So, I am pretty apolitical in life. Not registered in any political party. I vote for the person, not the party.
Anyway, dh put the convention on.
What are with these speeches nominating Sanders? Is this normal? Is this just protocol, as in a formailty, or is this a bit of a rebellion? So confused. I don't watch enough of these things to understand the normal events. I usually watch the end, when the actual candidate speaks. I listened to Trump.. all of it. I am sad i missed Michele Obama but will try to watch Hillary Clinton. Anyway.. I heard one speaker say they nominated Sanders but recommended they all vote for Clinton in the election. The speaker before that had me confused.. hence this post!

Never mind. I get it now. It's a formality type thing... at least it seems to be.

I think it's normal protocol, but truthfully, I don't know for sure. Maybe compwalla would know more, as she has served at the state party level.

Never mind. I get it now. It's a formality type thing... at least it seems to be. He is a nominee and so gets nominated from the floor because he has not yet withdrawn from the race officially. The roll call vote later will nominate Hillary Clinton. So yes, it's a formality.

One speaker in particular was so enthusiastic, I couldn't help but wonder if it was an attempt at a coup! LOL. That's who was speaking when dh turned the TV on. The next speaker mentioned that the Sanders supporters all needed to support Clinton.. and then I understood. I am in a hotel and don't normally have access to channels like CNN to see things like this! LOL

When the roll call was over with the state of Vermont, after Vermonts votes were tallied Bernie took the microphone.and said he suggested all votes go to the nominee, Hillary Rotham Clinton

I am sad i missed Michele Obama but will try to watch Hillary Clinton. Michelle Obama's speech is available online. It's worth 15 minutes. I thought it was a beautiful and powerful speech.
