Good morning ladies!! I'm still dealing with some pins and needles in my left calf and thigh...doesn't seem to be any better or worse than yesterday though. I'm getting ready to get my workout done. It's supposed to be a hot one so I want to get dinner made as soon as my workout is done. It's sloppy joes and oven roasted potatoes and corn on the cob. I'll do the sloppy joes and the potatoes this morning so all I have to do is the corn later. I also want to get a load of laundry done this morning too. And vacuum. DH has to take his mother to the airport this morning and then he'll be coming home to work from home the rest of the day. Then he has only tomorrow to work and then he's on vacation!! I'm SO excited to have some time with him and the kids!! I'm back up 1 of the 2 lbs I lost...discouraging. But it's better than being up 2 lbs, I guess. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!! Stay on track girls! I know you can do it! ETA: I'm really enjoying the fact that my kids are taking an interest in cooking. One dd is currently making french toast to put in the freezer. Makes less prep for me if they'll make it!

I have been following Diet Doctor for the last month and have lost 9 lbs total. I started on June 6th and today is July 6th. The only thing I have done without is challah french toast when we went out for brunch. I would have liked that. If that is all that I missed then I figure I am doing pretty well. I don't crave sugar any longer. I haven't eaten any refined sugar but I know I got plenty of sugar from the peach I just ate. I am allowed up to 40 carbs a day and I am not getting that many.
One thing that is affecting my progress is having to eat at restaurants. I have had to go out a number of times in the last month. This month I hope to do better.
I wish I could say I exercised a whole lot, but I just started a new job and I walk at least 10,000 steps at work so I am getting exercise that way. It's just not the same as lifting weights and doing the treadmill.
Good luck everyone!

Hello my dear friends.
I have finally gotten real with myself and will be contacting a sports med doctor about this pesky right arm nerve pain. I am taking way too many OTC pain killers each day and it leaves me still in pain. A few months ago I did a round of steroids and prescription anti-inflammatory. That worked, so I am hoping I can get maybe a shot of something and a rest regimine for it. I need relief.
Dd is making her first ever solo road trip today. I know she is a good driver, but the freeways scare me. She is going 2.5'hours to her bff's house. If you could spare some good thoughts for her trip, that would be amazing.
It is currently thundering and turning dark, so I am thinking I will go into my classroom and do some setup after my BBM. Today is a run day for me, so hopefully I can get that in later tonight.

TankTop, my girls drive 3 hours one way weekly on a major freeway that I despise. They are good drivers too but it's the other drivers I get concerned about. It was the "other driver" that totalled my daughter's car in March. I do LOTS of praying. I will pray for your daughter today! I walked with my neighbor this morning. Holy cow, she walks far! And it's amazing how far you can go when you are talking and not realize it. When we got back to her house, she said "Thanks for helping me push and go farther today." Ha ha. It was her that pushed me!!! My buns are on fire. I need to walk with her more often! Off to cardiac rehab in a bit and hopefully that's all for the day. I have tons to do around here, and everytime I try to do it, something comes up. Today will be spent more at home I hope! Chicken for dinner and hopefully a great eating day.

Good morning! Yesterday was my first night in the half marathon training group. There were a lot of people! We ran three miles...and it was pretty hot! We've been lucky so far that it's already July and we have not had many hot days to run in, but that ended last night :-O With the heat and humidity it was tough, but I pushed through and did it. (I did get a couple of "breaks" when we had to wait to cross streets.) To tell you the truth, I was so tired yesterday, that I had fallen asleep when I got home from work. I did not have much interest in going for a run. Today is a rest day, but I will get some dog agility in tonight. My eating hasn't been the best since the weekend, so I need to focus on getting back on track and making sure I'm staying hydrated as well. My legs are a little achy after getting in so many miles in the past few days, so rest will be good for me. I'll use my roller tonight too Have a great day!

