Surprise! I am taking a turn at this, while Chinagirl828 is on vacation. Several summer lines this year have at least one mosaic design. and I have seen a lot of blog posts and magazine articles on how to create or work with a mosaic. There are lots of ways to achieve this look, from cut files to resist to washi tape. So so this month, our challenge is to create something that has, in part, a mozaic pattern. I have a couple of samples, but no photos yet. Will post them when I get a chance. All types of projects count (paper, digi, hybrid, PL, art journaling, anything else you create) and if you share your projects online please link them here so we can admire and leave some love. You can find instructions to post in the Refupeas gallery in this thread but shout out if you need help. admin , please add to master list

Here is a 2 pager I did using M's Recollections resist pp. Two of the pages had a mosaic pattern, and I wanted to use one of them in pieces to go with that giant Ukrainian Easter egg. I tried various techniques, but settled on spritzing the pp with Dylusions black, letting it dry, then wiping with a baby wipe to remove the colour from the resist lines. I then used a little black paint and some Inka Gold to finish the triangles. Under the Egg by Gramma Dee, on Flickr For this page, I created my own pattern using washi tape ( justjac 's idea). I then spritzed with various mists, then pulled off the tape. Easy peasy. Happy 10 together by Gramma Dee, on Flickr When I have a few minutes, I will find a couple of tutorials on line with ideas for using diecuts, paper piecing, and other methods to get similar results.

Oh I love the page where you used washi and spritzed some mist. I have a lot of mists and think I may have to try this. I like this challenge.

I just printed some pictures at Walmart that I Hope will work for this. Going to try and start in on it tonight. I might Google to see if there are any free templates to make the spacing easier.

Has anyone else seen the mosaic moments system! They have some gorgeous layouts and the spacing is all basically done for you.
But where's the challenge in that right?!?
...but I still want it!

Oh thank you grammadee! I had so much fun playing with this and I am SO HAPPY with my layout...yes, tooting my own horn. I think I just might be hooked on this new technique. I didn't embellish much because there is just so much going on with the page already. Let me know if you think I should have added more. Attachments:

I started out by checking out the Mosaic Moments site for tips and then just jumped in. Now that I have the grid I think I will keep it (or make a new neater one) so I can use it for other pages. Once you have the grid you can do an awful lot with it. Attachments:

Here is my layout. I call these mosaic butterflies. I stamped them on vellum with Versamark, then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. Next I colored them in with Distress Inks using a q-tip. Next I fussy cut them then applied them to my page with small dots. Springtime by Cindy Blair, on Flickr

Thanks for your kind words about the butterflies. I love them and you can make them with rich coloring or soft pastels. They are fun to make and not very difficult. I have done flowers with similar stamps. And even if you get a little ink on the white embossing it wipes right off. Hope you try them!

not sure if this is a mosaic, but I've done some of these lately with 5x7s, mostly single photo pages in my Yellowstone album (almost finished) I've been pleased with the effect.

nitad, that layout is gorgeous!!! I love your grid in the background. scrapincin, Great spring page with beautiful butterflies. @elaynef, love the use of vellum for the mat and how you've cut your main focal photo. I've only ever tried that in digital layouts.

@elaynef That is a wonderful effect and I would definitely say it's in keeping with the mosaic theme. It really adds some extra interest to an already great photo! Love it.

Had so much fun with my first try at a mosaic layout I thought I would do another. This is very different than the first but still has a mosaic feel to it I think. Attachments:
