She opted to leave and said it "hasn't felt like home" for quite some time.
I think she was a pretty vocal defendant of Ailes, basically calling her female colleagues liars. I wouldn't imagine it would be a very comfortable place to stay at this point.

I wouldn't imagine it would be a very comfortable place to stay at this point. From what I read, contract negotiations stalled after Ailes left. Fox seems to be going for a culture shift in the wake of the sexual harrassment case and her defense of him would make it difficult to be part of the new Fox.

I read somewhere that Rupert Murdoch wanted a conservative-leaning cable news network, but not the crazy-pants right-wing outlet that Roger Ailes created, and then it became so successful that he couldn't do anything but lean back and let Ailes do his thing. I didn't know about Greta leaving. I used to watch her on CNN a million years ago and she used to be a liberal (she's a former defense attorney). She seemed to become more and more conservative as time went by on Fox. Maybe it was never a good fit? Or maybe that was the real Greta underneath the liberal defense-attorney trappings.

I read somewhere that Ailes asked certain journalists to stick up for him publicly, and I was shocked at how many, who did and what they said. As HR, they ALL should have been told not to speak about the case publicly and honestly it was very unprofessional of all of them to do so on air! Just because some is nice/a great guy to you doesn't mean they aren' sexual harassing someone else! They don't have to sexually harass all female employees to be wrong!
It wouldn't surprise me if more are gone/leave, especially those that publicly supported Ailes. They picked the losing side.
Is Bill O'Reilly gone to? I've only seen Eric Bolling subbing for him lately. I do know he also was on Aile's side but don't remember if he was one that spoke on air about the ongoing investigation.

I had read a couple of months ago after the sexual harassment suit was filed, that certain people at Fox were "for" or "against" Ailes.
It was mentioned that Sean Hannity and Greta were the ones expected to leave if he resigned/was fired.
So I guess Greta supported him.
So far Hannity is still there.
Can't imagine running a network and suddenly having to "fill in" for someone that quits with little notice.
But I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks!

I'm sorry she is leaving. I always enjoyed her show and thought she asked tough questions but always treated her guests fairly.

Read something later where she said because of a very tight window for her to exercise her option to leave when a "key man" left, she had to leave without a real goodbye. I read into that that she was squeezed out, once she made her intentions known, and would have left more gradually. But who really knows. I just know what i read after looking for her facebook page.
I wouldn't say she was squeezed out, but don't doubt there was a "change in control" clause in her contract with a limited amount of time to make a decision to leave under that clause -- it is very common in executive contracts (which all the major on-air personalities probably have). Had she stayed, any other clauses that pertained to her getting out of the current contract would come back into play after that short time period. So she either had to leave quickly or stay until her contract was up (which could be years). I don't honestly think they were trying to get rid of any of those that supported Ailes. But I do know quite a few of the big names had that "change in control" clause.

Greta's been given the boot? I remember when she went to Fox. She did bring something different to the network for sure. She is/was personally more liberal and did say so on extremely rare occasion, but honestly, I've not found her to be overtly biased on air... ever. She may be older, but she's still got the goods. I wonder who will try to snatch her up? I saw Gretchen Carlson every now and again and always thought she seemed very professional with a nice personality. As soon as I heard she had brought suit, I thought there must be something to it or she wouldn't have done it. ---- My opinion based solely on my limited impressions of what I had seen of her. Part of me is shocked and part of me isn't as surprised as it should be. I can't be the only one who's noticed the whole crew of beautiful, blonde women through the years. Janice Dean, weather, commented once about having to change her hair to get the job. I don't know if she was joking or not, but that wouldn't even be a question on other networks. Ah, I'm blathering on here. I'm not happy. If I watch news, Greta is one I often try to catch.

Her husband has been seriously ill with cancer...at least he was last year...so that could make a difference. She has always been quite liberal. My understanding was that Bill, Sean and Greta had the same clause. Bill has mentioned retirement for several years so who knows...his books and the tv productions are so successful that I wont be surprised to see him go.

I just Googled, and it looks like he was interviewing Trump Sep 6 asking him if his Birtherism has hurt him with African Americans. First link I found

Darn, she was one of the very few on Fox that I would actually listen to. She seemed quite reasonable. I wonder where she will land.

This article came up on my Yahoo feed. Not sure if it's accurate, but if so, she was definitely forced out sooner than she expected. "Greta Van Susteren’s exit from Fox News came as a bit of a shock, but it seems the most surprised person in the whole situation could be Susteren herself. The long-time Fox News host reportedly expected to leave the network after a few weeks according to CNN Money, but her husband is claiming that the end came a bit more sudden than previously alluded to: A courier arrived at Van Susteren’s Washington, D.C. home at 9 a.m. Tuesday, hand-delivering two letters that said that Van Susteren “was being taken off the air” immediately, according to her husband, John Coale, who is a high-profile Washington lawyer. Van Susteren was already planning to leave, but she thought she would be hosting her 7 p.m. program “On the Record” for a few more weeks. Yanking her off the air without a chance to say goodbye was “a bit immature,” Coale remarked.." GretaSad. I liked her. Anita

Greta was one of the few I still watched. I do follow her on social media as well. She mentioned that Fox owned GretaWire.com but not her blog so I think she's keeping that. It was her contract that was up. I forgot about her husband being sick. I know she's also a big Green Bay Packer fan (the other reason I follow her ) OReilly is still there and has another season starting in Sept. of Legends and Lies which I like as well.
