So none of the minis sold out - a few of the stamps, most of the albums. Hmmmmm. What would you take away from that if you were analyzing the DD market? People doing more DIY? People have too much stash? People didn't like the colors/vibes of the minis and are going to wing it this year maybe mixing DIY w/stash? The value is still there for the albums and stamps, but a tougher sell for the kits. I'd chalk it up to not enough paper, cheaper looking embellishments, too many way out there designs & colour schemes, and nothing for the holiday traditionalist. The sheen has also worn off of all things SC and unfortunately Ali's affiliation with them has probably driven some customers away or made us less willing to fork over $$$ out of FOMO. Also, after trying out other kit clubs, I think those of us who've cancelled subs are more aware of the great options outside of the Inked umbrella and willing to wait to see what they have to offer.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

I'm sure the luster has worn off. I remember the days when DD would sell out in minutes.
I do have to say tho that I finally watched Pam Garrisons unboxing video and I CANT WAIT to get mine and combine it with last years KP's kit that I never used.

How long do you think they'd wait to put the minis on sale? Or would they wait 'til next year right before releasing 2017 DD?

I can only imagine the 💩 that would hit the fan if they reduced the 2016 kits this year. I'd look for them during a Christmas in July sale as a way to build the hype for the 2017 sneaks in August. Considering none have sold out, it would be foolish to tick off and alienate customers who preordered at full price.

Yeah, I would seriously doubt they will be on sale before June of next year.

(I actually got 2 because I loved it so much, but whatever) and I had KP's last year...thanks for reminding me they would probably work well together! Save

Yeah, I would seriously doubt they will be on sale before June of next year. The irony in all this is that quite a few DD-ers end up putting their album together months later anyway... The smartest cookie in the box would find a way to vaccinate themselves against FOMO and accept their fate as only having a decent amount of free time during the next summer holidays to get to the project, wait for the sale and get their products only then. That is, if said cookie is not an international customer because *broken record alert* the shipping costs for non-US customers shoot up for the DD of Christmas past sales. But hey, according to SC, there's a completely logic explanation to it and AF will happily confused-explain it to you on the boards.

So, my box came yesterday. I got the white album with gold polka dots, the main kit, and Jasmine Jones' kit. I have to say, the main kit looks great in person. I was originally not thrilled with the color scheme, but I think it can be Christmassy when I bring in stuff from my stash and I like all the white instead of dark colors. There also seems to be a lot there. My one big peeve is that there aren't options for numbers, just one set (and none of the mini kits had number options either, only Jasmine's kit which has tiny number stickers).
I can't wait to see Ali's foundation pages, last year I did mine right when I got the kit and then regretted not waiting to see hers for ideas. So this year I'm trying to wait patiently...
I am seriously regretting getting Jasmine's kit though. First of all, everything that was supposed to be black is grey. Not like faded black that some SC cards come as, but legit grey. I guess the thought was it matches the grey/gold album, but personally I think grey/gold look awful together. There is a 4x6 grey card with gold lettering and it just clashes IMO.
Secondly, the spelling mistakes make cards unusable. Twas has the apostrophe after the T, like t'was. But the worse one is that she spelled Santa Claus, Santa Clause! Clause with an "e" is part of a sentence, not Santa Claus! I'm so frustrated because otherwise that would've been one of the best cards. Ugh, I feel like I just threw $20 away on that kit.

I'm glad to hear that you like Ali's kit! But two spelling errors in one kit is terrible!

Maybe, it's a filler card though and I can't quite remember what the phrase is. I think it might just bug me too much because I hate spelling errors. Good idea though!

lasteve1 did you email them about the spelling mistakes? How horrible. I didn't, but I went back and watched the unboxing video and you can see it there. So I should've known
ETA: I just sent a convo and said I didn't want a refund or anything I just wanted to note the errors and hope they do better in the future.

This came up a while ago either on FB or in comments on Ali's blog, and the response was that Jasmine meant to spell Santa Clause that way, I guess in reference to the movie? Seems like a more appropriate move in the Studio DIY kit where it's a bit more playful and has pop culture references.

Too often sc have items with mistakes Totally agree. And I'm sorry but 'deciding' to misspell things sounds like a lame excuse.

This is typical SC/Inked: never admit guilt, always redirect attention towards the customer who "didn't get it". I think those who have Jasmine's mini stand a serious case to get refunded. There is a reason grey is not advised with gold foil: you need some saturation level differences to make the metallic foils show up well and pop. Also, if you advertised black, black it should be, period. As for the "Jolly ol' Santa Clause" card, it's a farce. That's a mistake. No ifs or buts. Have you searched your stash for gold stars and hearts to see if one is the right size and shape to add over that letter E and cover it up? Same for the misspelled "'T was the night before Christmas" card: you could create a starry sky pattern with gold stars just above the text with just the one little star "accidentally" covering up the misplaced apostrophe. Not that I think scrapping should be about this type of challenge or that these errors are acceptable! I feel so sorry for those who ordered and feel deceived with the final product. You're totally right to feel crappy about it!

I just opened my DD box and I'm pleasantly surprised. The (gold dot) album is lovely. I didn't order Ali's kit. For once, FOMO didn't prompt me to order everything the minute (or hour late) it was released. I'd like to see what other companies offer this month.

Too often sc have items with mistakes And they always say the designer "meant it to be that way." I get the breaking grammar rules, but when it's traditional phrases in a holiday kit, spell it the way the majority does. SC should stick to creating new patterns, not new rules on how to use an apostrophe. SaveSave

Has anyone posted about this over on the SC board? This needs to be brought up over there, where others (and Ali) will see it.
