What is your favorite bag for carrying things to and from school? I am not looking to spend a lot.
Thanks!

Do you think you'll be carrying a lot of stuff home to grade? A lot of people use a rolling cart if they're lugging heavy stuff around.
I have a canvas bag from LL Bean that I use most days.

I bought this near the end of the school year after destroying yet another leather bag. www.target.com/p/french-bull-travel-tote-vee/-/A-26390445It's really rugged and sturdy. I've also used it on a couple of flights as my personal item. It has plenty of pockets and the lining is easy to clean. It's cheaper than any of the bags I've used for school and seems like it'll hold up better. It's big enough to hold my iPad Pro, MacBook, wristlet, and a bunch of other crap. Haha!

I'm not a teacher, but all of my teacher friends swear by these bags by Lands End. They have a 100% warranty where they will replace the bag if they tear, zipper breaks, etc.

I have a Vera Bradley commuter tote in black microfiber that I've had for years now. It wasn't cheap-- I think I spent about $100 on it, but it has really held up and it looks nice. It has a pocket for my laptop that closes with velcro, and has a zebra lining. The handles are starting to wear, and I'm getting a little tired of it, but I can't justify buying a new one right now.

I have a medium tote by 31 bags. I also use the large tote or the standing tote.
I love 31 bags. They hold up well and I can stuff them full (I am not a consultant, but as much as I spendo I should be).

My thirty one bag is a nasty mess. I'm looking for something easier to clean and I like what sock posted!

I use a jansport backpack for my teacher bag. Fits everything! I have my grading binder and lesson planner and purse in the large back pocket. My laptop/ipad goes in the front large pocket. My gazillion pens/pencils/erasers/whiteout/hairties/clips/whatever goes in the small top pocket. My water bottles fit in the front large pocket. The side to side very front pocket gets my pads/extra hair ties/kleenex. It's awesome. I also frequently dump it out and use it for a weekend bag. I don't have the water bottle pockets on the sides of mine. www.jansport.com/shop/en/jansport-us/all-backpacks/cool-student-backpack-js0a2sdd?variationId=003

I am a nurse and I swear by Vera Bradley's totes. Namely, the Vera tote is fantastic! Not only is it very durable, it's washable and also comes with several interior pockets and two exterior pockets. The newer version, Vera 2.0, comes with a zipper closure. I scour eBay for older prints and have purchased two brand new totes for less than half retail price ($86). My first tote carried me through clinicals and still looks brand new, and my newest tote holds everything I need to get through a 12-hour shift.

I have a few options. One is a North Face backpack that I've had since 2006 and is still going strong... It was a Christmas gift when I was in high school, but I'm now going into my 5th year of teaching and I end up using it for a few stretches of every school year - especially around report card time when I seem to be carrying more back and forth.
I also have a Longchamp Le Pilage tote that I LOVE. It is great because it looks more polished than the backpack but holds up well. I can easily get my laptop, a binder, and an Erin Condren notebook in there with room to spare for a book or two.
Lastly, I have a few 31 utility totes that have been gifts over the years. I wish they zipped, but the pockets are nice. If you google "31 teacher bag file box", you'll see some great set ups.

I go through phases. Frankly, sometimes I just pitch the whole pile of cr@p I need - en masse - into one of these fabric baskets, instead of expending the effort needed to compartmentalize in my veddy-pricey-multi-pocket-real-bag. And there's still room for lunch, purse, laptop, iPad, and whatever weirdly shaped oddity I need that day. Yes, it looks as dorky as you are imagining it does.

I have two lands end totes, one medium and one large. The medium is about normal tote bag size and the large is like a giant tote bag. They are very durable!

I have a ton of tote bags of all kinds, but this last year, since I was working in two different buildings, I switched to a rolling tote bag. I have to lift it in and out of my trunk each day but I love not having to carry anything; it has a mesh pocket where I can stash my water, and I throw my purse and lunch bag in on top of whatever else is in there. It's a long haul from where I park to get to either of my rooms and it's a lot easier on the neck and back. I don't usually take things home to work on, but there are things I want to have available no matter which building I'm in. I usually leave it at the elementary on Thursdays, since I'm coming back to the same place the next day.

I have a Vera Bradley bag. I bought it at an outlet so it was a little cheaper. I'm ready to buy a new one but will probably but another Vera.

Depending on your budget, I'd recommend this bag from LLBean: Carryall Tote It's been my "teacher bag" for 10+ years and has served me well as my daily commuter bag, overnight bag and as my carry on bag for trips in Europe and Asia. Can't recommend it highly enough. And since it's nylon, I just throw it in the washing machine when I feel like it's gotten dirty. If that's not in your price range, then I would second the Land's End Canvas tote. They also have a nylon one I want for my new pool/beach bag, but I keep waiting for it to go on sale.
