Ahem... you actually caught me while browsing Ali Express for cute things like that Pink Flamingo drink holder, talked about in another thread. nicolep You found some cute stuff! I would think twice about the ink pads. I once got a cheap ink pad on sale from a local online store, most probably bought from Ali Express, and while the color was a gorgeous royal blue, the 'ink' was more like acrylic paint and it could not be used for stamping! Had to throw it in the bin. When it comes to products where the quality is key, such as inks, I would go with the large and famous US brands. But for embellishments and washi tapes and anything stationery, you get very good products from Ali Express. Did you see the fruit pens SC had in the shop during the pop up pen store? www.aliexpress.com/item/0-35mm-Creative-Sweet-Fruits-Gel-Pen-Ink-Pen-Promotional-Gift-Stationery-School-Office-Writing-Pens/32557087668.html

Be aware of one thing, I do know that SOME of the Ali Express have, I think it was, the word random in some of the descriptions where THEY pick out the die shape they want to send you, that you will NOT necessarily get the die pictured.
This happened to a couple of people on my other scrapbooking message board. They did ask for, and I think both got a refund but it is a pain to order and expect one thing and get another.
So read carefully and if there is a place to add additional instructions, you might say you do NOT want ANY substitutions unless they ask permission first.

I'm glad you started this post, and glad for the i formation others have to share. I've checked out the site before and was convinced that at those prices there must be some sort of catch!

Thank you so much for posting this, AngieandSnoopy ! I forgot to mention that. Read the product page carefully before you put products in your cart so you know what you're buying. Sometimes they sell several designs and then you have to choose your design on the page or include a message in the cart, telling them exactly which one you want. The sellers are usually very accommodating. Once I wanted to buy paperclips and there were 6 designs but only 5 clips in a lot. Which one would they exclude? I sent them a message to ask and they told me they would send me all 6 for the same price. Before I got to order they changed the lots so all 6 were included.

So, ultimately are you all saying that it is SAFE to purchase from Ali Express. I am only interested in the Enamel Dots, wood veneer and washi. I have several large projects, some of you may be aware of - My Courthouse Project, my post office project, my National Register of Historic places project, and those projects have a set page design and they use a lot of the dots and washi, and I have never even had one piece of wood veneer so I would like to get some of that. I have always thought Ali Express was a scam and have never ordered. So simple bottom line question. Is it safe?
Thank you all.

I always thought it was a scam, too!
I have to admit, I'm so, so tempted by the clear stamps. On the 1st page of the 'clear stamp' link Nicolep shared, I saw the exact clear stamps I received as a 'freebie' item received when I purchased a British card making magazine. I would love to be able to get the stamps without buying the magazine because it's such an expensive mag.
I am also wondering about how secure the payment will be. I'm wondering if a prepaid Visa card would be the way to go.
In the meantime, I'll just look and make a wish list. I'm really waiting to see all that is in the Stampin Up holiday catalog. I'm sure there will be something I just 'have to have' in there. LOL

If others have ordered and can give guidance on payment that would be great. It's not like my cc# isn't everywhere on the internet, but something about ordering direct from overseas makes it seem more vulnerable.

They don't have the monthly fees like some of the other cards do after a certain time. Also, if you add money to it at Walmart, there is no fee. The only fee I can think of is that sometimes there is a onetime $5 fee to get/activate the card. I was lucky, they were having free activation when I got mine about 1-1/2 years ago. The ones I saw DO take American Express so the BlueBird might be the way to go.

I have purchased from Ali Express quite a bit. I haven't had any problems with my credit card. And while it took awhile for delivery, it was worth it.
The quality of the washi, wood veneer and enamel dots is no different that purchasing at a LSS. But I do agree, it's important to read the full description. I learned that the hard way with my first order...lol...I didn't realize I needed to choose the die that I had wanted and I was sent a random one. Useable, but not the one I wanted. Lesson learned.
Happy shopping!!!

