Wow, you'd rather admit to being obtuse than petty. No, I just think it's bullshit to share something and then when someone who has a different opinion talks to you about it, you tell them what you shared is none of their business. That'a clear jab. I also think it's bullshit to then turn it around on someone who points out that it doesn't make sense, as the person who's taking the jab. SSDD But Becky didn't ask about what Merge had already shared about something between her and her husband. She asked about what she was going to do in the future. Something that wasn't shared. None of her business. None of your business. And turning to profanity when someone doesn't want to share what will transpire between herself and her husband in the future is just crass. And petty.

The agreement with her husband is the part that's "nunya". I'm sure you grasped that, but you wanted to take your jab anyway... No, I didn't grasp that, because it's not graspable. She shared the agreement and now the agreement is suddenly none of BeckyTech's business. That makes no sense and it looks more like the jab was coming from Lucy and Merge, not me. OK, Gia, I'll try to use real small words so you can grasp it. Just because I choose to share something that's going on in my life, doesn't mean I'm obligated (that's kind of a big word, so I linked to the definition for you) to share whatever follows from it, particularly when the person is asking not from actual interest or concern, but because she thinks she can score some kind of point from it. But since my personal business is of such apparent (oops, another big word) interest to you, I'll say this: the closeness (or not) of the race in Texas about which I speculated above is hypothetical, as you would know if you had a basic grasp of reading comprehension, so I haven't yet decided for whom I will vote, and I haven't discussed it with my husband. </condescension>

No, I just think it's bullshit to share something and make it everyone's business, then when someone who has a different opinion talks to you about it, you tell them what you shared is none of their business. That'a clear jab. I also think it's bullshit to then turn it around on someone who points out that it doesn't make sense, as the person who's taking the jab. SSDD Oh I see, if someone has once shared a tidbit or nugget of info on a topic, you now feel entitled to all future info on that topic. And actually, Merge never used the words "none of your business". Of course she has the right to not share further, especially when you are just using her words as ammo to be bitchy to her. Even if you won't own up to it.

Most human beings are not impeccably honest; we tell little white lies...and worse. Telling a lie is not synonymous with being a sociopath. Are you familiar with the multiple DSM-5 criteria for the diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder? Because Hillary Clinton may be dishonest at times but she is in no way, shape or form a sociopath...and for you to assert that is at best, misinformed or ignorant...or <GASP> a lie. In my opinion I think there is something mentally ill about Hillary Clinton's lying. A person running for president doesn't tell such blatant lies such as the one she told regarding landing in the helicopter and running for the tarmac under gunfire when there is a video of the same helicopter landing and it shows her stepping out of said helicopter peacefully greeting people, shaking their hands and receiving flowers. If I was running for president I would know that sort of lie would easily be proven false by the video. This happens over and over and over again. So why does she do it? It's hurting her in the polls. She's know as the least trustworthy candidate. It makes logical sense that she can't help herself. Sure all politicians lie. But not to this extent. It's the reason she has lost my vote. I cannot believe one word that comes out of her mouth. Sure she has promised to endorse some of Bernie's platform, but I believe with my whole mind and heart that the day she becomes president (if that day comes) all of that will be thrown out the window. She will say anything to be elected. A person that flip flops this much, that lies this much cannot be trusted. What most people do not understand is that we don't have just two candidates to choose from this election. We have four. We also have Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party-check her out at jill2016.com and we have Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party. Check him out at johnsonweld.com Don't vote out of fear. Look, you may believe that you have the luxury of living in a world of unicorns, fairies and rainbows where a third party candidate is going to be elected in November. I don't share that sentiment. What I am afraid of is waking up November 9 to a country run by a megalomaniac. I think pretty much everyone agrees that our two party system isn't working and needs reform. But stop chasing a pipe dream, keep the dirtbag with tiny hands out of the White House, and then we can all get busy over the next 4-8 years trying to make some real changes.

I have to say that Johnson/Weld is off my list. I even thought Weld made a great governor here. But now, he's a falling-down drunk. And I say that from person knowledge -- I've seen him incoherently drunk in several places. He's well known for it in the area. I wouldn't trust Johnson's decision making with that choice. Weld is a good guy and was a good governor, but he's incapable of being president at this time. It's a shame, because he was able to work with both parties which is not easy when you're a Republican in a state where the legislature is almost 80% Democrat.
Personally, I loved Hillary's pantsuit. But I knew about the homage to suffrage -- and she rocked it.
I thought Trump looked tidy at the RNC, too. He also wears nice suits.

It's not y'all's business unless I choose to share further. Since I haven't made any decision yet, there's nothing to share. Seriously. Besides, the election isn't even for several more months yet. That's a long time and many people will be changing who they vote for during that time. On a side note - I just noticed you formally changed your name. I may just shed a little tear or two.

