I am planning a vacation to Orlando and found Allegiant Airlines has good fairs but I've read several bad reviews about flights being cancelled and not rescheduled.
Has anyone flown with them and how was your experience? Thanks

Cheap. No frills. Never had a problem.
Their pilots wanted to go on strike and were prevented from doing so and all of a sudden had began to have all these "safety" issues that resulted in emergency landings that naturally made the news.
I've never felt unsafe on any of their plane even during all that mess.

Read and add up all the additional fees & taxes. They weigh everything, even your purse. Great for a quick trip with little luggage but the additional fees really add up the cost of the extra flight.

I've never traveled with Allegiant, but many family members (including DH) have. Everything is an add-on: priority boarding, seat selection, baggage, etc. The bottom line, once we add everything, is we can fly 2 family members between Bellingham and San Diego for less than one ticket between Vancouver & SD, so do use Allegiant regularly. We have never had problems with delayed or canceled flights.

My boss has used them for business trips with no problem. He generally just takes one carry one bag.

My mom has led them a few times, they fly to an airport that is closest to her destination BUT they do charge for everything They weight it, measure it and charge for it You can pay the luggage fees online before you go which is less expensive than doing it at the airpot, also print your ticket as they charge to do that as well My mom and aunts never had an issue but beware of all the hidden costs

oh and depending on where the flights are to and from they don't fly every day of the week. Flying to Grand Island they only fly something like tuesday thursday and friday but not daily so be sure to check they fly on the days you need to come and go

We have flown with them many times without any problems. We love how they have direct flights to Vegas and FL - all the other airlines have a connection from ND.

Thanks for the replies. I like the idea of flying into he smaller airport like Sanford. I think that would just be easier than the bigger airport.

Twice. Never ever again. Their planes were a mess, too many extra fees, bad customer service.

I personally have never flown them.
My office mate has several times, very minor issues.
My XDH has many times, and HATES them...but it's the only way to get direct flights to Vegas where he has to go for work a lot. They don't fly daily (from here), and the flights are 90% of the time delayed by hours. I laugh at him everytime he books with them thinking this time will be different.
My parents have also used them, and hate them for all the nickel and dime charges.

I agree with everyone about all the extra fees but when it comes right down to it they get you to your destination safely. I guess for me it's like driving a Pinto vs a BMW. They will both get you to where you are going, one is just nicer than the other.
I like to use them to fly from Eugene (smaller airport and closer than Portland) to Oakland or LA to visit family. I just pack a really small bag and call it my purse. I've never had anything weighed, is that new? Only one time was I delayed and it was for several hours.

I was scheduled to fly home to Orlando from Springfield Mo last Friday. Got to the airport and 6 hrs later, our flight was cancelled because the plane needed a part..... So the next flight to Orlando was on MONDAY!!!!! We were not happy! No offer for a partial refund, no offer for lodging...

We chartered with Allegiant from Kansas City to Orlando for a high school band trip. Even though we sent a full manifest of the instruments and luggage we planned to bring, they could not figure out how to load the plane. We were 2 1/2 hours late leaving Kansas City and they managed to leave one kids luggage behind in KC which included the uniform he needed to march in 2 parades. They knew we were bringing 3 busloads of kids to check in at the same time and they had exactly 2 staff members available to check us in one at a time.
Once we arrived, several of us who had been on windows seats toward the middle of the airplane noticed our arms were sore. It turned out to be chemical burns from something they cleaned the plane with, my case was fairly mild but we had some kids with open weeping sores. Fun vacation!
Despite near constant inquiries about the missing luggage, no one seemed to give a flip and we got the luggage back on the carousel upon arriving home in KC. We had the same loading problem on the return flight, they learned nothing from earlier in the week. Also, Allegiant does not have their own baggage handlers in KC, don't know if that is the same everywhere. A Southwest flight came in at the same time we did and we waited almost two hours to receive all our checked luggage.
Never, ever, ever again would I fly Allegiant. Beware!

Buyer beware. I have friends who have been stranded for four days when their flights were cancelled. And no refunds or tickets on other airlines. If you are serious, I'd google "Allegiant Air issues" and read carefully.

My sister and my dad live in FL, I live in IN. They both fly Allegiant with no problems. That's too funny because we live in Indiana and my uncle just flew in today from Florida. He and my parents were talking about their experiences today. My uncle has never had a problem, my parents didn't have a good experience. The main problem they had was with luggage. They wore the exact outfits to fly down and back, packed nothing new in their suitcase coming home than flying down with the exception that their toiletries were a week lighter, and their luggage was eight pounds heavier on the way back, costing them an extra $100 at the airport.

I have not had a problem. I like them.
My brother flies with them regularly and has not had any more options than with Southwest.

I've flown with them a ton between LAX and Eugene. I've always been happy. Definitely no frills. I just take one carry on and one personal item purse/tote. I've never had them weigh anything. I bring my own snacks and drinks on board with me.
Eta: I never pay for any extras like early boarding or seat selection. I just booked a flight in October between LAX and EUG for $110 round trip.

We used to take Allegiant to Vegas. It was only an hour flight. It was a bit like flying five miles up in the air in a tuna can. Packed, smelly, and you thought the plane would explode, BUT we always got there safely and it was quick. And cheap.

We use the Orlando/Sanford airport for Allegiant often and it is easy-peasy. My step children also use Allegiant from VA to FL and we can fly right into Hagerstown, MD where my sister lives...sometimes as cheap as $40. No crowds or hassle on any parts of these trips but Allegiant only flies on 2 or 3 days of the week here so it may not work for everyone. If you aren't familiar with the Orlando area the Sanford airport is NOT right in the "tourist district" that most people are used to. We've never had a problem with delayed or canceled flights. Dh's last flight landed early. I was pulled over by the local police for a tail light on my way to get him and he called all excited that I could pick him up early..um, No, I can't. Our experience has been good.
