I'm waiting patiently for their annual sale to become public access because I don't have a card. But then I read someone saying they get $20 coupons from Nordstrom every time they pay their bill in full. I was wondering are they spending a lot of money to get those? I only shop there occasionally and am just wondering if I would get those too if I signed up?

I don't have a Nordstrom card but you might want to consider what opening a new card will do to your credit score.

I was told last week that they have a debit card option - like Target - that links to your checking account and doesn't pull a credit check.

I have one. You get points and when you reach a certain number of points you get a certificate. It could be $20 or more, depending on how much you charged. You get 2 points if you use it at Nordstrom and 1 point everywhere else. You also get a special day (your choice) per year where you can get 3 points on your Nordstrom purchases. If you plan to spend a lot at Nordstrom that day, you tell them and you get 3 points.
I use it like a regular VISA everywhere, so the points add up.

Not for paying your bill in full. When you accumulate 2000 points in spending anywhere, you get a 20 dollar note.

I love my Nordstrom card. I do most of my clothing and shoe shopping there, as well as a lot of DS's and DH's shopping, so I earn a significant amount of Notes each year. Plus it's handy to have early access to Anniversary Sale, and all my alterations end up being free. It's totally worth it to me to have it. Benefits are the same, I believe, whether you have the Visa, the store credit card or the store debit card.
FYI, any impact to your credit score for opening a single new card is nominal, unless you have other things going on with your credit.

We love Nordstrom and use those points all the time.

Here are the rewards shop.nordstrom.com/c/rewards-benefitsThey also recently did a 10 point day for cardholders and that was awesome because it happened to coincide with me needing to buy a lot of new clothes for my new job. I racked up quite a chunk of change in Notes back that day.

I finally got a Nordstrom card (not a debit or a visa, just a plain store CC) about a year ago, simply for the perks. If I'm shopping in their store, I use it. If I'm shopping online I actually use my Chase sapphire card and shop through the portal on the Chase site as I get 6 points each time I do that.

I have a Nordstrom store card. I love using it at The Rack; you get points there as well- and yes- you earn the points without having to pay the bill in full. I also use my card for The Rack online-- love the bargains! There are several times a year that I get emails with days where you get 2 or 3 points. About 2 weeks ago I got 3 points instead of 1.

No, you don't get $20 for paying your bill. You accumulate the "Nordstrom Notes" by spending money. They may have an offer for new cardholders that gives you a $20 note but I'm not sure.

Wow- it takes a lot of spending to get that $20 certificate. Yeah I definitely don't spend $1000 a year at Nordstrom. I'm just impatiently waiting this pre-sale to cardholders out.

Wow- it takes a lot of spending to get that $20 certificate. I only go to Nordstrom maybe 3-4 times a year. Most of my points come from paying for gas, groceries, eating out, etc. It takes a couple of months for me to get $20, but it is a nice little "gift". And I make sure to use the card for large ticket items.

I just signed up for the Nordstrom Debit card last week so I could shop the sale. I think it said I got a $20 Nordstrom Note just for signing up.
