Told friend I would ask the Peas for help on her behalf.
Friend and husband are moving to Jacksonville, Florida starting September 1. Working downtown. Anticipate buying house in 60-90 days. _ Need housing for 60--90 days. Furnished. Parking for 2 cars. Good area. Willing to drive up to 30 minutes each way.
Husband has severe pet allergies, so cannot stay in place that has housed cats (and non hypoallergenic dogs).
The short term leasing apartments they could find had terrible reviews, as did most of the long term stay hotels that are affordable.
So far their best option seems to be one of those extended stAy hotels, which with parking will cost them $1300/30 days.
They thought they could have found a furnished condo cheaper, but so far have found no furnished condos available for more than a week and the prices were very high.
Any other ideas? Or do they need to accept that they will be spending $1300 per month?
Thanks! (I have to go to work soon ,but I know my friend will be reading this thread.)

Maybe try sites like AirBNB, VRBO, and HomeAway to see if one would worked out a temporary rental arrangement for them.

Sorry I have no help to give. Good luck to your friends, I hope they can find something that works for them.
I am always so interested to see the differences between areas in US however. 1300 for a months rent does not seem that high to me, especially for just a furnished Unit with no lease in a good area. I had a friend that rented a room in a rooming house with a shared bathroom for a seasonal job and that was 1000 for the month (250 a week) in my state. And that was one of the cheaper options.

I live in Jax and would have your friends check out the Southside, JTB, or Beaches area for furnished rentals. Jax is largest city square miles wise in USA & since you said they want no more than a 30 min commute those areas are probably best bet. If they don't mind driving another 15 min, St. Johns county would probably have what they're looking for.

I live in St. Johns and you won't find a furnished place here for less than $1300. Especially during the school months. The issue with the cost is that anything less than a 7 or 8 month lease is subject to Hotel Tax Rates in this state.
And remember that bad reviews only mean that those are the people who chose to document their experience. Most people will document a complaint before a compliment.
