And what really got me was that the last however many thousand feet he had to flip over so that he would land on his back meaning he wasn't able to see where he was in relation to the net. Probably didn't matter since he couldn't change anything at that point but still! Don't know whether to call him brave or just stupid. he had to land on his back so his neck wouldn't break. Which is why the net could not have any bounce to it. Yes, I realize that. I just meant the very idea that he couldn't watch where he was landing was additionally terrifying.

I watched it live on TV (late night here in the UK) but they had it on a few seconds delay (for obvious reasons!!). Apparently the net was made of some super special new fabric that slowed him down and cushioned him without bouncing. They also said it was done as an advertising stunt for some chewing gum company. My heart was in my mouth watching him!! I thought he was definitely over to one side, not directly in the centre. It was crazy!!!

I saw him interviewed the day before the jump and thought about him on and off all day concerned that he might die. I just don't get that kind of a stunt and there would be no way in the world that I could ever watch it. I was relieved to hear he made it.

Not a chance in hell. Maybe if the plane was on the ground or getting ready to blow up and it was low enough.
I do think I could jump with a parachute

I have jumped out of a plane twice, and was wearing a parachute both times I did it. Heck, the first time I jumped, I was wearing a human with a parachute attached to himself, too (I did a tandem jump the first time and an unassisted jump the second.) Both jumps were amazing experiences. I can't imagine doing it without a parachute. This guy is more brave (and possibly dumb) than I will ever be!

That is just nuts. I wouldn't jump out of a plane with a parachute either though.

As shocking as the jump was, I'm even more shocked that he did this in front of his wife and 4 yr old son.....That didn't sit well with me....the horror if something went wrong is unimaginable.

OMG, that's 11,000 feet HIGHER than when I jumped out of a plane WITH a parachute and another human attached to me. No way would I ever do that, even if I had the 18,000 jumps under my belt that he did. I guess after 18,000 normal jumps it gets a bit boring.

I support his right to do that. I also try to support my husband in endeavors he wishes to achieve in life. But I would have a very hard time if my husband and the father of my young child said that this was an endeavor that was important to him. I don't think I could have been there to watch. Actually, I think I would have been far too pissed off at him to be there to watch.

There is no way on this earth I would do it, heck I wouldn't even do it with a parachute. Respect to the peas who have parachute jumped, I'm sure it was an amazing experience.

I just saw that video, it was here in Oceanside, CA. It was crazy how fast he was falling. He is very lucky and stupid. That is the same place DH and DS did their skydiving.
