As we respond to the new releases and particular products or trends, we often say, "It's not my style". So here is your opportunity to tell us what IS your style? Get it Scrapped has a Scrapbooking Style Survey I am a PLAYFUL STORYTELLER. For the most part, I use the materials, colours, techniques and wording to support the story I want to tell about the photo(s) I am displaying. I am never sure about what is "IN" and what is not. I just know what I like and what I can use. (And when shopping for scrappy stuff, I also include what would be fun to play with, even if I don't have a use for it right now) If you have a few minutes, take the quiz and then let us know YOUR style! |

Not even close. I'm not sure how I got that answer.

I got playful story designer. I knew before taking the quiz that half the questions wouldn't pertain to my style but that's ok.
I scrap to play with pretty paper. that's it. I'm not trying to document every detail of my kids' lives, haven't designated myself as family historian, don't have lofty ideas that my kids will fight over the scrapbooks when I'm gone. it's simply a creative outlet and something to spend all my money on.
I would say the playful part is correct because I like pretty colors and I include lots of humor and sarcasm on my pages, but I'm not a storyteller at all!

Mine came up Artful Storyteller. The description for that one had the line about "photos sometimes playing a supporting role to evocative color, design and motif" too, and I disagree with that. My photos and the journaling are always the most important things on my layouts.

Playful Storyteller for me, too. Sounds about right. I start with the pictures, choose colors and embellishments with a general layout in mind. The rest happens as the various items come together. Journaling is usually minimal and gets tucked in last.

I real think that scrap booking magazines did us a disservice by moving away from this. The published pages were all about art and not the story... One picture with a ton of embellishments.... A style many of us could not emulate. And now the magazines are gone.....

I find myself pinning a lot of the artsy pages on Pinterest, but I also pin a lot of more basic pages. And I almost spit out my tea when I saw @juliehenry4 's comment about vomiting product on a page: sometimes I think that is the process used for some of the manufacturer's DT's, whether it is paper or embellishments or artsy techniques. One of my favorite things about GIS is that they focus on the story and how to tell it in various ways, whether with words, or photos, or design. |

I'm a playful storyteller. For the most part, it was an accurate description. I am all about the photos & the stories they tell. Paper & embellishments are important, but I'd rather put more photos on a page than stuff and I quite often journal first & make everything fit around it. However, I rarely scrap 'outside the box'. I am a scraplifter, so I am always following a plan and get twitchy if I have to deviate, lol.

Classic Storyteller - I think it fits and after reading the thread (with the different descriptions) but before taking the quiz, that's what I had predicted.
I'm not really creative and I consider my scrapbooks to be glorified photo albums - where I add journalling and pretty papers and a few embellishments
