I booked my first treatment for a couple of weeks from now. Advice? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
I have curly / frizzy hair. My under growth is very curly. My hair line is more wavy. To get nice curls I need a lot of product and a diffuser. If my hair gets to my shoulders it looks thin and frizzy - so I blow it dry and get ok wave with frizz. But the blow drying a couple of times a week is drying so I thought I'd try keratin and reduce my dry time / frizz.
I like body, though, so my hairdresser thought she'd do my hair line and the lower half of my head for a shorter time. I don't want flat hair and my hair is thin so it reacts quickly. She said if I liked it she'd be less conservative the next time, in 6 months if I wanted it again.
Any words of wisdom?
Tia, Paige.

I'll be following your post because I have thought about keratin treatments for awhile and haven't been able to make the leap because I also am afraid of my hair having no body. It isn't cheap and if I hate it then I woudl be miserable for the 6 months that it takes to wear out. I blow my wavy/curly hair out several times a week AND I agree, it is drying. I am always envious of those who can get their hair wet and have it dry smooth - I look like a frizzy poodle. So, I am of no help but hope some Peas are able to share their experiences.

My hair isn't that curly but I started using a keratin shampoo and conditioner. Blow drying with a round brush takes me a short amount of time and I just do touch ups with the straightener. Mostly just my bangs right now. I add a root boosting product which seems to help with volume.
Maybe try it before your appointment. I use Hask brand because I got it on sale but there are other good brands too.

Your hair sounds similar to mine. My hairdresser recently did what she called a "keratin express" treatment on mine. I loved it and will absolutely have her do it again. My hair went right back to being curly/wavy, but it was so soft and frizz free. It looked better than it has in a very long time.

It's great the first day, gets frizzy by the evening, is only ok the next day. I want some easier maintenance. I end up using oil in my hair to smooth a bit. I feel like I'm always fixing / fussing.

Did your hair go flat or did it have some body?

Yes I wash and blow dry my hair every day but I've always done that. For ME it cuts down time significantly. If you're looking to get a few days out of it this you would do better to get the treatment.

Did your hair go flat or did it have some body? I still had plenty of body. Now, she had to flat iron it the day of the treatment (I guess the high heat of the iron is part of the treatment) and it was straighter than it's ever been. But once I washed it myself 24 hrs. later it had plenty of body and curl.
