Hey ladies!!! Sorry I missed yesterday! We got up at 4:40am and were out the door by 6am to head into Boston for the day. We were gone 16 hours and exhausted by the time we got home. We had SO much fun and I got my highest step count ever with almost 23,000 steps (12.5 miles). My eating wasn't the best but I didn't eat a lot. Breakfast was a bagel on the road with coffee, lunch was 1/2 of a personal sized pizza (split it with dh) and dinner was grilled chicken mac and cheese. And I also had 2 desserts - I split a chocolate lava cake with dh (a mini one) after lunch and then I brought home a mini chocolate covered cannoli that I ate once we got home. I have zero guilt for what I ate yesterday because it's not even a 1/4 of what I would've eaten in the past and it's one day. I have one more day where I won't have a great eating day...that's tomorrow. We're heading to Maine and I'll be getting my fish & chips or some sort of seafood. Last year on vacation, we ate out EVERY dinner for 8 or 9 days. So this vacation is a HUGE change. We'll only be eating out a few times. Official weigh in sucked yesterday - up 2 lbs. But my period also started late last night so hopefully that will help for next week's weigh in.
I probably won't be starting a thread tomorrow (or if I do, it will be later in the day) because we're heading out around 6am to go to Maine. Feel free to start the thread without me!
Have a great day ladies!!!

Awesome step count @bramdy327! I think your eating sounds in line with a controlled vacay day.
Today is a lazy at home day for me. I will do my BBM, but other than that I am just going to tinker around the house.
I painted my kitchen over the weekend. Actually, I painted the kitchen, half bath, and our little back hall. I HATE IT! I spent weeks choosing a color. Painted sample spots, etc... I have actually painted this area 3 times in two weeks. First time the color was awful. Second time the paint store mixed the color wrong, and this time I hate it.
Seriously. I am about to drive myself mad with this. I can't decide if I am just overly picky, scared of commitment, just hate change, or it really looks awful.
I am going to live with it for awhile and see if it grows on me, but I doubt it.
How in the world do you choose the right color of paint when nothing looks the same on a wall from the chip. Even buying sample pots doesn't help because once it is in a larger area it changes. GRRRRRR

Wow Brandi, that's a crazy amount of steps. Great job! Did you ever think you'd be able to do that 7-8 years ago? You're an amazing person.
I started Katie's (from runs with cookies) beginner running plan. I'm not really interested in being a serious runner, but I'm a little bored with walking. Adding in a minute of running here and there is kind of fun. My dog is happy about it too. I've been taking her on a rail trail walk that she loves.
My eating just plain sucks. We've had a lot of chocolate in the house, and I've eaten a lot of chocolate. Let's see if I can limit myself to one small piece a day. I'll try that for a few days, and if that doesn't work I'll toss it. Fortunately, we're in the middle of CSA season, so I have a fridge full of fruit and vegetables.

Good Morning!
I'm off to DMV to get a new drivers license picture taken. My current picture is 50 pounds heavier and I'm ready for a new one. It's the only time going to DMV is even worth it!
Yesterday I got a new work picture - it's crazy to see the two pictures side by side.
I think I overdid my running the last 3 days. My hips are hurting again. I'm going to just walk the next few days and see if the pain goes away. That's what I did last time and it worked.
Still struggling with the last 3 pounds to get to my goal weight. No matter what I do, they keep hanging on. It's rather frustrating! I even gave up wine - that's how desperate I am.
brandy327 - that's an awesome step count. Boston is probably my all time favorite city. Sounds like you guys had a great day.
TankTop - I'm a color phob when it comes to house walls. Our whole house is in a light mocha brown and I will probably never change it because I am afraid of color. I feel your pain with picking the right color for your kitchen.
maryannscraps - I haven't heard of that running plan before. I suggested couch to 5K for a friend but she isn't at the point she can run so maybe this one would be better for her. I will google it.

needmysanity Thanks for sharing those photos! What a fabulous comparison! I have a helluva time as well with wall paint colors. I had my best luck painting giant squares of the options onto the wall in question. It took me several days of living with 6 different 2x2 squares of color on the wall before I made a choice. I feel your pain, TankTop !! Yesterday I swore off processed sugar. It's been creeping up on me again. Mainly Pepsi and sweet alcoholic drinks like Mike's Hard lemonade. It just makes me feel draggy! But I love the taste! I found a nice breeze at the nearby track and walked over an hour last night. Everyone (there were only 4-5 of us total) was running, and doing the bleacher stairs. I was the only walker. I switched it up and went clockwise after a while, against everyone else's COUNTER clockwise, to see what the ramifications were of going AGAINST the grain. That's right! I do what I want. There appeared to be no ramifications, for those of you keeping a spreadsheet.... I started attempting squats and found that my 6 months of walking have apparently completely bypassed using those front muscles on my thighs (quads?). How can that be? Just feebly squatting 10 times with only my own body weight, and I'm sore!

