Never regret the vitamix!!! My fiancé is notoriously cheap and about popped a vein when I told him I bought a vitamix and it was more than $300. Now he gets it. I use it every day and it is my pride and joy! We even go talk to the vitamix guy doing demos at Costco. Just for funsies!!

Um, no recipes really. I make smoothies every morning refined through personal taste and trial and error and use it to do normal blender stuff. You can look up how to do peanut butter (yummmmmm!!) or when you make a soup, like potato, blend some of the soup to make it creamy. Sorry i can't help more! It does come with a recipe book but I never used it.

For recipes, I'd try Pinterest or googling. I have a few recipes we use frequently (tomato soup and salsa verde are our two most-used-I can dig them up if you want them), but the biggest use of ours is for regular blender stuff and for smoothies. It's why I made the investment-I wanted smoothies that were absolutely smooth. I've never regretted it

To add I have several other appliances that cost a lot less but I use this waaaay more often. So, like shoes, if you spend more but use them more often, your cost per use just keeps going down. That's totally my philosophy too. If I ever feel the need to justify an expensive purchase, this is how I do it.

We bought ours when the Costco demo guy dished up some apples and spinach with a bit of basil and lime thrown in and enough ice to make a frozen "dessert". OMG - there are no words.
It changed my sugar-free, dairy-free, gluten-free life.

I admired them for years and finally caved....the only remorse I have is waiting so long. I make smoothies and the best hummus ever in there.
Those on a budget I bought a refurbished one straight from vitamix and waited until they had their sale, it gave me an additional 25% off. I paid just over $200 for the one that has different settings and the tall container. I went with the tall container as it is easier to mix for one vs the wide base one.
Enjoy!

I bought one a couple of months ago because my Ninja was wearing out. I make smoothies everyday and my DH made some very awesome margaritas with it. I can't wait till it cools off a little bit to make soup. The first soup we made with ours was that yummy cold tomato soup, gazpacho. We have also made hot soups, divinely smooth hot cocoa, lemon curd, smoothies, frozen fruit yogurt, fruit slushies, etc etc etc How do you make the hot chocolate? It never occurred to me to try and make hot chocolate in it! I love my vitamix, enjoy it! I have yet to try a green smoothie, because I just don't think I'll like the taste. Maybe someday...

SunnySmile , I usually blend until I can't see any more seedy bits. That usually takes a minute or less, but if I check and still see seeds/bits, I just keep going until I can't see them anymore. As long as you don't blend long enough for your stuff to get warm, I'd just keep going. I do start on low/variable, dial up to the highest speed on that, and then switch to high speed for a bit. I blend the crap out of my smoothies b/c I don't want any pulpy, chunky, seedy bits at all. I have issues I'm sorry I don't have a more specific answer I do use frozen fruit most of the time b/c I like that it makes my smoothies thicker/frostier. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not. ETA: You should definitely try a green smoothie with spinach. You can't taste it at all. I've gotten to the point where I toss some spinach into almost every smoothie I make. Save

My fiancé is notoriously cheap and about popped a vein when I told him I bought a vitamix and it was more than $300. DH is a self-professed 'cheap bastard,' and he got that exact look when I started telling him I wanted to get a Vitamix. I researched for quite a while, and worked on him for a month or more one year when we were getting just about the cost of one back on a tax return. He was a hard sell, but I pestered and begged, and now he will freely admit that I was right about it being worth it He has also been known to chat up a demo guy or two. He loved some kind of apple juice, banana, and spinach 'ice cream' one of them made. He made it so often for a while there that he burned himself out on it.

The Vitamix heats it. Any recipe that calls for heated milk has worked well for us. My son likes the solid Mexican chocolate bars the most. Yummmmmm!

If it's a fruit or seed like chia that leaves bits, we do that with some liquid and the spinach first.

I never have any seeds - the smoothies are super smooth. If you aren't doing so already, either use the berries frozen,or add lumps of frozen spinach or banana to the smoothie so you can blend for longer. The alternative is to use the ingredients you are using already, blend for longer even if it warms the smoothie up, then chill it in a glass in the fridge for 10-15 mins before drinking. I have been known to over blend mine once in a while, and I do this.

My husband ordered one from QVC on Sunday. I am excited to try smoothies. Can some of you post your favorite smoothie recipes? Please pretty please and thank you??!!
Just wanted to edit: for me, personally, I have not liked anything my husband has made in the Vitamix. Everything tastes like plastic to me. he made the tomato soup recipe (gross too oniony); the chocolate ice cream (watery); several kinds of smoothies (they gag me...too thick). I feel like we wasted $500. JUST MY OPINION.
