So I was reading on FB and saw that Scraptastic wont be offering 12x12 kits any longer.
Thoughts?
(I have asked for a source for the info and haven't heard back yet...but I will link to it when I get it).

I literally just read a post from another pea, went to reply to it, and I got an error message that the thread can't be found.
She sounded like she was on the design team.
Was that you?

I am not surprised. There was a red flag with all of those exclusives. Hopefully, Hip Kit will be able to persevere through the AC problems.

Sorry! I deleted it since I saw this post. Victoria Calvin who is on the DT had information on her FB page. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - Scraptastic Kit Club So, if you are a Scraptastic subscriber you may have received notification from the owner of Scraptastic regarding changes to the kit club. Sadly, August will be the last month that Scraptastic will offer a scrapbooking kit and add on. The owner struggled with getting product from manufacturers, issues with the website...all causing a ton of stress. She has decided to pull back a bit. Scraptastic will be keeping the following subscriptions: - Plan On It Subscription (planner stickers) - Plan On It Sticker Subscription (planner stickers) - This Life Noted Kit (pocket scrapbooking kit) If you are subscriber, please check your email for more information. Design Team: The design team members have been asked to stay on and work with the remaining kits. If you have any questions, contact the Scraptastic Club.

I first posted this same thing on the SC post, then deleted it because it wasn't SC related. And nope - not on their DT.

Oh dear hope it's not the start of a general decline. I was just thinking I might actually sign up to Hip Kit after I saw a sneak of the August kit.

Can't say I am surprised. The writing has been on the wall IMO for a year. I was stunned to see them add new kits at the start of the year. I feel bad for her, but rarely felt like I received sincere customer service...can't be successful when you have an attitude with your customers.
American Crafts isn't the only game in town. She could have opted to include Echo Park/Carta Bella, Authentique, Simple Stories, Bella Blvd, Elle's Studio, Lawn Fawn (they carry basic patterns), Pinkfresh, My Mind's Eye, Photoplay and many others not under the AC umbrella versus going all exclusive and adding production to her plate.

Thank you for saying what I was thinking. Its been talked about for ever here that their customer service was not top notch and with shipping issues, well, I am kinda shocked its not the whole company. You can run a good product into the ground with lousy communication and crappy shipping. (hello? SC are you listening??!) People have been voicing their concerns and no one was listening. I do think that blaming it on AC is wrong. They aren't the only game in town. Yes, AC has had its issues but that was a perfect time to get a partnership with some of the smaller companies who never get any love. Totally a wasted chance.Yeah it would have been more work to find new companies but definitely not impossible. Maybe they will rebound after making this cut - I don't think so. I think they will not recover from cutting 12x12 scrappers out.

I understand why, but she is cutting off the biggest draw for her club, I think. I think she would have been better off with just a main SB and main PL and stopping with everything else. I think decorating planners is a fad, even if it might be her bread and butter right now...in the long run, I don't see this being a wise business decision. I also think shipping late is not on the distributors...I think she is cash strapped and had to get funds from subscribers before ordering (evidence to me is the digital images of kit contents versus actual photos).

I agree with this. I think she may be blaming AC, and it may have contributed to her stress and difficulties, but I am pretty certain it cannot be the full story. AC's warehouse issues seem to have cleared up anyway. I had no issues ordering basically the entirety of Shimelle's new line Go Now Go, and plenty of other kit clubs seem to be doing fine, getting product now. It is a shame, in that I am always sad to hear about shrinkage in the scrapbooking and craft industry. Save

I agree, Impearia, that it is a sad time. The downsizing of Scraptastic Club's offerings is sad news to me. I'm on the team, and will be stepping down after the last scrapbooking kit is released. I'm upset about this, as Scraptastic Club was easily one of the best teams that I have ever worked with.
It saddens me to see comments blaming Jessica and speculating about other options she had, because I know that she gave it her all, despite some very frustrating circumstances. I also completely understand why she has to pull back from the scrapbooking kits at the moment. Those who suggested above that she should work with other manufacturers should be aware that she in fact did, actually (including with some of the manufacturers mentioned in the comments above), but only when the available product worked with the vision she had in mind for the kits. Jessica did not want to resort to creating a-kit-any-kit, and wanted to stay true to her aesthetic. The venture into exclusive products/kits for a few months was a brave one, and I, too, was nervous about what that would mean in the long run, but it turned out that I really loved the exclusives. I admire Jessica's resourcefulness and her discernment regarding product choices, as it makes clear that she wants to remain true to what feels right to her. I respect the decision that she has made, as saddened as I am, and as worried about the industry as this makes me.

