Hello everyone,
I just found out (or I would have posted earlier) that the new season for Naked and Afraid XL (2) has a preview airing tonight at 10:00 eastern time. They aired it on Sunday and I watched it-it was great! It did a little background on every contestant in this XL series (there are 12) what their experiences were like when they did their 21 days, and what their scores were like when they finished. So you get to know them all before it starts on Sunday.
It will probably repeat a bit (hopefully) before the Sunday premiere of Naked and Afraid XL part 2, but I'm not sure when.

I just ran across this on tv. What is the premise and set up of this contest? Survive 40 days naked in a inhospitable environment. Come out alive.

I just ran across this on tv. What is the premise and set up of this contest? I'm sorry I didn't get back to you until now. The premise of the show "Naked and Afraid" if you've never seen it, is that two people a man and a woman are set in a environment usually wild and very cut off from civilization for 21 days. It's a survival challenge. Yes, they are naked, but nothing is shown on TV, it's all blurred out. It isn't meant to have anything to do with sex at all, but everything to do with the challenge of making it more difficult for survival-being left without clothes to protect you from the elements, without shoes. That has a much greater impact than you would imagine. Each person is allowed to bring one survival item. Most people bring a cutting tool of some sort-a knife, and the other one brings either a pot to boil water in or a fire starter. The challenge is for them to stay 21 days. Either one can "tap out" at any time. They must hunt for their own food (they are given no food) and find their own water. They are given a map that shows a water source and a place to meet at the end of the 21 days for their extraction-usually a jeep, or boat or helicopter. They don't win any money, it's for the challenge of making it. At the end of the season last season the show decided to do a Naked and Afraid XL version where they brought in 6 men and 6 women from previous challenges all to one location and broke them up into 4 groups of 3. This time they had to stay 40 days. It must have been very successful in the ratings because on Sunday night they are starting Naked and Afraid XL 2-and new group of 12, and they are going to be dropped in South Africa in the wild. The show is shown on the Discovery Channel. They just finished their 5th season. I like it because I think it's the ultimate challenge in survival. Debbie in MD.

I catched a couple of old episodes. I cannot believe anyone would go on there. Plus there's no prize like Survivor or any of the other reality shows. I just remember the episode where the guy gets so sunburned that he'should literally red all over. Why do that to yourself?

I saw an old episode the other day. The guy actually lost 2 women. one the 2nd day cause she just said no way I am staying here and the second on the 38th day cause she had implants and 1 of her boobs broke.

The Naked and Afraid XL Preview repeats tonight Sunday the 10th of July at 9:00 Eastern time, and then the 1st episode of the new season of Naked and Afraid XL starts at 10:00 eastern time. So if you didn't get a chance to watch the preview season yet, you can tonight before the first episode airs. I don't know how to edit the subject line of my first post or I would, plus I'm leaving my house in about 15 minutes. I'm so sorry about that. If anyone else can do it for me, please do.
