The pristine spotlessness of a brand new refrigerator. Our 11 year old fridge died two days ago, so I loaded up my younger son and headed to a Best Buy. Ours has a Pacific Appliance store within it. Anyhow, picked out a new LG with French doors, ice and water in the door, bottom freezer rolls out. The saddest part is that the salesman recognized me - since we bought all of our appliances when we moved in 11 years ago, they all have been dying over the past 18 months, and we have given Best Buy a LOT of business. It really is pathetic when they know you by name at the appliance store. They delivered the fridge at noon. Late this afternoon, son and I went to the grocery store to get milk and replace all the must-have condiments we had to toss. It was hard to put groceries on those sparkling shelves, knowing it will never be so purty or spotless again. What is your favorite new appliance?

Our fridge died in March so that is our newest appliance.
But we just bought a new couch and chair last month! Love it all!

Our newest is our superquiet kitchenaid dishwasher. My favorite is the slightly older french door fridge.

New couch is good too! Something you use daily.

I also have an LG French door frige. I didn't know if I would like the French door fridge or not since I HATE chest freezers. Mine has 2 drawers in the freezer so the main part is not that deep. I really like my fridge! However, I am also very glad that I bought the extended warranty on it. Mine came from Home Depot and I was able to buy another 4 years for $99. I have used it twice already, both times at about 1.5 or 2 years. The repairs were about a month apart too.

Congrats on your new refrigerator. Did you by chance buy the extended warranty? They are pretty reasonable through Best Buy. The reason I ask is we had a refrigerator fail within 2 years. Now we buy the warranty.

The pristine spotlessness of a brand new refrigerator. You might get to replicate that sooner than you think. I've been researching; more than once I read that this generation of refrigerators is designed to last only seven or eight years. Those are exactly the features I want. I'm also smitten by the models that have the extra outside access "snack drawer," but those are pricey. Enjoy!

Seven or eight years, ugh. I want a new French door one, but maybe I'll rethink it. My Kitchen Aid workhorse is almost 20. I know, half as efficient as a new one, but....

We bought our LG French Door Refrigerator several years ago, but opted to not buy the water in the door model. It is serving us well as are our almost brand new (March) GE Profile series dishwasher, microwave/convection oven and 5 burner gas stove. We went 10 years using the cheap contractor appliances in our home and it was time to replace.

I wish I could say I have a favorite new appliance but I just hate spending money on necessary items like washing machines or refrigerators, etc. (Purchased a new machine this spring.) I'd rather see my money go into savings or on something fun, like a weekend trip to the coast etc. But hope you get many years of enjoyment from your new fridge.

My hubby retired last May. Since then we got new wood floors, all new kitchen appliances and new washer/dryer. Other than the floors, the fridge makes me smile every time I open it. So many storage possibilities.

We had to get a new one this year, also, and I am loving the "newness" of it!!! I totally understand where you are coming from

Oh yes. I loved it when we got a new one a few years back. It was so bright and shiny inside!
Now it's just the place where condiments go to die.

My 25 year old Gibson frig is just barely hanging on. So I will be replacing this old work horse in the near future. I am so unsure about what brand to go with. Seems like each one has it's problems. I don't need any thing fancy. I checked Sears last week but did not find anything that appealed to me.

I'm crossing my fingers that we won't need to. You might get to replicate that sooner than you think. I've been researching; more than once I read that this generation of refrigerators is designed to last only seven or eight years. . Enjoy! Hopefully they will stand by their 10 year compressor warranty, although the rest of it is just 7 years, so you may be right. I have 2 teenage boys who are hard on a fridge, so it will probably be beaten up by the seven year mark. We had drawers with parts held together with duct tape in our last one. My hubby retired last May. Since then we got new wood floors, all new kitchen appliances and new washer/dryer. Other than the floors, the fridge makes me smile every time I open it. So many storage possibilities.
Congrats on dh's retirement and new appliances! Bonus! We had to get a new one this year, also, and I am loving the "newness" of it!!! I totally understand where you are coming from It is silly of me, but it really is making me smile! And there is one drawer that is just the size for soda cans. Oh yes. I loved it when we got a new one a few years back. It was so bright and shiny inside! Now it's just the place where condiments go to die. This will be ours within two years too, so I am trying to enjoy every expensive moment before it gets sullied.

I'm so jealous. I hate hate hate my fridge and that stupid thing will NOT die. 3 years ago the repairman told us that we only had one year left, but nooooooo. During the spring when we had our washing machine leak it spewed water into the kitchen and destroyed the floor. It even got underneath the fridge, but Nooooooo, the stupid fridge had to be just high enough off of the ground to survive. I think I have issues around this. Excuse me while I leave this thread and pull myself together. You. Are. So. Lucky.

It was white but its 15 years old and even magic eraser can't make it new and shiny again. I keep waiting for it to die. But it's still chugging along. OP, I know exactly how you feel. When I got new carpet 2 years ago, I didn't want to move the furniture back in the rooms. It looked so nice with no stains or dog hair. I just wanted to enjoy it for a while.

All my kitchen appliances are around 30 years old...retro...but not in a cool way. Lol My fridge has a sound like a bearing or some thing is going since the day I bought my house in the mid nineties. I thought for sure it would fail soon after moving in and the thing still is kicking. I used to want all new matching appliances, but I kind of want to see how long these things will run. :-)

Excuse me while I leave this thread and pull myself together. You. Are. So. Lucky. I am sorry! Our dishwasher did the same thing about 5 years ago, and our fridge lived through that too. We even got our whole basement redone due to that fiasco, but the fridge soldiered on. I don't want to wish the expense on you but I'll send "it's okay, just let go" vibes in your fridge's direction. I am in the exact same boat. I hate my fridge. It was white but its 15 years old and even magic eraser can't make it new and shiny again. I keep waiting for it to die. But it's still chugging along. That lasted until first round of who know what the dog ate and then threw up all over the basement?

I'll pass that along to my fridge. I'll hold it's handle and give it permission to go to the angels. GO ALREADY! I'm sorry you went through a basement flood. EEK. Oh well, it looks great now, but the during really sucks rocks doesn't it?