To clarify, since my post to BeckyTech started such a rumble ... the reason I sassed her to begin with was because it wasn't an innocent question requesting an update. It sounded very pointed and accusatory. I added question marks at the end because I thought that softened my commentary a bit. YMMV

Boiling this bs down to what the candidates (or their wives) are wearing or how they look only distracts from the actual important issues of this campaign. It does. Clinton's whopper on the Sunday show should have received the attention it deserved from the press, but they are firmly in Clinton's camp so of course many didn't even mention it.

Gia, some things just don't warrant this level of notice. Merge mentioned this agreement with her husband in a casual way. It was made to show how two married people with different political views can happily stay married, and I'm pretty sure her post even had this on it. It's none of our business if they were joking around with each other or very serious. It's also none of our business if one or both of them decide that "contract" violates their conscience and they opt to express their legal right to vote for the person that they individually choose. moretimeplease - Nunya is new to me. What a wonderful word!

Sure all politicians lie. But not to this extent. It's the reason she has lost my vote. If I were to take all of my reasons for not wanting to vote for Hillary and boil them down together, the main ingredient would probably be her endless lies.

You want to know why politicians lie? Because we let them. We excuse them when they're on "our" side. By saying that all politicians lie.
And so they keep on lying. And they keep on getting elected. And then we wonder why Liar#1 and Liar#2 are the two major party candidates. And we argue about which liar lies more. And when nothing changes, we point fingers and blame the other side.
I sure wish we'd all stand together and reject the major parties' candidates. Because I guarantee you, nothing will change until we force them to.

I agree with you in theory, but it's been this way since the beginning of our history. The Campaign LiarYes, but in those days, they didn't have instant access to information like we do. If a candidate in 1800 lied to a group of people, or something was printed that was erroneous, it took longer to disprove the lies. Now we know within minutes. And still offer up excuses. With great technology comes great responsibility.

I know this doesn't fit the popular narrative, but according to the WaPo fact checkers, Hillary is way more truthful than Trump. Trump vs. Clinton: the Pinnocchio Count So Far
tl;dr: Trump was totally or mostly wrong 84% of the time; Hillary was "only" wrong 50% of the time. Trump was completely right 4% of the time; Hillary was right a whopping (not) 14% of the time. Nothing to write home about on either side, I admit that ... but Hillary remains far more truthful than Trump. It is a business that rewards exaggeration, glossing over unpleasantness, and downright untruthfulness, I am afraid.

I have never pretended to be otherwise. You are severely misguided in your thinking if you believe that my anger somehow disqualifies my opinion on this matter. You call me "disgruntled" and "bitter", insulting me, attempting to diminish me...as if it isn't right and proper for not just me, but all of us to be upset and disgusted in the face of this shamble of a political system we call the US government. The deeper question is why aren't you? Why have you decided to settle for someone who is, at best, honest only 50% of the time? Why aren't you right beside me demanding better instead of trying to put me down for not "falling in line behind her"? No, instead you fight against people like me who point out the wrongs. You defend the undefendable saying, "well she's better than the alternative" and you give no credence to those who will not undermine their conscience for your sake. You operate out of fear. I sincerely feel pity for you.

Many past presidential debates have been scheduled against baseball or football games, and somehow people managed. Perhaps if Trump had ever bothered to watch a presidential debate in the past, he'd be aware of that. My friend mentioned tonight that one of the Obama-Romney debates was scheduled during an NFL game. Not only that, there was a home town connection for one of the candidates: The Chicago Bears.

I thought you and your husband made a mutual pact not to vote for Hillary and Trump respectively. Have the two of you discussed this and released each other mutually? Or would you secretly vote for Hillary? Good grief. My hair just got blown back by these questions.

I personally think Jack says it best: Bottom line is the truth will no doubt result in at about 25% of the public liking it, 25% disliking it, 25% not believing it anyway and 25% who couldn't care less. I guess politicians figure lying might increase or decrease some of those odds. Btw 'you' in the above meme doesn't mean you specifically Nicksmom, just my thoughts on truth telling in general.

I sincerely feel pity for you. Well, sorry that you feel that way. It isn't an insult to say that a person is disgruntled. And you ARE bitter. I was bitter for awhile in 08; I recognize it when I see it. It shows in every political post that you write. It is not true that Hillary is only honest 50% of the time. In fact, that's ridiculous. And I'm pretty sure that you know it. And frankly, many of your posts imply that anyone who supports her is a gullible fool. You can think that if you want, but don't pretend that your anti-Hillary posts don't convey a certain patronizing tone. They do. As for not giving credence to those who don't support her, obviously everyone has a right to their opinion and their vote. I DO believe that voting third party is throwing away your vote-but I would never deny every citizen's right to stay home, vote third party, or vote for Trump. I suggest that you reread your own posts again, because you sure as hell don't give credence to anyone who supports Hillary..
