I ordered something Amazon prime Sunday saying it would be here Wednesday. I paid more for it on amazon rather than eBay so I would get it in time. I checked shipping status today since it didn't show up and it just barely shipped today and not even UPS but through USPS, saying it could be delayed up until Saturday. This is something I need on Friday, if I call Amazon tomorrow what is the chances they'll over night the same item with no charge. So annoyed right now! What is the point of prime anymore when it's usually not even 2 days anymore.

I have had a lot of things lately that said arrives in 4-5 days or a week or whatever. Some are even months away even though they're prime eligible.

Same here. I got a good deal on cable if I included their phone plan. I ordered a set of phones. It said in stock and shipped with Prime. When I looked at my order it said it wouldn't ship till 3 weeks later. I emailed them, they apologized and sent it 2 day shipping. Email or call them and complain.

That really sucks. One time I ordered a birthday present for a party Dd was going to and it didn't arrive when it was supposed to. Sucks.
I know this doesn't help you and all the other people getting screwed by slow shipping but mine has been really fast. Last weekend I ordered something on Saturday night after 11pm and it came on Sunday at 2pm! Wth?

I ordered a kindle paperwhite on the July 12th sale. An Amazon product. It got here on the 18th. The Kindle Fire got here on the 15th. I don't recall them being a huge item that day.

I wonder if that'll happen to the item I ordered today that I need by Saturday. It said it'll arrive Thursday. DH said things have been arriving when they say they should. We'll see. I need it for a trip and the last time I ordered before a trip they cancelled the order.

There are a lot of things on Amazon now that are not coming in two days. But usually they post the shipment estimate with the item descriptions. It is getting so these kind of items outnumber the two day shipping items anymore. And I keep forgetting to look for the shipment date and get mad at myself about it.

I'm sorry you had that experience. Mine has been just the opposite lately. Dd ordered a teeshirt on Tuesday and got it yesterday, and I ordered two accessories for my pressure cooker and got them both in two days. I wonder if it has something to do with where we live? I know that often when I order books they come in one day -- something about "at a facility near you" or something like that.

I ordered a meatloaf pan (with 2 Day Prime) Tuesday, July 19, my confirming email said I would receive it Friday - December 31.
I seriously sat there thinking What the...... Later in the day, I received an email that said "Good News!" Your item will be here Friday, July 22. That's still not 2-day prime, but a heck of a lot better than Dec 31!
Amazon prime is whacky.

Same here! Had two items that were out for delivery yesterday only to find out that at 7:24 p.m. They had just arrived in Charlotte. Ugh!!!
Edited to say that I just went to check the status now and it says this:
"We are sorry your package is late. If it hasn’t arrived by Sunday, Jul 24, please come back for more options."
What the heck does that mean. Ugh!!!!

Amazon will tell you that the 2 day ship is how long it takes once it leaves them, not that you are guaranteed to get it in 2 days. Ask me how I know that, lol. Yeah their service has gone way downhill. My prime is up next month and i'm not renewing it.

I don't know about the OP's issue but Prime only applies once they have the item ready for shipping. If Amazon isn't in possession of the item, it has to be filled by the other vendor and they are under no obligation to have it shipped to you within 2 days. It is 2 day shipping from when the order is filled. Amazon has always been transparent about that. Most people just don't read the fine print or realize that is how Prime actually works.

I ordered a book with the 20% off coupon on Prime Day (July 12) with two day shipping. I haven't seen it show up yet so I checked amazon and it says set to arrive July 21 (today) and hasn't shipped yet. Say what?

I still like knowing I don't have to add shipping into the cost since it is already covered by prime.

Just an FYI from their site -
"If you received free shipping through Amazon Prime, you may be eligible for a free one-month extension when the promised delivery date isn't met. Prime Extensions are limited to one per free trial and 12 for an annual membership. Free Amazon Student Memberships do not qualify for this extension."
So, when your confirmation says it will be there Friday and it doesn't show up until Tuesday, let them know and you can get a free month added to your account.

All of my orders get here within the 2 day time frame. I think I have had one, maybe 2 that didn't. My DS, on the other hand, has not had that luck. He has ordered several things in the last week. 2 of them have either not arrived when stated or somehow ended up in a post office no where near his city on the day it should have arrived adding a day. I told him to call and tell them. All the labeling was correct as far as the address went.
I am expecting something today and something tomorrow and hoping they arrive.

Shipping on my items is still "as promised," but more and more prime items are showing as "ships in 3-4 days." I'm not giving up Prime yet, but it is frustrating. Prime is pretty expensive, and I've changed my shopping habits to take advantage of it. If the shipping benefits (which are the reason I pay for it - everything else is just a bonus to me) continue to be eroded in this way, it may not be worth it at renewal time.

I have had Prime for a long, long time. And yes, that's how it has always worked. Some will even say "Prime (when available)." It always seems like a little trick to me but I know to watch for it. The two items that should have been here yesterday were available and shown to be delivered yesterday when I ordered. Not sure what the hiccup is but I don't like it.

I still like knowing I don't have to add shipping into the cost since it is already covered by prime. That. And I like being able to order one more thing that I forgot when I put in an order earlier in the day. Or, I'll be talking to my mom who will say "remember that nice hand cream you had when you were here last...?" and I can go straight to Amazon and have some shipped right to her. Then later in the same day I can have replacement blades for my dad's razor shipped to him. The times I've had trouble with my shipping have been when it's passed off to the post office. And that's a separate issue. I always complain to Amazon when that happens. Maybe if enough of us do that they'll change their policy of using the post office? One can only hope...

My Prime shipping has been very hot or miss, more misses than the other. Most items I order are not a must need in 2 days but that isn't the point. I ordered some jeans and it took them a week (when I placed my order it gave me a 2 day ship date) and when I went on the next day to look, it said if I ordered that day they would be delivered 2 days later. WTH? Are they lying intentionally or just an honest mistake. Don't promise me a date if you can't deliver then I won't be as disappointed. Whatever. The one thing Prime does for me is keep me from running to Target for an item and coming out with lots of extras so from that aspect Prime still does save me money.

On the other side of the coin, I've had many Amazon items arrive a day earlier than tracking indicated they would.

As annoying as this is, it is basically true. Sure, they have some screw ups, but all of my items that haven't arrived in 2 days have been due to having to get them from another vendor, not a shipping delay. Like I said, it's annoying, but the conveniences still outweigh the annoyances for me. flute4peace, I was surprised to find that, too. In fact, had a bet w/my son over Sunday delivery. He swore it wouldn't happen and owed me a buck when the latch for our broken washing machine door showed up Sunday afternoon, lol.

I mentioned it to my mail carrier that brings it on Sunday, and she said she loves it because it means more hours for her. Okay then.

I've only ever ordered prime eligible items that are sold by or fulfilled by Amazon. So there's no waiting for the "other vendor" to fill the order. I don't remember ever seeing anything that is fulfilled by a 3rd party seller be prime eligible.
