When I am away from my scraproom, I say to myself that I can purge X,Y, and Z. But when X,Y and Z are in front of me, I can't do it. What are your X,Y, and Z? Mine are - X - Dies. I haven't used them in years, but I can't get rid of them. Y - Chipboard alphabets. I have a large storage container of them. A good portion is Heidi Swapp. Z - Ribbon. I don't use them yet I have enough to probably go from LA to NYC.

Alphabets. Thicker are my weakness though I really don't use them.

Pieces of scrap paper. Like minuscule sizes. I can use a small punch on those!

Everything!! Seriously, 2 weeks ago I decided it was time to go through my stuff and get rid of stuff I don't use. I've got so much stuff and I always seem to have a package arriving ... I thought I'd have no trouble at especially since I needed to find some space ... Turns out all I can part with doesn't even fill a large zip lock baggie! And even then there is a Christman stamp in the bag that I'm struggling to part with... AND it's a stamp I know I will never use again because I used it to make my 2014 Christmas cards! My goal is to try again this weekend, but I think success will simply mean actually not keeping that Christmas stamp and possibly getting the zip lock babgie filled-or at least ¾ filled...

Dies are pretty hard for me. If I do sell them I make cut outs of them to scan so that I can cut them out down the road. I do purge paper. I recently purged (sold) all my ribbons and Prima flowers. I've purged half my punches, inks, stamps and most of my sprays. I had no problem purging my alpha chipboard pieces and buttons. Never used them. When I say purged I mean sold. I could never just give it away.

I cannot purge anything I think I might use someday I also cannot purge anything I bought because I really liked it
This past weekend I hosted a crop for about 15 scrappers and I had about 20 items where each scrapper could choose one thing as a little prize. I had a very hard time choosing things from my stash to give away. Many of the things I gave away were things I had gotten for free at conventions and such - perfectly nice things but stuff I wasn't emotionally connected to, lol! I kept pulling out of the pile the things I actually purchased because I might need it someday...... Remember Junkitz? I had some little doodads that I bought YEARS ago, but I kept them for myself because I still like them!

I can and did get rid of ribbons, buttons, brads, eyelets, border punches, washi, many miscellaneous stamps sets and stacks of patterned paper (both 12x12 and 6x6).
But what I cannot get rid of are ink pads. And I have so many. I mainly use PTI, MFT, SU, Hero Arts and Tim Holtz. Those are the ones that sit on my craft table in Stamp n Storage ink pad holders. I have more than enough colors. So why can't I get rid of the rest?
And I may have a die problem. But I'm not willing to confront it yet.

Photos! I don't know what my problem is, I can't toss photos, even though they aren't "scrapworthy"! Case in point: I just finished an album of our Christmas Cabo trip. By the end, I probably had 20 photos that were good ones, but they were either pretty much duplicates of others that I scrapped.... or they were boring (love the ocean but who needs more than a couple pics?).... or (and I'm embarrassed to admit this!), the photo of me wasn't very good (swim suits, pool hair, need I say more?). Soooo, I took my little stack of Cabo photos and put them in the box with other less-than-loved photos and put it back on the shelf. Why? I don't know!!

I think I will eventually use my washi tape. I did make a layout last night with old flowers. I'm really not a fan of flowers. They don't look great (older flowers). They didn't cluster well. So today I am going to purge a big Iris container of them. I don't know why I have so many flowers. I maybe use them on 1% of my layouts.

I'm not sure why I hang on to my ribbon and flowers. I rarely use them!

I generally don't have a problem purging and am pretty brutal about it.
and yet...I have a container full of those heidi swapp chipboard alphas (and a few BasicGrey and scenic route too) that I can't seem to get rid of. I literally haven't used any of them in at least 5 years but there they sit.

I don't think I purge anything.
Definitely not tools. Never, ever tools.
I still have brads and eyelets, though I can't remember the last time I used one. (I don't use them on layouts anymore, only cards. But I can't remember the last time I made a card.)
I have trimmers that I can't find replacement blades for. Why am I reluctant to purge them, I don't know.

I am currently (slowly) working on my first-ever purge...definitely not purging any stamps or tools. I can't talk myself into getting rid of the multiple empty 7Gypsies wooden trays I have (remember those?).
Every time I put something in my purge box, I think "but what if I want to make xyz?!" But I am trying to stay strong!

Oh, yeah, buttons. I have tons. I can't remember the last time I used one.
I DID purge all my chipboard. I hated it with a passion. I could never make it look right.

Stamps, buttons, washi. I don't actually stamp that much but I have so many! I do love buttons but when you use three on every sixth or tenth layout, you don't go through that many. And I've never actually finished a roll of washi but I still buy more.

Stamps and enamel dots are the only things I haven't purged. I went through a brutal purge of my scraproom last month and these two are the only things left unscathed.

What can I NOT purge...EVERYTHING! I hundreds of the original sizzix red, green, yellow and blue steel ruled dies! I haven't used them in probably 10 years but I just can't get rid of them.

I have a hard time purging ANYTHING!!! Being the hoarder that I am, I am more likely to find more storage space than to pare down my stash.
When I did the reno on my scrap room last year, I actually did end up taking a couple of apple boxes of old papers--mostly ones that had come in kits (or I bought because they were COOL) but that I could not figure out how or when to use. Even then, the choice of what to put in the boxes was hard...
I probably SHOULD get rid of some stamps: don't stamp a lot. But I have a set for almost any occasion, so when I need that little extra something... I troll through my stamp cupboard.
I don't want to get rid of any dies or embossing folders. Again, I don't use them every day, but what if...
I am happy to share my supplies if someone comes over to play, but somehow just "purging" it doesn't feel right. Anyone want to come here for a Potlatch Crop?

I can't remember whose you tube I watched, but they used a square punch and punched out something in every photo that didn't make it into an album and filed those into boxes with each person's name of them. For example, if there are 20 pics of my granddaughter at the park one day, and I only need 3 photos on my layout, use the square punch on all the other photos and throw them into the box with my granddaughter's name on it for a future collage, etc. SaveSave

I have a hard time purging alterable, home decor type products - like Kaisercrafts' Beyond the Page MDF collection. I've purged some over the years, but really should just get rid of it all. Maybe one day, hah!
