So I just moved into a new house and am trying to plan out window treatments. Here's where I'm stumped. Above the sliding glass door is a valance that has two curtain rods (one 12-inches above the other). The one valance has two slots for these rods. There is more than 12 inches of material in the valance between the rods so that it is puffy and the extra material hangs down. I can't even find a picture of one online as an example. I have no idea what to google to shop for one. Anyone ever seen anything like this? It's like ruffled and from the 90's. Mint green and peach. The style is OK if I could get one in black or grey.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance:)

I know exactly what you are saying. Yes, I think that is pretty 90s. What I would do is take down the old rods, and put up a newer single rod, and make it all more modern and clean looking.

Also the top rod pocket is larger than the bottom rod pocket.

If I had left ours up, I could show you.
Taken them down and put up what you want!

Good idea Cindy. I just thought hmmm maybe I can dye the one that's up there now? It doesn't have to match anything and all I want is something dark grey or black...

While playing around with dying the curtains could be a fun project, the chances of getting a really nice result are lowish. The fabric is probably also from the 90s, and so a bit worn. Even if it's 100% cotton, it may not take dye evenly -- hard to get large pieces of fabric to dye nicely and perfectly even color unless you have a commercial machine set up.
Basic ready made tab top curtains are easy to find and pretty cheap, probably cheaper at Ikea or Walmart than anything you could make yourself buying yardage (unless you find an amazing deal on fabric and are a wiz at sewing).

Thanks guys. Yes it looks like those pouf valances. The material is old, I am sure, but in good condition. But it is a polyester silky type material which would probably not take dye well. I am thinking I should probably just start from scratch and put something modern up:)

If I recall correctly, those pouf valences were sometimes stuffed with tissue paper to make them pouf adequately. Those were the days of big hair and bigger window treatments.
