Silly me for thinking this out loud but don't you get menstrual blood on your hand and fingers if you insert manually? Even the Peas beloved OB tampons still get you messy. These reusable ones would get all over you and then you would have to put the thing somewhere until you could put it in the washing machine.
Ok I am grossed out enough. We don't have a septic tank so we flush. If we did have septic we would have to dispose them in our city garbage.

Is it wrong that I've conjured up a not very flattering mental image of the women who would use these? Complete with long stringy hair, dirty toenails and hairy pits. I know I'm stereotyping but for the life of me I can't shift that image.
And until someone posted the blown up picture I also wondered how you inserted them. Now I see they're hollow inside. I guess they work like a finger puppet....

Oh my goodness....I read this yesterday AND the thread about dreaming you are naked. Last night I dreamt that I decided to make my own tampons from scraps of fabric (I'm a quilter) but then couldn't bring myself to wash them and ended up trying to flush them and they clogged our toilet. Trying to avoid explaining to my husband what i'd done was a large part of the dream! In the dream it was all very serious but as soon as I woke up this morning I started to laugh!

I use cloth pads, because I'm allergic to the disposable kind (and let me tell ya, an angry rash in the Girly bits makes washing cloth pads seem like no big deal!). But I just don't get how this works- yarn? How is that absorbent? How does it go in and not get all squishy, even OB tampons are packed so they are firm and go in?
I am confused, but not necessarily averse to the idea...however I am fine with tampons allergy wise so I will be skipping these as I use reusable cloth as a necessity. I also trim my hair and toenails, but I have like 6 arm pit hairs so I admit I almost never shave them, I get razor burn and it's not worth it. So maybe I am a dirty hippie, but I still wouldn't use those!

You know when I was a poor young adult shopping for my own apartment I always thought that companies could charge whatever they wanted for tampons and toilet paper because it was a necessity and even if I had to cut back on everything else I had no choice but to get those 2 items. Well apparently crafters called their bluff, with the "invention" of family cloths, cloth pads and knitted tampons, people apparently do have a limit on how much they'll spend on those so-called necessities. Not I, I'll still spend whatever I have to get to flushable TP and disposable girly products, TYVM.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. There are some things so wrong.

I'm not sure that inserting yarn into the vaginal canal is a good idea (most yarn is really fibrous, right?), but I get the theory behind these. It's no less hygienic than cloth diapering, which I do.

I'm not the OP but evidently we are in same group on fb because I seen this today in group and commented on that thread. The lady who makes these in the group said to sanitize them you put them in vinegar to soak. To insert them she said some of her customers use lube on the end to insert it. If your out though for the day and need to change it I'm grossed out where you would put it to wait to get home to soak in vinegar lol Lube on the end, but you'd have to use a chopstick to push it up there.

Lol I know!!! People in the group are still commenting on the post for this product...most are shocked. Some were getting pissy that people are grossed out by it LOL! Someone mentioned the dye in the yarn being harmful. That was never addressed to my knowledge. TSS got brought up and the ladies for the use of this said TSS Is less likely than when using regular tampon. I swear the whole thread was like a good Thursday night thread at the Pod lol

Actually my husband is away at a conference and I really couldn't bring myself to explain to my two teenagers why I kept laughing to myself.

Don't cats like yarn? Like they try and catch it when it's in front of them. I hope the string is tucked away well because if some is hanging down...umm that may cause some issues

Into my cave no This is not for female use Who invented this?
This might not be a haiku but a renga which is 5-7-5 syllables instead. Still Japanese poetry.

speechless ! ** For leakage proof; feel free to shove cotton balls in tampon for better support on those heavy days ** O.M.G. ! lol! or just save the money or time to crochet them and just shove the ball of yarn up yonder! plus, then you could knit a scarf right from your vagina when you're done with your period (remember that thread?!).
