DS has an early band practice tonight, so it's probably going to be sandwiches. Probably breaded chicken patties on buns for him, and a white bean-spinach-artichoke patty on a bun for me (I tried one of the recipes that got posted a couple of weeks ago when a pea was trying to re-create something made by her grocery deli). I have some really great apples in the fridge, so I'll cut some of those up to go along.

PepsiGal sorry about your baby. Thinking of all you tonight. I'm just home from work and I think I had my dinner at work! We had a going away party for a teacher. There was a ton of sweets and other great food, but I was able to stick to my WW plan with plenty of fruit and veggies. I also had some fantastic whole wheat tortilla chips with some Trader Joe's Fall Salsa...wow! Look for this stuff if you are at Trader Joes in the near future. It had apples, butternut squash and still had a good salsa punch too. DH is on his own for dinner, but I know we have a lot of leftovers. I hope to make dinner tomorrow night.

Don't have time to read the thread right now but I wanted to post because I've been missing some days lately. I bought a refrigerated "ravioli lasagna" (not sure exactly how that works) at Costco (and also a chicken, of course) and I'll make it tonight if DS is available to take the 7yo to tae kwon do, so I can be home while it bakes for an hour-plus. Plus salad and sourdough bread. Will check back in later on and catch up on everyone else's dinner, troubles, etc.! Oooo, I want to know how this is. Every time they have it on sale, I consider it, but I never buy it.
ETA - the ravioli lasagna, that is. I know what a Costco chicken tastes like!

I am only popping in to get ideas. I am almost ready to go on strike. I make something and it won't get eaten. I plan on takeout and get the look. You know the one. We are spending money to eat out again? Well then, eat the yummy stuff I make. It is not really all that cool here but I have been freezing. The creamy Tuscan chicken sounds so good to me but I know who will eat and who will not. 2 out of 3 drops it down on the list. PepsiGal, hope your baby gets to feeling better. scrapmaven, hope you get more rest and get to stay home. ay yi yi, all you painters. I love the outcome but hate the getting ready to paint stuff.

But lately, DS is working or just getting in from his job at Wingstop and he is not hungry. DH will just not be that hungry or not feel so good. What I make will get eaten. Eventually. It just seems like it is a hassle to cook something that everyone wants to eat. I am wanting to get a bit more adventurous. Meatless Mondays, fish or shrimp tacos(to use those cute little street taco tortillas I picked up), more veggies, less meat. Just not gonna fly in my house of red meat eaters. I will just make Orange Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and such and while faces are pulled, it gets eaten and usually I am told just how good it really was. Hmmmmm, try new things more often.... Ok, rant over.

After 2+ hrs in the dentist's chair today, I'm not putting a whole lot of effort into dinner, so it's going to be leftover honey bourbon chicken and mashed potatoes from the freezer, and a veggie of some kind. Fruit for dessert.

We're having leftover beef, barley, roasted onion and mushroom soup and I made a autumn salad of mixed spinach and kale, roasted butternut squash and Brussels sprouts, chopped apple, dried cranberries and pepitas.

Ok, rant over. Planning, shopping for, and preparing meals is a lot of work and when you feel that your time and effort are not appreciated, it just plain stinks. I have successfully passed off meatless meals to my "dinner must include meat!" people, so don't give up hope. marianne, that's a long, long time to be stuck in a dentist's chair. My mouth hurts just thinking about it.

marianne, that's a long, long time to be stuck in a dentist's chair. My mouth hurts just thinking about it. Yeah, this was the worst part. Finally getting prepped for the new bridge after letting everything heal from July. Today was grinding down anchor teeth, several impressions, an x-ray, temporary crowns, yada yada - all of which required an open mouth... a "relaxed" open mouth. Yeah, right! Whew, just glad it's over. Next appointment (11/1) should be a piece of cake... the new bridge.

I went with easy since my stomach has felt upset most of the afternoon. Baked apple cinnamon oatmeal. So, this storm that is due to start late tonight/early thurs sounds like a dozey! We're supposed to get 5-10 inches of rain through the weekend. That has only been our October rain percentage - not one storm, one weekend. Plus strong wind gusts. The last time we had that much rain (for the entire month of October) was in 1962. Not looking forward to it

That's a ton of rain in a very short period of time. And gusty winds too? Yikes! Stay safe!

We had stuffed peppers (I softened the peppers up a bit in my Instant Pot before I stuffed them, I like them pretty soft) and avocado. The avocado came from a friend's tree. We gave them a bunch of mangoes from our tree now they're giving us avocados from their tree. Easy night.

It was delish! Very saucy and cheesy and meaty. I would definitely buy again. Warning, it overflowed during the last 10 minutes of baking, so maybe it should go on a cookie sheet lined with foil.

We are a tribe, scrapmaven . Food always brings people together for sharing and fellowship and tribeswomanship. I think many of us have some physical issues and we have you as inspiration to forge ahead, not as anything else. Well, your dinner ideas are always awesome. But it's your attitude and the way you word things that are inspiration to us. That said, we have a busy day of errands around here and I am going to throw something together - Trixie Bender gave me an idea with egg salad so that is where I will start. I'd like to have time to make some cookies with coconut in them, but we'll see. Thanks for the thread. Thank you, desertgirl. I try and make the best of a sucky situation and that's not easy, but it is necessary. I hope other people w/illness will take time to enjoy what they can and to be grateful for those moments. It's ok to scream at the universe, too.
