UPDATE...UPDATE....
The card swap sign up be be posted during the sign-up period. DATE TBA!
Update, please vote in the new poll. Per the Peas we have added a new option (the earlier the better. Some key points.... 1) Once the swap closes, it's closed. It is not fair to keep adding and asking. If you miss it this year, plan for next year. (Not being mean, just trying to keep if fair) 2) You don't have to mail to everyone.
3) Don't expect that everyone will send to you. The joy is in giving...spreading holiday cheer & hopefully it being reciprocated.
3) Cards can be homemade or store bought.
4) Please mail all cards before Christmas, make sure to give international cards early.
5) Most important HAVE FUN AND ENJOY.
I will update the sign up date in about a week. Thank you all.....
Update: The wonderful Pea that has organize the holiday card swap for the past several years comma has graciously handed me the reins . I hope to fill some big shoes this holiday season . The sign up for the card swap will go out towards the end of October. You'll have about 10 days to sign up. More details will be posted with the sign up. I look forward to another wonderful year.
Hello...please don't freak out, I know it's only September. But I have to ask are we doing the card swap? I would be more than happy to help organize it. It would be really nice to have the list out at the beginning of November and request everyone mail their cards by the beginning of December. I hated getting cards after Christmas as I was taking down the display. This will also allow people time to work on them and allow them to send some out each week...easing any money issues. Just some thoughts, I by no way am trying to step on anyone's toes....I loved being a part of the swap for the past couple years. It's become a tradtion. Enjoy your day

May I ask how many cards you sent last year? I was wishing I had participated, but I'm not sure I have time.
Thanks!

I don't participate in the swap, but I would think you would want them all signed up by the end of October that then gives you time to get out addresses and people, especially our peas that don't live on the North American continent, to get their cards before Christmas.

I'm very excited to do it again this year. Last year I had requested that cards be sent to my dd and her children because of horrific times for them. Thank you, Thank You, Thank you to all who helped make their holiday season brighter !!!
This year that won't be necessary and I will be sending out cards to all on the list. Hoping to be making them. For those who are on the fence about participating - it will bring so much joy to you and yours. Soooo much fun receiving those cards.

@gar I did it last year and I enjoyed it but it was too expensive for me. I'm really glad I did it...I needed it. But I can't justify the cost, unfortunately. I sure was amazed at some of the beautiful handmade cards I received and they definitely helped improve my first Christmas season on my own.

I think it was 100-120 but many hose to send what they feel comfortable with I don't think anyone faults those that can send to everyone. I just hope that those can send to all send to some and don't take advantage. I believe there was a pea or two that sent to half last year and this year plan to send those she didn't send to last year.

I'm in (again). I actually was just thinking about this. I was going to cut costs and not do it, but I decided that participating will be my gift to myself this year.

Last year I sent a card (or tried to) to everyone that sent me one. I think it was very close to 100 cards. And yes, it did get expensive but honestly it was the highlight of the season. It was such a joy to check the mail every day, bring in the cards and open them slowly one by one oohing and ahhing over each and every one. It was the 3rd year of participation for me but defiantly the most I've received and sent out.
I'm in for this year too. I agree that having everyone signed up by the end of October might be a better timeline, especially for those Peas who live overseas.

When you all saying it got expensive are you talking about international mail? I spent (I'm in NC)...15-20$ International (Canda inculded) & the about 60 for the state cards. My cards were made with the supplies I had. How I didn't get overwhelmed with the postage cards, I mailed the international ones first. Then split the state cards up over the next 3 weeks. I took an hour a night here and there, listened to holiday music and made my cards. This year my international cards are made and I will start my state cards after Halloween. It's fun and my girls lover it.

I'm in again, I sent I think 126 cards last year. I sent to everyone. I put them all through the slats on my louver doors in my pantry. It was beautiful. I think the earlier the sign up is the better as I make all my cards. I don't think it is to early to think about this, I was thinking about it a couple weeks ago, but didn't want to freak out people. ETA: I think there were only about 12 international cards last year, most to Canada, but I think there were a couple to Great Britain and maybe one to Australia. I consider this a Christmas gift to myself! SaveSave

Hi, I sent to everyone on the list...I loved making the cards and it was a blast coming home to a mail box of happiness! I took the sting out of the postage by buying 1-2 books here and there starting in September. I bought the international stamps once we had the final list. You do not have to send to everyone and you do not have to make the cards. It was a great experience! Already thinking about this year!!

I had planned on making my cards last year (ha) but since I was having peas send to my grandchildren, I sent out UNICEF ones. I was quite happy with that. 😊

Last year was rough for us and the swap was like a gift everyday. My girls loved it and everyone that came to our home throughout the holidays lived see the cards. It was truly a gift that kept giving. I think Mrs.Angie organized it last year. If she can't this year I have no problem stepping in.

Hmmm...maybe I will sign up with a PO box. We are moving in the middle of Christmas card season and I wouldn't want them to get lost between the two places

My boys love this tradition- we'll send as many as we can. It's usually over a hundred for us, but not quite all last year.

I want to join this year! Are you sure non handmade cards are okay? I don't want anyone to be disappointed! It really doesn't matter if they're handmade, straight from a box or even an index card that says "Happy Hello!" It's happy mail! Fun to send, fun to receive. My mom asked me last year if she could get on the list without being a RFPea, she so enjoyed seeing our collection.

I still have last year's cards from the peas out in a basket in my dining room. Time to go through them again, I guess, and move on. I swore I wasn't going to do it again this year, because I never managed to get any personal cards out last year, only the ones I sent to the peas. We'll see.

Me too lucyg! It felt a bit strange, but I only made cards for the Peas last year. Friends and family got a few leftover cards.
