I am fairly new to this board, but I can tell already there are a lot of us who are teachers. I am trying to keep track, and I was wondering if you wouldn't mind speaking up and telling what state you are from and what you teach. I love finding out about the different states' educational systems.
I am from Colorado and I teach fifth grade. It is my 27th year in the same building. We go back the 11th.

Former 5th grade teacher here. I'm no longer in the profession, but I still enjoy a good teacher thread.

I taught Jr High math until we had kids. Stayed home with them for 10 years or so and now I'm a part time substitute teacher, mostly elementary. It's a great job....no homework, no planning, I get to give the students candy (I have a 'signature candy' and all the kids look forward to it when I sub for them) , and I still have days off to run errands, go to appointments, help out in my own kids classes, etc.

High school sped and two other classes they haven't assigned me yet.
I taught an integrated preschool for 4 years and a class of students with severe ed in a separate, locked facility for the past 3 years. I've never taught higher than 5th, so this is an adjustment

You probably won't see each other that much during the day though.

We have three days full of training and meetings and then the kids come on a Thursday. We no longer get much time to plan before then. I go in quite a bit during the summer to get my act together.