I have always thought Ali Express was a scam and have never ordered. So simple bottom line question. Is it safe? Thank you all. I've ordered at least 20 times during the last couple of years and never had a problem. As a precaution, though, I never let them put my credit card on file (you get the option when you check out) so I have to fill in my credit card details every time I shop. But I'm not really comfortable putting my cc info on file with US businesses or anywhere else either, so I always avoid it if possible. I wish they would take Paypal but, as I understand it, Paypal won't do business in China? Or is it the Chinese not being allowed by their government to use Paypal? Maybe a prepaid card would work? Funny, now when I walk into a shop I look at the stuff and think (and sometimes recognize) that the products are purchased from Ali Express, haha. Everyone's shopping from there, including store owners. Every single one of the scrapbooking kit clubs do it! #sorrynotsorry to be the biggest enabler in this forum. These days I'm looking for Christmas gifts at Ali Express. There are so many awesome things and they cost next to nothing...

So I might have just purchased 3 color combinations (18 sheets, 6 each) from this listing: www.aliexpress.com/store/product/6-Colors-Decoration-6pcs-lotscrapbooking-Stickers-Sugar-Sprinkles-Self-adhesive-Enamel-Resin-Sticker-ES031/1084794_32713240768.html?spm=2114.8147860.0.151.rj1k6qJust an FYI. I use a mastercard. Since I cannot use paypal, I have a credit card that I can generate temporary account numbers with. I do that for these kinds of purchases (and also every time I do a $5 kit promo with SC, I just don't trust them...even after using a temp account number, I replace it with a used up visa gift card...yes, I trust them that little). I have only purchased from Ali Express once before for another type of enamel dots (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/china-scrapbook-supplies-embellishments-enamel-shapes-for-scrapbooking-enamel-stickers-self-adhesive-enamel-shapes/32365190224.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.69.D43bsA but at the time they were almost half off and shipping was free) and they are my most used right now. I'm glad I bought a whole lot for myself versus sharing because having only 3 of each shape and one of each size in each color makes it hard to not dig out another sheet to keep going). I also did a group buy for plain circle dots from this same seller. All good experiences. This is my first time buying with the seller linked at the top of my comment. Happy enabling. I had some others from them (Simple Stories identical ones) in my cart but dumped them for these tonight when I found them. Love at first sight.

AliExpress was suggested on a decorating site. They have amazing throw pillow covers for $7 or less. The ones I want are $4.
I was rereading this thread just for site reviews, and now want to order metal dies. RefuPeas are such enablers!

I love aliexpress! I don't buy unless they have positive, detailed reviews and feedback. Sometimes you can get an even better deal using their mobile app. I've only had a couple of problems out of about 50 orders. In my experience If you have a problem and contact the seller they will go out of their way to correct any issues. I haven't purchased a lot of scrappy stuff but what I have gotten including some clear stamps, I have been very happy with!!!

I have recently ordered a bunch of Washi from Ali Express and although it said it would take a month to get here some came in a week, more the week after. The quality is very good and it is super cute washi. I also ordered some acrylic stamps that just came and they are very cute (planner type stamps). The only thing to be aware of is that when you load your cart you may be buying from lots of different sellers - that is why some came quicker that others. Not a big deal. Also all the stuff I bought had free shipping, but I did see some that did not.

I order from there a-l-l the time. I am one of the people that Angie mentioned that bought dies that had the word "random" in the description. I ended up getting a partial refund but the amount was so small. I did have something I could use or gift even if not what I ordered so I was willing to just get it done and I didn't quibble.
The only advice I have is to look at as many pages as you can stand before you order. Each picture is a different store and prices are all over the place. I have paid $1.50 for a stamp that was listed by others at over $5.
ETA - you can do a search there for wooden buttons and you will find wood veneer stars, hearts, and butterflies in smaller amounts (50/100) for about $1 ******here are the stars
www.aliexpress.com/item/100Pcs-Mixed-Star-Shape-Wooden-Buttons-DIY-Scrapbook-Craft-Clothing-Decor-Button-Christmas-Gift/32500817865.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.89.yPpVzr
No time to search for other links right now but the buttons are worth looking at too.
Click the box for 'free shipping' to filter out the others - you can also filter the prices so you don't get all the big lots meant for businesses.

Yes, I think you will have to sign up with a username and password so you can log in, because I don't think you can do much when not logged in. I hope that's the solution so you can to snag all those dots.
