I was just perusing Amazon to find more Prime deals and I came across a Brother serger. It's a waitlist item and I really don't need one -- or do I?
If you have a serger, do you use it? Do you like it? The reviews of the one I was looking at said it's a good first serger. I've been curious about sergers for years but I just don't know if I need another piece of equipment other than my sewing machine.

Have it, love it! It's even better price then when I bought it a couple years ago. I love having it, makes finishing seams so much easier!! I almost bought a second so I could have one set up just for doing rolled hems.

I have one and use it mainly for garment sewing. It does a great job with finished seams. Mine is really underused and I know I don't use all the features. If you sew a good bit, especially garments, I think they are worth having.

I've had mine for about 35yrs. Now that I'm doing more sewing I'm seriously considering upgrading to a new one with more features.

I had one but really didn't use it much. My brother borrowed it (with my permission), my sister stole it from his house, and she eventually gave it to my niece (other sister's daughter). As it turned out, I told my niece she could keep it if she thought she could use it, and she has. If I start sewing more clothing, I might get another one at some point. It is nice for sewing finished seams.

I use it constantly. It changed everything for me with sewing. Of course, it also led to me buying much more fabric. Just a warning. I do wish I had not waited so long to buy one. I took a class last summer that required a serger. I bought it locally and it included a get started class. Have been sewing leotards and clothing constantly since. The Brother serger that is on sale is very popular. There's a Facebook group for that serger.

I love my serger. I wouldn't like to sew without it. I have a Janome.

I have 2!! I had my Brother and then when my granny passed I got her Bernina. Hers does fantastic rolled hems so I have it set up for that and I use both regularly.

I have a very old (maybe 20 yrs old) babylock serger. It works fine but it's old and hard to thread and sometimes the foot pedal makes a weird sound. But I can't justify replacing it yet. Soon though. When I do I might get a serger that also does a cover stitch.

I have an air thread baby lock which I bought so I didn't have to deal with all the tension issues I had on my pfaff. Absolutely love it. If you don't get a free class when you buy your machine there is a great Craftsy one

My dad bought me one when I was doing a sewing class. Loved it! (I haven't used it in years, though).

I have one. I haven't used it in quite a while truthfully, because I haven't been sewing. I used to make almost all my son's clothes, a lot of mine, and many gifts. I loved the serger. It makes your pieces look so much more finished and clean.

Not that I do much sewing any more but when I did, I could not live without my overlocker. It is essential as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, and I use it almost every time I sew.

I use mine rarely but when I do I'm so grateful to have it. I have a project that needs it to do on Friday.
I went years without having one and got everything done just fine. Nice to have, but not a necessity.

But having one just takes your finished items up a notch. cmhs - did you end up ordering the serger? Save

I have one, and I love it! I haven't used it much lately as I haven't been sewing much. I use mine a lot when I am making tote bags or stuffed animals.

yes, and it's a game changer for me. I sew knits. I use it more than my regular machine. Make sure you get one that is super easy to change threads.

Not sure how the waitlist thing works since I've never used it before. So, I missed out on the great deal yesterday but I will definitely keep my eyes open for another one. I really want one now!

So, I missed out on the great deal yesterday but I will definitely keep my eyes open for another one. I really want one now! That's a bummer. Now that you know you want one, you can do some more research and be on the lookout for a good deal! As for the notifications, that happened to me on another item. Not sure why they had that option if it wasn't going to let you know. I just happened to remember it and went to check it out. Turned out it was only 20% off the regular price so I passed on the item (machine embroidery thread set). Save

I got a Brother from Amazon and I'll bet it's the same machine. I love it. I bought it two years ago to make my dd's wedding dress. The serger made everything easier and it was a life saver with the sheer blouses for the bridesmaids. I would have had to do French seams for the blouses without the serger. ain't nobody got time for that, especially for blouses that were probably never worn again.
I still use it quite a bit when I have time and energy to sew. It's especially nice for knits. My sewing machine has a great stretch stitch, but it's 5 times slower than the serger.
