a little humid. I felt really good on this run. I kept track of our pace, so that we didn't go out too fast to start. There were some big hills in the last mile and we needed to make sure we had energy for that. The end of the race is on the field at the baseball stadium for our little local team, with people cheering us on. Several of my friends were watching and taking pictures. I beat my goal time and ran at a slightly faster pace than I did a couple of weeks ago in a four mile race (and this course was more challenging!) It was not that long ago that I couldn't run one mile, and couldn't even imagine myself running 3.1 miles. Tonight our summer half marathon training group starts. I was just telling someone that I hope I like half marathons because I have several already scheduled. Have a great day!

Hey ladies! The weekend went pretty well. Saturday was a rest day. Sunday I ran on the trail by the lake down the street from my house. Thankfully it's mostly shaded and by the water, because the heat is awful. Yesterday we did a hero workout at CrossFit (workouts named for people who died in the line of duty--military and first responders) called Zeus. I scaled what I had to and finished it in about 35 minutes--it's a long one! Today I already went to CrossFit, modified what I had to again. My wrist is still achy and lets me know when I overdo things. I am left handed but the world is so right handed-dominant I've adapted to doing so many things right handed! Food wasn't terrible, I ended up at 3 different bbq's. Overdid it on the sugar yesterday for sure. I brought fruit with dip and on Sunday I brought these little strawberry cheesecake bites I found on Pinterest--they were a huge hit!

Yesterday I walked on a trail beside the ice rink while dd was having her lesson and practicing- at my house skating doesn't stop for any holidays! Otherwise it was just a low key family day. It was a beautiful cool day for the 4th of July. This morning dh and I walked on a trail that I have never been on. Wowzers, I bit off a bit more than I can chew. I am still here to tell about it though, so I guess that is good. Forecasted high of 99 here so it's a good thing I got out and got it done. Have a great day everyone!!

I just took my own advice that Brandy reminded me of over the weekend. I have been up and down the same two pounds and finally saw the scale drop a tad lower. I measured myself today. The chest is exactly the same but I am down a full inch more on my hips and at least a half inch on my waist. Knowing I had popcorn AND chips yesterday and knowing my belly is a little bloated today, I'll take that!
Off to my workout!

Good morning!
I really wish I had today off. DH has the whole week off and I'm jealous!
We had a pretty laid back day yesterday. Some friends came over and we just sat outside and hung out. We did have an incident with a neighbor that is still bothering me, though. As you all know, I have four boys. They all love baseball. They play catch a lot and the younger two hit wiffle balls. So yesterday the kids and our friends son were playing catch. Friends son said he needed to get a ball that went outside of our fence and went to look for it. Apparently the ball bounced off the tarp of our swing set and over the fence. Well, a few seconds later a neighbor two houses down comes over and says, "that's it. Next time a ball comes in my yard or you guys are out hitting balls, I'm calling the police." We all thought he was joking at first but then he said he was serious, and that "they are out there hitting balls all day every day and he takes care of his stuff and doesn't want it wrecked." I asked if he was sure it was real balls and he said yes. Later he brought a baseball over that after inspecting it, DH and the kids said isn't ours. The kids said that they hit grounders to the younger two so they can practice catching them, but that the balls wouldn't get far out of our yard and if they did, they would be rolling in the grass. I understand not wanting balls flying in your yard but I feel it was uncalled for to have that kind of attitude and threatening to call the police before having any kind of rational conversation with us if there has been a problem. The other neighbor who was hanging out with us said that angry neighbor was probably drinking. I'm not sure if I should just leave it and not say anything or address it with them again. We have had a good relationship with them in the past and I would hate to have tension.

Sounds like everyone had a busy weekend! We did too. We went to Greenville, SC, and stayed. We saw Riverdance on Sunday with our girls and DD#2's boyfriend. We had 2nd row seats, and this was the 3rd time we have seen it during it's 20 year run. It was just as spectacular as we remember, and DD#1 and I wanted to stay to see the later show that night too. We can't get enough. We may get tickets to go again in 2017. Truly an amazing show!
I ate terrible though, and my stomach has been SO upset. I do not do well anymore with junk or eating off schedule. If the Gas X would start working, that too would be helpful. Ugh! Sorry TMI!
Tonight we are having chicken and a veggie so hopefully I will feel better. Have a great day everyone!

Just got home from my weigh in and lost .6 I know I should be happy with that but I was a little disappointed. I tracked all week, used half of my weekly extras and walked every day to at least 10,000 steps the past five days. I am a daily weigher and I think I need to step away this week. It messes with my head to much. I see a good drop and do slack off a little bit. Overall I know I am making better food choices.

