I can't get the tins open!!!!! I've had them for years but seldom used them so I thought I'd dust them off. I can't open those large thin tins. Help please, I've tried prying it open with a screwdriver with no success.

A screwdriver didn't work!! Oh my. Do you have one of those tools that opens paint cans? I'd try that.

crazy thought but maybe put the tins in the freezer for a bit and it might constrict (hopefully!) enough to let you open them.

Maybe using a little WD-40 might loosen them up.

I purged mine because the tins were a pain. The slick surface of the tins was my problem. I couldn't ever get enough of a grip to pull them apart. I finally got two of those little rubber grip pads you use for stubborn jars and stored them with the tins, and eventually evolved into using a ribbon to keep them from totally sealing. If you ever finally get them open, leave a thin (like organza) ribbon between the top and bottom when you shut them, and then to open you pull on one side until it pops the top. I also found I had the best luck prying them apart at the corners and not the sides with the rubber grips. Good Luck!!

There is just so little to the bottom pan to grab onto and I have arthritis in my left hand making it extra difficult. I'm definitely putting a ribbon inside if I ever get this thing open!

moraie I'm going to use your ribbon tip! pas2 , when you take it out of freezer put a warm cloth on top, while bottom is still icy. Otherwise both pieces are contracting together and tightening. Or do I have it backwards- it's early Please let us know what works. My little tins are sitting waiting to be used again!

Things shrink when cold. Think of your rings bring looser in the winter time versus the summer time.
