So, I asked my aunt if she would make me a dust cover for my Cameo 3. Now, mind you she is in Canada and I am in the US so we kind of had to wing it with measurements etc. I found the measurements online from an answered question on Amazon (couldn't for the life of me find any measurements on the Cameo box itself or on their website) and also manually measured my machine. I sent her the measurements and pics of the machine so that she had an idea. I also linked her to the machine on the Silhouette website. I also made sure that if she did any googling that she knew it was the 3 and not earlier versions since they are obviously different shapes/measurements etc. Well...it didn't quite turn out, lol. We've both had some good laughs over it but she wants to try again. I know they sell them now but I really would like a special homemade one from my aunt. Does anyone know if there is a pattern out there or there's a resource I could use for a pattern? I have looked with no luck. Just for fun here are the pics, lol. (and yes, that's a swimming pool in my scraproom. Don't ask! HA!)

Awww... Too bad it didn't work out quite right. I don't have a Silhouette and have no idea where you might get a pattern for something like this. If she kept her original sketched pattern, she may be able to adjust it now that she can see how this looks on the machine, or at least know what additional measurements she needs
Can you make a pattern by putting a piece of thinner sb paper at the end of the Silhouette and then pushing the sides and top to get a crease over and then sketching the shape?
At the very least, you will have a great sb page! Maybe get her to send you a pic of her--or better yet of her at the sewing machine!

I love the fabric! And she did a really nice job. But it kinda reminds me of me trying to put my jeans on. Certain parts fit, others not so much!
Truly sweet of her that she wants to try again. And I applaud you for wanting one made by her.

I love the idea of getting a pic of her at her sewing machine! I just texted her and asked for my uncle to take one, thanks! I may have to see if I can somehow get a sketch. I love the fabric! That is cute fabric! I'd send your aunt pictures of each side again, this time holding a ruler or tape measure against each edge, so she can see the exact lengths. Measure in cm- it's more accurate than inches. Send her pictures of every edge/corner/etc, both straight and angled.

It's a cute little hat for your Silhouette, though!

Love the fabric! It looks like it would fit the original cameo. I'd follow Peamac 's advice on pics and measuring. Hope it works for you this time.

The dust covers from Silhouette are not very expensive. Could you buy one and take it apart and use that as a pattern?? They are on sale at Joann for $5.24 and on Amazon for $4.99. I love the idea of a beautiful handmade cover!

I've always made dust covers for my machines. I do a general trace of the shapes (sides and top) and add up to an 1" around it for the seams and so it won't be so snug or short.

Hmmm...looks like maybe she read CM's instead of inches to me. It's really cute...can't wait to see her second try.

I'm Canadian and still use yards, feet, inches... If you sent your aunt the measurements in imperial rather than metric, I'm sure she wouldn't have had any trouble at all. But it looks to me like the pattern is for the original Cameo and not the new one. I made a dust cover for mine, the original Cameo-first release-and it looks the same as the one your aunt made for you!

Just wanted to pop back on this thread. I ordered this Cameo 3 dust cover from Etsy and shipped it to her to take apart so she can use the material she picked for me! I'll let you guys know how it turned out when she's done and I get it back! With shipping it cost me $16 so not bad for something special from my aunt!

Version 2! Bless her heart. I just love it! She took apart the Silhouette one that I bought and made it like that. On the back is her signature patch that says 'Denise's Pieces' and she sewed the Silhouette tag on the front. It is a little snug but I think it'll eventually stretch enough to fit comfortably. At least it covers the machine and will help protect it from dust and it means so much that my aunt made it for me. She also made the pillow that's back on the couch and the colors are so fun!

Thanks for the update! It is so cool to have crafty friends and family who are willing to share their creations!
I love playing with paper, but anything cloth scares me! This Christmas, my ddil used her Silhouette to create teeshirts for dh and me and also a cushion top with all the family names on it. This type of gift is really special!

Does your aunt take orders? Those covers are excellent. I am not often envious but I'm feeling a little green. I've got the other Silhouette and a Cinch that would look great with hats

Super cute, but you must explain the swimming pool in the scrap room!!! LOL, well...the room I scrap in opens up into our backyard. We would use the pool for a few days but then I would spray it out and dry it and bring it inside if the weather was too cool or stormy to swim in it for a few days. We have a lot of trees so even with the cover on it there would be some leaves and bugs and the water would get stagnant so it was easier to just bring it in and then take it out when we wanted to use it again.

She could go into business selling them! She doesn't take orders and she also makes SUPER SUPER cute bags, pouches, purses, totes, quilts, pillow covers etc. She is VERY talented and we've all tried to get her to open up her own Etsy shop or something but she said she just enjoys doing it for people at her leisure.
