I wore that look about 5 years ago. Not such a fan anymore.
Eta: I still mix patterns - I'm just not as into floral as I used to be...but I'll wear a striped Breton top, jeans and leopard flats

I love stripes and florals together! I love pattern mixing and I'm trying to get better at it. It's all about pattern sizes, IMO. I think pattern mixing looks fun and fashion forward, both in clothing and interior design.

In the same color family, I think the stripes and florals are cute. One of those things, though, that you have to be careful with so it isn't too overdone.

I LOVE it and have a lot of it. It's been big for at least a few years. Clothes should never be boring. I like it too. Always reminds me of Kate Spades style.

It's a JCrew staple, mixing stripes with patterns. The pieces in both of those pictures are JCrew.

I am old and frequently wear stripes and patterns but no florals though, not my thing. I have no fashion sense at all and it is just because the colors go together and I hate thinking about what to wear.

When I was at Barnes & Noble this weekend a guy walked in wearing plaid shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. I also saw a guy wearing a kilt as well.
These days it seems like people are wearing whatever is comfortable. Or, maybe with the guy with the plaid and Hawaiian print had nothing else clean. The guy with the kilt wore it well.
I'm not a fan of mixed patterns.

I like those examples, but yeah I couldn't pull it off. I don't think I'm 'cute' enough.. lol... I got the tall part down.. I just have lots of curves!! blech.
There is a British lady at my school and she is very tall and VERY skinny.. she pulls outfits together that are crazy.. At first I am like whatttttt then about two minutes later, I am loving it.. every.time. She is a genius.. and she is not that young.. She is early to mid 40s.. maybe a little younger....I remember last year she wore a plaid skirt.. red and greys.. to her knees, like a pencil skirt and a grey shirt with black birds all over it. It was totally cute.. on me???.. someone would be barfing... haha

I think the flowers are fine but the animal print looks terrible.

As someone with a pear shaped body, I prefer to wear pants that are a solid, dark color. I prefer tops with a pattern but I'm cheap and usually wear solid t-shirts. I like the first example, but not the second. I do have a pink and white striped tee, so I guess I should be on the hunt for leopard.

for anyone who wants some more fun outfit ideas, check out any of these: Ephemera blog <--- GREAT clothing thrifter!! Not Dead Yet Style blog Visible Monday blog post(check out any of the links that are at the bottom of this post- there are a number of outfit bloggers of a 'certain age' who post on the "Visible Monday" posts-- meaning, *we're not dead yet, so be visible with what you wear and how you dress.* These ladies have some great / fun fashion sense, in my opinion.

Mixing patterns is a thing, the first picture is pretty but the animal print is fugly!

Fashion always cycles around. This isn't new. It's like the bodysuits that are also back in. ICK!!! I don't mind the mixing of the patterns, though I do think it looks a bit 70s/retro. If that's your look, then go for it!

I, personally, am sick of fashion "rules" and would be glad to see them go. Take no notice of them, they were probably written by someone who thinks 'khaki pants' are a good idea. ummmm...wait. What is wrong with khaki pants? I mean, I get that the pleated mom pants are not good, but...

I think it can be cute. It can also be incredibly ugly. It just depends on the combination.

Clearly I'm too stuck in my ways, I don't like the look at all. But I guess I'm old. I think it would look silly on me.

I've done pattern-mixing for years and love the juxtaposition of a floral next to a stripe. I don't wear any animal prints EVER, so I would never do anything like the second image. When I turned 50, I decided to fight becoming invisible and irrelevant and took on the challenge of making my dress part of my creative expression. I have fun with it. crimsoncat05 thanks for linking that ephemera blog. I hadn't seen that one, but Not Dead Yet is in my blog feed.
