My DD's school had HOCO this past week. Game Thursday (with a WIN!) and dance Saturday night. This is my DD and her date prior to the dance Saturday. Thanks to the Peas who weighed in on shoes. She ended up going for black rather than silver (and almost didn't get to wear them as she's been in a boot for 2 weeks!).

Beautiful!!
No HoCo pictures for me. DD didn't have a date and refused a mum. She teased me by saying that she and her friend thought it would be fun to make mums but then cruelly dashed my hopes. Sob sob...

They look great! Our homecoming is not until the 29th which is the worst possible time. DS and I are doing the Special Olympics Torch Run that morning and then I have 2 Halloween parties that night. Plus, I might be closing on my house that week, so needless to say, it's going to be a crazy time for us. DS is still on the fence about going anyway, but I wish he would make up his mind soon!

Sob sob... Thanks! She cleans up well! She didn't have an official date last year and made her own mum. It was quite the ordeal. Making the garter this year was easier!

Oh wow that is a lot going on that weekend! We lucked out. She normally has soccer every weekend. We have ONE "bye" weekend this fall and it happened to fall on her HOCO. Good luck!

Your daughter is beautiful and her date is so handsome. You have a beautiful background for the pictures!
It rained for our Homecoming, so no good outdoor pictures. And I cannot load them because when I have tried to post pictures here before, it said they were too big. I don't know how to make them smaller! But I love the pictures!

Your daughter is beautiful! Love the shoes. My ds had homecoming this week and he had a lot of fun. Almost didn't go because he has been on crutches since mid-August due to surgery. But he is finaly able to move around without them. I'm so glad he went and had fun with his date and their friends. I'm not sure how to add a pic? Can I add one using my phone?

Oh she's beautiful!!!
We don't have the mum tradition here, would anyone like to give me the cliff-notes on it?
Our dance is this Saturday and my DD finally got asked by the boy she was hoping would. We found her dress last weekend and she loves it, it looks wonderful on her, AND thanks to a Dillard's gift card I forgot I had, we got the dress/shoes for our $50 budget, plus the shoes are perfect for her musical role. SCORE!!!

I'm guessing HOCO is homecoming. First time I've ever heard it called that.

Stunning! Hope she had a fantastic time. Great shoes for the dress, hope she made it through the night without pain, so happy to hear she got out of the boot in time.

I'm guessing HOCO is homecoming. First time I've ever heard it called that. I'm seeing it posted among the band members in the band group on FB. I hate it! It screams laziness. I really wanted to snark on a Mom who used it. No homecoming pictures here. It was this past weekend but neither one of my boys (freshman and sophomore) wanted to go. Maybe one year...

DD is in middle school so no huge, high school level Homecoming stuff. But she marched in the parade and the half time show with her middle school band.

Ok I had no idea what HOCO was (the things you learn here) but yes we just had homecoming last week I'm jealous of schools who have artificial turf. Our school tried to pass a millage to get artificial turf and fix the auditorium. It got voted down. Made me so mad.

Thanks to those who shared pics! Love seeing it all - mums, dates, games!
Thanks for the kind words on my daughter and her date. He'sa sweet kid & they've known each other since kindergarten!
I grew up in Ohio so the mums are new to me. But she has gone to school here in TX since kindergarten & it's a tradition.
Everything I see about Homecoming calls it HOCO (even items from school). Sorry for those that I offended with my laziness. It's pretty commonly used here.

Thanks!

We don't do the mums here. DS asked his date 4 days before HOCO. It was not the best date ever but I still think the photo is cute! It was pouring so the photos were inside.

Here in TX they are a thing. It's not a real mum flower, but a fake one and it's decorated. Freshman & Sophomores are the school colors, Juniors are silver and white and Seniors are gold and white. They are decorated usually with the names of the boy & girl, and then sports/activities/etc that they are involved in (hers has football things - he plays; and soccer things - she plays).
