DH always asks me what I want to do and I never really know, so we end up just going out to eat. I don't want to have to drive too far, but am kind of bored with our local places. Also, we are really trying to save money so I don't want anything that will be too expensive.
So what fun, cheap things do you like to do to celebrate your birthday?

Go to one of my favorite restaurants. I'm not a "make a big deal out of birthdays" person. I don't have a birthday "week". Presents are also optional.

We normally go out to a nice restaurant. We really don't do presents much anymore - there is not a lot we need and not a lot of space for 'things'. We've done a few 'experience' gifts - one year, DH took me Hot-Air Ballooning, or we go away somewhere for a long weekend.

I like a treat such as a massage, just for me, and then lunch out somewhere....doesn't have to be expensive at all, I'm just as happy with a picnic

I hate any kind of birthday fuss, being the centre of attention is my idea of hell. I prefer something low key like going to the zoo or taking a train to the seaside.

Go out to eat with friends, and maybe something fun/different...usually just a movie.

We do dinner with the family & dessert. Nothing expensive, they plan, shop, cook & clean.

I like birthday celebrations that last a week, lol. Time to go out to dinner with different groups of friends. We don't have family nearby, sad. Not into gifts, love going out to eat.

My birthday is in three days. We always go to the beach. Mine is next week can I come too? I'm making my own cake this year, but it's my choice. I'm watching the Great British Baking Competition on PBS, and they had to make this: for the technical challenge. It looked amazing, and since I finally have a decent oven in the new house, I'm going to try it.

My birthday is in April, so just starting to get nice outside. I usually pick going to the State Park for a picnic so the grandkids can can get out and ride bikes and whatnot.

The past: my sister's birthday was 2 days after mine so we would have a big dinner and 2 cakes at our house and it would be fun. We would take photos and lots of hugs and love.
The present: it's just a reminder now and I guess we will go out for dinner or something. That's what we did last year. It's hard to say if I will want to do anything at all.

Mine is August 13th and often gets mostly overlooked since that's when we are gearing up for school to start (mid August) and the kids are busy with band camp, etc. Last year for my 50th, DH and I were supposed to get a room in San Diego and see a ballgame. I'm still waiting for that.
This year however, it's on a Saturday and school doesn't start until the following Wed. We are planning to go from San Diego to LA with the kids to see my favorite baseball team play the Dodgers. Then, we will stop at my favorite restaurant that is about 90 minutes north of us. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't seen my team all year and this will be the only chance.

For the past two years my birthday fell while I was in Montana with my son. He's my whole wide world and since he lives so far away I only get to see him once or twice a year. So...just being with him is the best way I can think of to spend my birthday! Both years he took me out for dinner to my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere. Sadly I won't be there for my birthday this year, but that's only because we are going there next week instead! My birthday isn't until 9/9, so we will have to have my birthday meal early this year.

Happy Birthday fellow Leo!!!! My birthday is next Wednesday. I also hate going out to eat (big waste of money in my opinion). I always go to the beach on my birthday and get a new tattoo (tradition). One thing I DON'T do is go to work! I always take the day off!

My bday was the a few days ago. We went to The Shady Maple in Lancaster, Pa. I love it there and love the massive gift shop they have. I also bought me 3 new pieces of clothing from Torrid because I'm so desperately in need of new clothes. I never shop for myself so usually my bday is when I get something for me.

My birthday is in the dead of winter. Ideally I'd like to be somewhere (anywhere!) warm on vacation. Realistically that doesn't usually happen. We end up going out to dinner if I'm lucky. DH isn't much of a birthday guy and DD is too little to do anything on her own.

What I'd like to do is sit outside at a restaurant overlooking the water in early June and have drinks and dinner with DH and DS. However my frigging birthday is in December so that's not an option. So we usually go to some restaurant I'm dying to try. I always have Champagne and something chocolate.

I love to explore a museum or interesting neighborhood and try a new restaurant for my birthday. Fortunately my family loves to tag along.

I like low key, no big deal birthdays. Loved ones with me a happy birthday and have pizza for dinner and ice cream for dessert. Presents aren't necessary,

I'm a summer baby so I always want to go to the beach. If I can't do that, any pool will do!

My birthday was yesterday. The important thing is I heard from each of my sons. Went to dinner with a friend--tried something new for us (Indian). Then went to the auction. That's a regular Thursday thing for him and his mom, and she was planning on buying a lot, and needed muscle and his truck. She was successful, and we loaded boxes of books.
Not quite as nice as other years when I was in Cape May or Disney seeing fireworks, but it was good!

Growing up we would get a home baked cake for dessert that night with candles. Usually, we only got dessert on Sundays.
So birthdays are not something I equate with the word celebration. And a quiet night at home ignoring the fact that I am just getting older is fine with me.
