We received a wedding invitation in the mail today and after opening it I immediately thought "over-the-top and tacky". Thing is, I DO NOT like the Groom. Really don't like him and don't know the Bride-to-be. Had the invitation come from someone I liked I probably would have said "how pretty". So, I'm owning it. I'm petty and I know it. Have you been petty about anything lately? In case anyone is wondering, no, I won't be going to the wedding. The Groom is a client of my husband and my husband will attend more than likely. We will give a gift; but I'm not going.

Haha, yep. I got an invite to my friend's dedication thing to her son. It's at her church, obviously, and I am not really a fan of them...like, at all. They are very anti-gay. I did not attend, but I did tell my husband that if I had gone, I'd have gone wearing the work button he received (our state color blocked into the rainbow) from his employer in support of the Orlando Massacre.

I got an invitation to my DH's cousin's wife's baby shower this weekend. This is the cousin's second wife (not that it matters) whom I have never met, spoken to, or been in the vicinity of. I'm sure she's a sweet girl, but damn... This screams gift grab to me. I would not have been at all offended to have been left off the invite list.
The bright side is that the day after her baby shower, I get to go to a family reunion where I might meet this girl. YAY!! (Can you sense my excitement?)
It's petty. I own it.

I try to curtail my petty attitude because it's so emotionally draining, but I have my petty days. One of mine is work related. It seems that a small group of teachers (and I'm one of them) take on all the after school activities and duties. Other teachers stay in their rooms till 3:25 and then they are out the door. I'm still working at my desk because I was just taking care of an after school club or serving on another committee.
Being petty probably makes me less pretty.

Yes to the petty, no to the pretty.
I am so tired of dealing with other moms at my son's school. I want to be involved by volunteering, I just don't want to be around them. I try to seek out the volunteer opportunities that are able to be done by just one person and jump on them!

Was it a normal invitation or did it have something tacky attached? It's not fun unless it's rude.
As for attendance, don't go if you don't like the groom. It's up to you. That you're sending a gift is more than generous.

Totally petty. (Not pretty.)\
Months ago, I reviewed a local seafood restaurant on TripAdvisor and gave 'em a pretty decent review -- 3 stars. Said I would be back. I pointed out some inconsistencies and actual problems, but basically said it was a solid effort by the cook.
Went back in March and had a terrible experience. Didn't post it on TripAdvisor because -- c'mon, growing pains. Trying to get established. It's rough to try to be a restaurant in a town that really cannot sustain more than 1 diner, a Subway, a Hardee's and a McDonald's. There's a terrible "barbecue" restaurant near the interstate that gets its "barbecue" out of a can, because they do not own a smoker. How it stays in business, I will never know. Not even Guy Ferry (a.k.a., "fieri") would come to these dives.
Today -- *today*, months after the initial, "Hey, this place might be decent" post on TripAdvisor, *today* the owner found out about social media and found my review. And he totally flipped his lid because I said the "cook" had done some "interesting things" with the cole slaw recipe.
So he posted some really awful things at me.
I dug up my photos from my terrible second visit to that restaurant, and I posted a new review. One star. With photos. So it's kind of incontravertible.
Suck it, bad seafood eatery owner!
Yeah, I'm petty. But seriously, that food sucks and it's overpriced.
