I don't really follow football, but my son is an entering freshman at Ohio State. I was hoping to go to a game, mostly because I want to see the marching band in person. I'll cheer for the football team, too.

Ugh, really, Elaine. Here I was having a perfectly fine day, & you had to post this. My little Wolverine heart is broken.
But I did forward it on to my Dad, home today from heart surgery. So you made an old man happy. And yes, we are one of those families divided. Dad & family, Ohio born & bred, his children, Michigan born & bred.

My Oklahoma Sooners are #2 and you know what they say about #2 trying harder.
I hope the Sooners are at the top of their game on September 17th when the Buckeyes come to play in Norman!

I've spent so much time in Ann Arbor this past year, and drove past the Big House several times a day in the past week. It is a wonderful town. And I am very glad that you guys picked up Harbaugh - he is a great coach and I'm looking forward to many years of Meyer vs. Harbaugh. My relatives who live in Ann Arbor are a divided family - my mom's cousin went to U of M and his wife went to Ohio State. So, I understand the division.

Well, I followed Georgia Tech while my daughter was there, but she graduated and I don't feel the need anymore. So I'll cheer for DS's school. I'm a little jealous because my college had a football team but back then they didn't even have bleachers -- this entire town built behind a stadium is totally new to me. Ha Ha! I had to look up TBDBL! I have to agree.

I love the NFL and for the first time in many many many years, we will have a football team in Los Angeles. I'm not a Rams fan but I'm glad we have a team back in the city.

If you guys thought the politics thread got heated just wait for football season...! I loathe Ohio State. I live in Ohio (used to live in COLUMBUS!) and I just couldn't take the rabid fans anymore. I'm a Notre Dame fan (and alum... for generations in my family, it's hereditary) and my favorite story about living in Columbus is one football Saturday I was in the grocery store wearing my Irish gear and all of a sudden the GROCERY STORE starts playing the Ohio State fight song. I walk by a couple in Michigan gear and we just roll our eyes and try to get out of there ASAP. Any enemy of my enemy is my friend so... GO BLUE, too!

Divided family here too. Grandparents, parents, DH and I are all Buckeyes. Brother, SIL, and niece are Wolverines. Thanksgiving is fun in our house.

Well, I haven't heard of Notre Dame fans flipping over cars and lighting couches on fire... in their own city ... after a win... But truly, I didn't say the reason I don't like OSU is because of the fans. I already didn't like OSU and living in their nest was too much. Surely that's understandable.

My boys leave in a little over 2 weeks for their sophomore year at OSU. My DH got his MBA from Michigan, so house divided here as well. DH and I got our undergrads from A&M, but really not much to celebrate there lately.