Hi everyone! brandy327 WOW impressive step count! WTG on the eating out plan! Sounds like you made great choices that allow you to actually live and enjoy food while not going nuts (like I do! ) TankTop I'm actually pretty good at picking out colors and they usually end up looking like I imagined on my walls. I have had a couple of fails, but nothing that I can't live with. I hope you find a color you like soon! needmysanity WOW! What a great comparison! You're looking great! Hang in there with the last few pounds---they'll come off, it just may take a little longer than expected. maryannscraps I'm going to check out that running program. I have no desire to become a serious runner, but adding some running here and there would be great once I'm at a point that I need to add a little something to my exercise. sharlag HA! I love your little "disobedience" on the track! LOL! You gotta keep your workouts interesting! Sugar is my Achille's heel as well. I need to get it out of my system or I just have an awful time of it. As for me, I'm FINALLY back from vacation. I think I did a fairly good job and keeping things in check. Friday, things went a bit downhill and by Sunday, I was a bit of a disaster with the snacks in the car on the ride home. Somehow, I managed to be lower than my last recorded weigh in at WW when I weighed at home yesterday morning. I'm ok with that! Granted, I still have a couple of days until I weigh in and if I'm up, I'm up. I'll live! I took my car into the shop yesterday 'cause we ended up with a slow leak. I declined the courtesy ride home and walked 4 miles back home. Felt pretty good about that. I did a walk with my neighbor this morning after dropping my dd off at her summer geometry class. I'm going to have to miss my evening exercise class due to swim photos being taken at 6 p.m. I usually go from my one son's Speech therapy appointment straight to my class that starts at 5:30. He has swim practice at 7 and I'm done by 6:15. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get him to the picture on time if I go to my class, so I'm going to do some weight work at home after I drop him off at the pool. Anyway, into the shower I go! I'm a little sweaty! Then I need to get some lunch and get out the door to afternoon appointments! Yay! Being a mom is SO.MUCH.FUN. some days...

Hello! Not a whole lot to report- no weigh in allowed for another week or so. I took a well needed rest day yesterday but am getting ready to use the rowing machine and sweat my face off. I bought peaches from Georgia yesterday- 25 pounds. I foisted some of them off on my neighbor but I will have peaches in the freezer all winter for smoothies. It's been years since I had a decent peach but I'm hopeful these will be good. I got them from a truck that comes from Georgia to our ACE hardware store. I was 10 minutes early and still waited it line for 20 minutes. Apparently I'm the only one learning about this truck because it was a mob scene! TankTop I so feel for you. I painted the kitchen in our old house & hated it, I picked a second color, my husband painted it and I hated it. We were both too tired to paint it again and we sold the house a year later. When we finished our basement in our new house and were forced to pick paint, I painted a poster boards and moved them all around the house day and night. Those chips are too risky for me. I also looked at the paint color on Pinterest. But I'm a neutral girl. needmysanity I love your new pic! You look great and that three pounds better watch out!! brandy327 keep up the good work and enjoy your vacation! 23,000 steps is quite an accomplishment! When I accomplish hard things, it helps my confidence so much!

I got my highest step count ever with almost 23,000 steps (12.5 miles). Awesome! That's great!! Seriously. I am about to drive myself mad with this. I can't decide if I am just overly picky, scared of commitment, just hate change, or it really looks awful. I am trying to convince myself to paint something this summer, but I just can't make a color commitment. I started Katie's (from runs with cookies) beginner running plan. Good luck - I hope you enjoy it I think I overdid my running the last 3 days. My hips are hurting again. I'm going to just walk the next few days and see if the pain goes away. That's what I did last time and it worked. Don't forget about myrtle exercises! Also, look at yoga moves for runners; lots of hip exercises. I found a nice breeze at the nearby track and walked over an hour last night. Good job!!! Well, I went from having a really good run on Friday to an absolutely awful run on Saturday. I walked most of it...just couldn't get myself motivated to run. I was very discouraged and I can't explain why. I think the reality of my first half marathon (coming this Sunday) is settling into my thoughts. I don't think I'm really ready for this race and I get frustrated with myself when I work so hard and not seem to make progress. I described it as not knowing if I'm making "slow but steady progress" or if "this is as good as it's gonna get." Got a very nice encouraging message from my coach, along with one from a friend, which meant a lot. Haven't run since and have a training run tonight.

brandy327 Wow- that's a lot of steps!
TankTop Like sharlag- I lived with patches of different colors for awhile until I finally made a decision.
needmysanity That's a big difference!
maryannscraps- I wanted chocolate and picked up a 90% cocoa Lindt bar. OMG -tastes nothing like chocolate, but I'm getting used to it-lol
I have started adding cardio everyday- 30 minutes on dreadmill for 2 miles. I am almost running and my shins are starting to hurt! Also cutting out fruit except for 1/4 apple each day. If these 2 things don't flatten this belly- along with all of the other stuff I do- then I quit!!!