I'm at my dad's for vacation and I'm feeling very out of sorts. The food is fine but he's stopped keeping a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables in the house. He goes to the grocery store daily but he's so used to just buying for himself and my sister that he doesn't think we may need/want something.
Finally got shot to get some berries-I need some to help me feel satisfied and full. I feel bad asking him to get them as he's on a fixed income and they aren't cheap. He gets offended if we buy them so it gets uncomfortable sometimes. Dad is going to get some fruit today so I feel better.
I'm going to see a friend in a neighboring city today and we'll swim and cook out. I'm going to bring a fresh fruit platter. I'm also going to my bff's tomorrow for swimming and a cookout so fresh fruit it will be again!
We leave Sunday morning so I'm trying to keep my head in it. I'm second guessing my idea of going to a WW meeting this week. Part of me wants to, the other part says not to go, enjoy the vacation and reset on Sunday. Opinions? I really am on the fence about it.
Have a great day everyone!😍

I've had a great morning so far! I realized after being up an hour or so that my arms really hurt from my short weight lifting session yesterday. You gals were right - those 10 lbers are way too heavy for me. I'll start with my 5 lbers as soon as my arms stop hurting. I got 50 mins of cardio in and then showered and cleaned up around the house a bit. DD made cinnamon swirl french toast and I'm happy to say that I directed from the couch and didn't try even a nibble. Ran to the store for more strawberries since the girls want me to make fruit salsa again. I took the lazy way out and bought cinnamon and sugar pita chips because I didn't want to fire up the oven on a day that's supposed to be in the 90s (and humid to boot). DH should be home soon and he has to finish out his work day here at home. Then he has a meeting tonight in a neighboring town about a wedding he might be shooting (photos, not guns ). I have no other plans the rest of the day other than try to keep cool. We have some window air conditioners but they're not put in. I love the a/c but hate the enormous electric bills we get when we run them (we're talking close to $400 a month). We have the pool that really helps me to cool down so if need be, I'll jump in there tonight for a while. Dinner tonight is homemade sloppy joes and chips (for the kids) and corn on the cob. I will probably have salad too. I wonder how sloppy joe mix would be on a whole grain tortilla? LOL Maybe I'll do that and add just a little cheese and make a quesadilla out of it. All we have for rolls is white ones and I really try to stay away from those.

Afternoon!
DD came home last night (yay!), it's so good having her home.
I went back to the dr this morning to have my wrist reassessed. He wanted me to come back in if the pain increased and the last two days have been rough. The good news is that it is not broken (a hairline fracture wouldn't have shown up until now). He thinks I overdid it over the weekend and it's more ligament related pain. Orders to keep up the Aleve and keep it wrapped when I'm out and about to make sure I don't overuse it too soon.
Packing and laundry today--we fly out early tomorrow morning for vacation and to see my family.
Food is entirely "whatever is in the fridge that we need to get rid of before tomorrow." I also packed snack bags for both DD and I with things like nuts, Larabars, a veggie pouch for me and applesauce for DD, raisins, etc. Our one layover should have a decent selection of options for grabbing some quick protein between flights. I might pack my shaker bottle too with a scoop of protein if I have space.
Have a great day!

TankTop Hope you get some relief soon- nerve pain is no fun. I have herniated discs in my low back and get epidurals when I can't stand it anymore.
brandy327 Pick up those 5 pounders today, girl! Work through the soreness.
New workouts this week- 10(10)x10- 10 reps, rest 10 sec, and then repeat 9 more times- so 100 reps. Today is chest/arms- may not be too bad. BUT tomorrow is legs, so yeah I'll be whining.
Chicken again for dinner- I'll be clucking soon...

TankTop - I'm sure DD will do great on her road trip but I would be worried too. I make my 20 yr old call when they go further than a few hours in the car cause I worry about them. alexa11 - I am already clucking... we have had chicken for dinner/lunch for the past 3 days. Getting back into the routine of work/eating better/working out after being on vacation is tough! I know it will take a few days to get back into a routine but dang I'm tired. Plus some stuff happened here at work while I was gone and I'm a bit bothered by how our Board of Directors handled it. It came on the heels of my old job calling asking if I wanted to come back to work (which I don't) but the two at the same time has me really questioning things. In the past things like this send me to eating so I'm trying to take a healthier approach and put my anxious energy into running or a more positive release.

Thanks for the well wishes ladies. Dd made it to her friend's house. I downloaded the Road Id app on her phone so I could watch her and make sure she was on the right track. That was nice. I don't want to encourage her to text or take calls when driving, so she said this made her feel better knowing we could watch to make sure she wasn't lost.

For most purposes (health and otherwise) I think that being active for much of the day is better than being active for 30-60 min and then sedentary the rest of the day. As someone who has a sedentary job I find it depressing when I hear "experts" say that but it makes sense. Our bodies didn't evolve working out for only half hour at a time (or running marathons, either, which is also stressful on the body), they evolved doing consistent work throughout the day. So I wouldn't discount your activity that you do at work.