jills I am sad for you as well. It is always difficult to have to leave something you love. While I was checking email I noticed I had received an email from Scraptastic outlining her reasons behind the change: Hello Scraptastic Friends!
I have dreaded writing this and it leaves me with a heavy heart. August will be the last regular scrapbook kit and add-on from Scraptastic Club. There are many reasons for this including the stress, issues with products, and industry changes. All of those things lead to me working pretty much 24/7 and having no family time. That's not all though, it's definitely causing health problems for me and I fear what will happen if I continue on in this manner.
To re-iterate, at this time I will be keeping the This Life Noted {with changes}, Plan On It kit, Plan On It sticker kit and Plan On It individual sticker sheets, only. This decision was hard to make and was a long time coming.
xoxo, Jessica It sounds as if it was truly a combination of things that led to this difficult decision.

I'm sorry to see any of the "standards" leaving the industry. I really worry about our hobby as a whole! I very much enjoyed scraptastic and only quit to save money.

I can understand the difficulty working with AC and non AC companies. I can imagine the monthly stress operating a kit club. I assist my LSS with planning and purchasing products for an annual scrapbook event she does for 350 scrapers. We do eight double page layout kits and goodie bags. It is shocking how hard it is to find a company to sell us 350 pieces of whatever we are picking out for the layouts!! It is a struggle and sometimes we are limited to what they have NOT what we want! And every kit has to be the same along with the goodie bag stuff. It is sad and alarming each year how difficult it is to get products and she doesn't even look at AC, they will screw you every time! Sad to hear the news with Scraptastic. 😞

I subbed to scraptastic after seeing some of mercy tiaras kit reveal videos I loved having the choice of 2 kits I dropped after the issues with shippingand only exclusives and the plan to go to a single kit though Shame because the 4 kits I got were good I never had a customer service issue though and I guess I have very low expectations of shipping times cos I am in Australia and everything takes a long time to swim down here.......!

This was when I stopped as well. For me, things were never the same once the new site came about. Trying to get the new site going was such a nightmare (not real sure if it was anyones fault...or ). Trying to order through email was a major turn off for me.

I subscribed for quite a long time. So sad to hear this. Even sadder that the owner was getting sick from the stress. Being a small business owner is hard work.

Sad to hear the news with Scraptastic. 😞 It's difficult because, like the company I worked for, they didn't order product until after the shows, and placed the order for what was pre-purchased, and then some extra. Kit clubs were always prompted to order as early as possible so that we would have enough for their needs. If they waited until after the shows, and other stores/clubs had already started purchasing, we could not guarantee that there would be enough left. In very few instances, we would place a reorder just for a kit club, IF they needed enough for a run that would not cost us an arm and a leg, and leave us with tons of leftovers that would sit in the warehouse collecting dust, because once the initial excitement was over for the latest and greatest, no one wanted it anymore, so we got stuck with it.

Ugh. I haven't subbed to the SB kit there; I do sub to the PL and planner kits. The slow shipping and lack of communication has made it so that I am likely to drop, even though I like the cards and colors. To me, the good part of a sub is stability--I jumped ship at SC not because I stopped enjoying their aesthetic (I still like it) but because their policies started to suck and dealing with their various errors and CS issues wasn't worth the hassle.
I feel for business people who have problems like AC to navigate. I don't want to see it or deal with it, however--my hobby is supposed to be fun.

I subbed to Scraptastic for years but just stopped last fall. I did not like the exclusives and I thought I was getting less product than before. That said, I never had any issues with customer service, Jessica always answered my email quickly and fairly if I had a problem. I'm sorry to see her drop the 12x12 kits, I'm not interested in the other stuff she sells.
