Welcome to monthly Sketch/Scraplift challenge! Each month, I will post either a sketch, or a LO for you to lift, or draw inspiration. Wow!!! It is ALREADY September! This year is FLYING by. This month, I am going to give you 2 options, OR, in order to get more scrapping done in this last quarter of the year, you can do both! So, here are the LO SCRAPLIFT challenges for September: I would like for you to try something new, as well. I created 2 hearts on the first LO with my thumbs! Make it something interesting. Maybe, make something whimsical, a LO about something fun/silly. Just...be creative, and have fun! As you know, in scraplifting/using sketches, your LO's can end up looking exactly like the inspiration piece, or you can let your creativity run wild! These are just jumping off points to get you rolling. Have fun, and link your LO's back to this thread so that we can all see your piece of art and give you some lovin'! admin , please add to the master list. Thank you!

Thanks, KikiPea ! Love them both. Lots of layers. Something new, huh? Not sure if I have anything I haven't tried before, but I certainly have media I have not used much: maybe I could find some time to play with some of that. Fall always gets me thinking about layering stamps and leaves and...

I had already started this when I saw the challenge. Not a lift but you inspired me to use different shapes and embellishments than is my norm. Thanks! ONE way I've been trying to challenge myself is to use the back of my 2 sided papers...which is hard when they don't seem to go with my pics and are pink for my 10 grandsons. Here is my pink boy page from yesterday

Here is my first one. What's fun about it to me is that the photos are of my mom and some of her college friends mildly "going wild" on what her scrapbook claimed was "The Famous Sophomore Walkout". There is no further explanation, but it looks like a beach weekend with beer. Sadly, my mom's scrapbooks and albums are falling apart, so I'm copying the photos and scrapping some of them. Eventually, I'll attempt to scan the full pages as she assembled them, with her written comments.I can't ask her about them, unfortunately, because she has been gone for years and I don't remember ever seeing the albums when I was younger. They were probably packed away in a box. At any rate, I know she is totally posing with a cigarette because she hated smoking, and she didn't like beer much either. I didn't really try anything new, but I made embellishments out of photos of old Blitz Weinhard labels and a bottle cap I found on line

Love the colors, the photos, and the story behind them. Love the items you used for embellishments. Just perfect! Thanks for playing!

chendra I LOVE your page! Love the layering, the colours, the cool title. It is awesome that you chose these photos to showcase. Your mom may have been hamming it up for the camera, or maybe at some point she did smoke and drink, before she gew up and became your mom. Doesn't matter. What matters is these photos show her being human and being happy. I hope you find a way to preserve your moms scrapbooks, but I think she would be very happy with this page you created.

@elaynef Why not use pink on boy pages? I think it looks great with your pictures, and after all, up until about the 1930's, pink was a little boy color and blue was for girls. I love the faux hawks on your grandsons too And that's quite a challenge using both sides of a paper, at least it would be for me. So often I like only one side and they're often dramatically different.

chendra I love the colours you've chosen. Thank you. Believe it or not, the papers are from a $5.99 "hot buy" paper pad at Michael's called Seaglass. I guess it was serendipity, because I hardly ever shop at Michael's and I rarely buy paper pads, but I passed a display where someone had left one lying open and the colors and retro styling called to me--all sea-themed blues, greens, greys and creams.

I've unearthed quite a few fun photos, and my mom was great about saving ephemera, so I'm going to try to work some of that in too. I suspect that either my brother or my sister has the photo I'm dying to scrap because I can't find it--my mom as a little girl with dressed-up piglets in her baby carriage. She lived on a ranch and had a pet lamb named Clumpity she walked on a leash too

Love your take on the challenge, mikklynn . So cool to highlight your dd's experience at her brother's games! That frosty blue really showcases the cold arena.

chendra, your page is not gallery linked. So, I'm leaving love here. Your layout is fabulous. I love the colors, and the slight tilt to the photo section, and the embellishments. Top Notch.
