I have a burning question that came up when I was cleaning out scrap supplies stashes and came upon a box of old SC (mostly) wood veneers - numbers, letters, animals, hearts, flags etc... and wondered - what to do with these. Obviously I haven't been motivated to include these in my scrapping to date. Do you emboss them? Paint them? Leave them alone?

I have only used them in their 'naked' state or I have actually stamped my ink pad on them to give them a stain look. Paint is too much muss and fuss for me, lol.

I usually use them naked as well. Although, I have embossed them in batches to have them ready for something, but it can be a pain. I also like to mix them in a pocket with sequins.

I too use them naked, usually sprinkled around the page. I love the way those smaller sizes look like wooden confetti. A lot of the newer wood veneers are way too big for my taste.

I usually colour them black with a Sharpie if I'm not using them as they come. I have painted, used Nuvo Crystal Drops, painted or coloured with a Sharpie and put Glossy Accents on top for shine. I think I've inked and embossed as well. I have tried misting them but it never gives the colour depth that I want, it's always a bit insipid. But the good old Sharpie is usually my go to for colouring cause it's so easy!

I use them naked or I ink them with a stamp. Then I use Glossy Accents and let them dry overnight. They turn out so pretty!

I usually use them naked too but I think I might try a black Sharpie. Thanks, kiwigirl!

I often color them to match my layout with the little Prima inks. The coverage from those is really great. Sometimes I add a Stickles dot. Mine are usually layered with die cut shapes, washi, flowers, buttons and/or stickers to add some different texture to an embellishment cluster.

I mostly use them naked as well, although I have painted a few in the past.

I usually use them "naked", but I have also used TH distress STAINS on them and those work beautifully. Have also spritzed them with metallic sprays. Sometimes finish them off with Glossy Accents.
I love wood veneer--or the thicker wood shapes--because of the texture they give a page. Mostly use letters, hearts and arrows, but have collections of a lot of shapes. Another favorite is cameras. And right now I am doing fall pages, so the leaf shapes are coming out of their corner of the bookshelf.

I ink them, mist them, paint them, emboss them and my favorite I love to stamp a pattern on them (the larger ones).

I've always used them naked. Wink of Stella? Copics? Sharpie? Glossy Accents? Oh, wow! Never thought of any of these and can't wait to try them out!!

I use them naked most of the time. But recently I've used ink to color them slightly. I really like the colored look

I will try inking them the next time I use them (when I get them back from BFF who has them in Alaska). Kind of excited about inking them!

I have used them in their native state, used Distress Ink on them to give them a slightly colored look, used other inks, painted them, and gold embossed them to make embellishments. I hadn't thought to use Stickles or Glossy Accents. I will have to give that a try.

Or will any ink work? I have used all kinds of ink just give it ample time to dry or take a heat gun if you want it dried faster.
