I quit drinking black tea (kidney stones) and coke (for the most part) and have become addicted to Gold Peak sweet green tea, which has a fruity flavor. I'd like to make my own though, so I can avoid the caffeine (which bothers my legs at night). I don't really want to buy a bunch of fresh fruit, especially later in the year when it's not in season. Has anyone tried making fruity ice tea using fruit juice or fruit flavored water?

There are lots of fruit flavored teas that you can purchase and make at home. One of my favorites is Tazo hibiscus. I steep it and then pour over ice. I love it plain or with a little lemon.

I use Lipton's Mangosteen and Peach tea. I toss 8 tea bags into a half gallon jar and put it out in the sun for about 4 hours. Then I add stevia to taste.
If you like the thicker mouth feel of sweet tea, boil a cup of water and add a cup of sugar. Simmer for a minute until the sugar dissolves, cool, and add to the tea. I'd only use 7 cups of water to steep the tea in to allow for the cup of simple syrup.

Could you buy a small bottle of a good quality fruit flavoring and just add a drop or two?

I would use fruit flavoured tea. Most of them are caffeine free.

I love TAZO passion iced tea which is a hibiscus flavored tea. For years I've been boiling 2 cups of water and alternating one teabag between the two cups, add some stevia and lemon, then put in the fridge overnight. They now sell an Iced version but I haven't tried it. I feel my way is probably more cost effective.

Many of the 'brand name' teas have a caffeine free version on green tea. Celestial Seasonings, Lipton, Twinings. I personally like Twinings.
For fruit flavor, I buy Monin syrups for my tea. I always have Raspberry, Blackberry and Mango on my shelf. I love that Gold Peak Green Tea you mentioned! But, I can't drink it in the evening because of the caffeine. I think the Mango flavoring comes the closest to the Gold Peak tea. It only takes a small, small amount to flavor and sweeten. I think I use 1/2 tsp, if that
If you order directly from Monin, it is free shipping with a $20 purchase. Very affordable and a big glass bottle lasts a long time.

I make plain tea for my husband and he adds Gold Peak Raspberry to it. Just enough flavor and sugar to make him happy

I use 3 bags of Tetley tea and 1 bag of fruit tea, when I need a little bit of fruit flavor.
I doubt brands matter, if you have a base you like, just add a bag (or two) of the accent flavor.

I've tried the iced version and it is good as well, it just makes a pitcher as opposed to a glass at a time.

I make a big batch of plain caffeine free green tea in a pot on the stove then add sweetener. I put it in a pitcher in the fridge with frozen fruit added in, whatever kind you want. It's sweet, caffeine free, and juicy/delicious!

I add a couple of spoonfuls of the frozen concentrate of raspberry lemonade mix to a pitqcher of tea. That sounds so good! I brew plain old black tea from the cheapest Tea bags I can find. I prefer the ones from sav-a- lot bc they are tagless and not individually wrapped. I make a pitcher at a time. I used to boil the water but now I just get it hot out of the tap and.let it steep overnight in the fridge. I add lemon juice from concentrate and fake sweetener (I'm diabetic). I drink it constantly at home and often freeze it to take to the beach.
