Random Sunday morning thoughts.
Last night I read that the Sanders supporters were unhappy at the convention because they lost the vote to eliminate super delegates. When they lost they chanted "shame".
Which got me thinking about Sanders in general. For years and years he has pretty much ignored the Democratic Party. And did so until he decided to use it for his run for president. And now that he will not be the Democratic nominee he has decided that he will change the Democratic Party to fit his view. The DNC has made concessions to Sanders. Far more then a lot expected but to Sanders that isn't enough. As a Democrat my entire life I think the DNC is giving in too much to Sanders. I look at Sanders as the extreme part of the Democratic party. Just like the Tea Party is the extreme part of the Republican Party.
The fact is, despite the DNC rooting for Hillary, the majority of Democrats didn't buy into what Sanders is selling because it's too extreme in this centric country. Hillary had so much baggage a strong candidate, in spite of the DNC, could have beat her easily.
So I'm thinking Sanders and his supporters should leave the Democratic Party and start their own party. Just like I think the Tea Party should start their own party. There is no question, if this happened, both The Democratic and Republican parties would take a hit.
But maybe that is what needs to be done to shake up our political system. I think for any new Politicial party to be successful it would have to come from the extreme part of the existing parties because there is already a base to build from.
But I do have a question. Does anyone think a Sanders and/or Tea Party party could survive and even flourish in this country? Or do you think a Sanders or Tea Party party will divide the country even more then it is already?
