Happy Reading! I knew some of this simply because when I get in the groove, sometimes I almost fall asleep while knitting or crocheting. The Health Benefits of Knitting

'Tis true! Knitting feels like rocking to me. It's that repetitive, relaxing motion that calms and relaxes. Back when I had my transplants, I knew I was going to be vision compromised for a while and I learned to knit beforehand with my eyes closed. I still often knit and close my eyes and it's almost like meditating.
I try to fit in even just a few minutes of knitting each day.

I am surprised how relaxed knitting and crochet makes me feel. I didn't even realise I wasn't relaxed normally until I started this up again after many years. I can sit up till the early hours without noticing the time passing and go to bed feeling very calm. Even just a few rows/rounds during the day feels good too.

Thanks for posting this. I totally believe in the power of crochet to relax you. I find that it is my go to thing when I am suffering from depression. I like to put Friends on Netflix and crochet my day away. It is a way for me to deal with the depression without being completely overwhelmed by it.

I struggle with the months of January & February every year. This past year I decided to not work on small projects and take on a blanket thinking it might be relaxing and satisfying to do something larger. During those two months I made four ripple afghans. I'll make some scarves and little projects this fall, but when winter comes around I'll get back to blankets.

I, too, crochet or knit every night while my DH and I watch television. It is such a stress reliever, especially when it has been a particularly bad day with the boys. On weekend afternoons, however, I do sometimes get so relaxed and drowsy that I have to put it down and take a nap. Though that isn't a bad thing.

The best kind of nap is one that is intentional.

I knew it! I crochet when I I'm anxious because it helps take my mind off of it. I always have a project going.