Just checking in. Been getting my steps in most days. Today might be a challenge because it is so hot out and I have a church function tonight. If I get back before its dark then I'll get my steps in. The pokemongo app is definitely helping with that. I stayed away from the scale all week, it was hard! I think I'll give it another week and see how that goes. For me the scale was messing with my mind to much. If it showed a good loss on any given day I'd slack off with my eating. I had my WW weigh in this morning and I was down 2.4 so I was happy with that. brandy327 that's an awesome step count TankTop I too am commitment phobic I think. I hate change in anything really. Our front room and kitchen is in desperate need of repainting and I've been stalling big time. The thought of picking colors out sounds fun but actually pulling the trigger and doing it. Yikes!

Want to hear the sad part? I did that. Plus I painted the entire wall between the upper and lower cabinets with the color I went with and lived with for a few days. It looked amazing there. It looks so different all spread out! Grrrrrrr!

Wow! @needsanity, that is a fabulous illustration of your hard work!
i am another one struggling with the eating. I wish calories eaten while at work did not count. Last night was an insanely insane night at work and there were far too many snacks available. I was happy to have an ice cream bar (250 calories) after finishing some particularly tough work. I had plenty of calories left, so no issue. But, that was just the beginning of the night. When you think you've seen it all, then something else happens and that was in addition to a generally busy night. There were all sorts of chips out (had a few Fritos more than once) and tons of candy (Swedish fish were my weakness). It was definitely stress eating. Doesn't help that I did not bring anything myself. When it is not as crazy, it is much easier to not overdo it. And, nights when I get to sleep at work are also much easier! LOL. I suspect I'd weigh less if I did not work nights. I know that is well proven in studies and I am just confirming what research shows. Nothing like being a statistic!

Feel like a big ole sweat ball today, we had crossfit at work again. Third class completed - wooohoooo!!! Not bad for a fat old lady The gym staff that come down to instruct are awesome. They call you out by name but not to yell at you, it's all encouraging, high fives and kudos. I hate going to gyms where they make you feel bad even though you know you are trying. These guys/gals are good about making sure we have the correct form, letting us know when we don't and encouraging us when we need to modify.

I read Katie's runforcookies.com blog, and it's just a 12 week program to work up to 30 minutes of running. But first you need to work your way up to 30 minutes of walking three times a week. We'll see if I actually follow it for long -- it's supposed to be in the mid 90s here for the rest of the week, and I absolutely hate the heat.

Hey ladies!! Checking in after another long day. We SWORE we were not going to pack dh's vacation time with stuff every single day but apparently we're liars. LOL Thursday night we did Secret Life of Pets because it rained (we were supposed to do the fair). Friday night we did the fair. Saturday we didn't really do a whole lot. We were supposed to do the fireworks but it poured so we skipped it. Sunday we walked with the kids in the parade (in the rain). Yesterday was Boston...today we didn't do much this morning but left around noon time to drive 2 hours to this college in western Vermont so we could do family photos there. We were only 10 mins from the NY border so we drove to the first town over in NY for the hell of it. Did our pictures, found a place called the Chocolate Barn and had homemade ice cream, then drove home. We didn't make it back home until 8. I did pack our lunch though and we ate that around 3:30. So between the late lunch and ice cream, I didn't have much for dinner. I had a couple of pieces of deli turkey, a babybel light wedge of cheese and a few cheetos. Yep, I had Cheetos and they were delicious. Tomorrow is Maine, Thursday is an at home day. My dryer decided to crap out...well not completely. We think it's the heating element. So dh ordered the parts and they'll be here on Thursday so that's our first priority. Then it'll be doing stuff around the house. I'm not getting in NEARLY enough water and that's due to being in the car so much. I just cannot get myself to drink a lot when I know we're going to be on the go so much. I know I should be drinking MORE water then...but it's SUCH a huge inconvenience to try to find a bathroom. maryannscraps If you would've told me even 2 o 3 years ago that I could walk 23,000 steps in one day, I would've never believed it! It's been freeing in SO many ways these last few days...everything from walking all those steps to knowing that when we rode the Subway, I could EASILY fit in the seat and not have to worry that I wouldn't. And knowing that even though I wasn't eating perfectly, I could control myself enough to enjoy what I wanted but not eat ALL the things I wanted. There were SOOO many food options at Quincy Market that before I would've bought a ton of stuff to take home as well as stuffing myself completely while I was there. I ate but never to the point of being overfull (something I've struggled with all my life). It's just been AWESOME!!!! I have some photos that we took in Boston that I want to share in a comparison but it'll have to wait until later in the week!! LOL I see a few of you are struggling...you're not the only one. I'm finding that the processed foods are creeping back in...and I'm not sure if that's because of vacation or if it's me being lazy. But I will guarantee you that come the end of vacation, I'm going right back to being super strict about processed foods and sweets. Until then, I'll enjoy myself but not to the point of complete crash and burn...and I'll continue to get workouts in at least every other day.

STBC I think it was you on one of these threads a few weeks back who recommended the Myrtl routine - I've been doing it along with the C25K program, and OMG is it making a difference in my hips. They have really been giving me problems, but that routine 3X a week or so is really helping. THANK YOU.