Kind of spur of the moment today, the kids and I went to the $1 Regal Cinemas and saw Pan. I'm not much of a movie person but I really enjoyed it! The kids loved it too! My eating today has been horrible. I got up at 7:40 and made coffee and quickly realized if we wanted to go and see the movie we needed to be out of the house by 9am. So I got the girls up by 8:10 and hopped in the shower. I realized on the way to the movie that I didn't eat breakfast but it was too late to grab something on the way because I forgot that I needed to get gas. So we went to the movie, where I kept gum in my mouth the entire time, and refused to buy anything but a bottle of water. I decided I'd just go ahead and eat lunch when we got home. We got home about 12:45 and I decided to do my workout before lunch. For my workout, I decided to start with some minor weights. I have 10 lb hand weights and found this thing on Pinterest to follow. Ummm, I don't know if I was using weights that were too heavy or if I'm just a weakling but man I sucked. One of the exercises was 2 sets of 25 bicep curl things. I barely got through the first set and then the second set I only did like 10. And I couldn't even complete all of the exercises because my arms were like jelly. And then for cardio I restarted Week 6 of C25K. I BARELY made it through. I feel like I'm regressing in a big way. But I did make it through but it makes me a little scared for my next run day. Also, I woke up this morning with the back of my left thigh and calf with a pins and needles feeling. It's not really bad and originally I just thought I'd slept on it and that's what I had that feeling. It's still hanging around a bit but it's gotten better throughout the day. Any thoughts on that?! I did sunburn the backs of my thighs pretty badly the day I went to the beach (apparently my sunscreen rubbed off both times I applied)...and a quick google search did indicate that heat could cause it. And completely separate from that, today after I came upstairs from my workout, my right leg felt odd too..like the muscles or nerves were vibrating/shaking. It stopped pretty quickly (within 5-10 mins)...but it was just weird. Any thoughts there?! I will say that I was sweating profusely when I was done with that workout...like it was dripping off of me, something I haven't experienced before. Anyway, I did finally get around to eating around 2. I had 3.5oz of pork leftover from last night, a babybel wedge and some strawberries and grapes. It wasn't enough so I had a serving of wheat thins and a laughing cow wedge. I should be good until dinnertime tonight. I'm so glad you all did so well over the long weekend!! littlefish - Do you have a recipe for those?! I'd LOVE to make them when we get together with friends!! melissa - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You go girl!!

This is interesting.
OrangeTheory Fitness sends you a report after each session. THe report includes the calories burned, average heart rate and the percent of max that heart rate is, and the minutes spent in each heart rate zone. They just added weekly, monthly and yearly totals to the emails. So, since I joined on Feb 8, I've burned over 24,500 calories which works out to be 7 lbs if you use the age old 3500 calories=1 lb. Of course, that number is supposedly not correct, but I've lost a tiny bit over 10 lbs in the same period of time and I do attribute a good portion of that weight loss to OTF.

Hello
I'm back to work today and my gosh I have a lot to do. That's the only problem with vacation...you come back to so much work! DH doesn't go back to work until tomorrow and I'm rather envious he has one more day to delay the agony of going back.
It's in the 100's all week so it's treadmill running until Saturday. Today is incline work and arm weights. I registered for my next 5K which is in September. That keeps me motivated on my running. I also signed up for a coaching group at our local running store. That doesn't start until September but I'm hoping it will help me get to the next level of running which would be a 10K. The thought of running more than 5 miles freaks me out so I'm hoping being a part of this running group will be helpful.
I'm working on trying to get back to eating better. I tracked (sorta) yesterday so today it's totally back on track. I have 4 pounds left to make my goal weight.

I have had times I have lost 0.2 lbs., and I remind myself it was a LOSS! And I only weigh weekly--Monday morning when I first get up just in my panties. Yep, same outfit and time keeps it more accurate for me. Anyway, I know if I weighed daily, I would never make it but Brandy does weigh daily, and she does amazing at it. Then I know others that never weigh themselves and only go by how their clothes feel. You have to find what works for you. Brandy has found what works for her, and I have found what works for me. You will get there. You are doing great!

We had a really nice weekend. A picture perfect New England time. I started exercising (again!) I walked the dog on a pretty section of the rail trail on Sat., took her for a 40 minute walk on Sunday, and swam for 35 minutes yesterday. I feel really good today -- not nearly as achy as usual. I think it's the swimming -- it was so hard! I used to be a competitive swimmer, and boy oh boy have I lost it.
I'm still battling my fitbit. I sent another email to customer service and with some back and forth, they said they'd escalate it up and contact me again.
I'm trying to ease into this -- some baby step changes in adding exercise and cutting back a little on my eating. As time goes on, I'll tighten it up a little at a time. I get too overwhelmed and quit if I try to change too much at once.

OMG, I'm a tad sore and I still have 2 hours of work and a dog obedience class tonight. So happy I work from home tomorrow Sunday me and a few co-workers did a hike. It was brutal and we were all sore. I took my Samoyed and my 17 yr old took her GSD. I didn't make it up to the top, it was much rockier, steeper and harder then we thought. But it was still a great workout and my calves and back were both sore Sunday and Monday.

And it doesn't keep time. And when it finally syncs, it zeroes out all my data for the last week. And it has trouble charging. Can you tell I'm a little frustrated? I haven't tried to find friends through fb, but I suspect it won't do that either.

brandy327 If you're not used to lifting, 10 lb weights are probably too heavy for most arm exercises. I would start with 5's and maybe 8's- then work your way up. I still use 8's for a lot of my workouts.
It was a rest day today for me, but I didn't get any rest-just didn't exercise! I'm still eating good, but for some reason just feel like a blob!

I do a lot with 3 lbs (especially tricep stuff), and then ones that are working biceps I usually do 5. No shame in light weights!

Just an fyi, fitbit is discontinuing the flex in favor of the Alta, so if you're having issues with yours get them replaced ASAP before they are gone forever.

Just got back from my run......very humid even at 7:00 but it's a good feeling to get it over for the day.
Found out yesterday that the pain in my shoulder is a torn rotator cuff. Fear that I did it working out with my trainer. 😕Bummed about that. But, today is my 31st anniversary so I can't let too much get me down.
