I don't like to make a big deal out of it but I definitely don't want to cook on my birthday ... we usually go out to eat or order in

My birthday is July 27th and DH's is Aug 5th. We decided ages ago that it makes more sense to celebrate together. So instead of doing 2 separate dinners and a movies we combine resources and do something a bit nicer for both. We'll do a weekend away, an experience such as a city tour helicopter ride, fancy dinner and Broadway show etc. It's really nice.
I'm not sure where you live or what things you're into so here're my suggestions:
~Day at the beach ~Night at a local hotel, couples massage and dinner ~Lunch at a never before tried restaurant and then a baseball game ~Day at the amusement park ~Overnight roadtrip (far away to feel you've gone somewhere but not too far to be expensive) ~ A night out somewhere new/place you normally wouldn't try (a club or speakeasy or..?) ~Learn something together (dance lessons/cooking class) ~Free movie in the park with a picnic ~Drive-in movie ~Pretend you're tourists in your town and do some things you've always wanted to try ~Go to a trampoline place, rollerblading place, batting cages etc etc be kids together
Ok I'm out of ideas. lol Hope that helps some.

Mine is right after Christmas. I just like to hang at home with the family and play board games. They cook something yummy for dinner and take care of cake.
Although last year dh and I took a short trip together and that was pretty fantastic.

My birthday is 3 weeks from Christmas, so we have the kids over, get Chinese take out and decorate the tree. It is my favorite day of the year.
Probably not much help to you at this time of year. How about a cook out and a "campfire"? I would love that if I had a summer birthday.

A pretty hike with dinner on a deck somewhere even if you're dirty and smelly...

My birthday is in three days. We always go to the beach. Mine is next week can I come too? I'm making my own cake this year, but it's my choice. I'm watching the Great British Baking Competition on PBS, and they had to make this: for the technical challenge. It looked amazing, and since I finally have a decent oven in the new house, I'm going to try it. I love meringue. Please update us on how it turns out.
