a bunch of us were out - listening to music at a bar
of course we knew most of the songs the band played and those on the jukebox
someone mentioned that Jordan knew every song played that night
and they wondered how he got had such eclectic taste in music ( i doubt that was the actual word used)
he replied "because i grew up in Gina's car"
he then described all of us listening to all kinds of music and singly along, loudly
it was really nice to know that he enjoyed that part of his childhood
and i an mentally high-fived myself!

I am smiling from ear to ear and sending you a high five!!
We have always listened to tons of different kinds of music and we play this game "I will give you a dollar if you can tell me who sings this song!" It is amazing what they know!

My DH is always telling me he'll give me a dollar if I can name that band. I suck at that though. I can remember the lyrics, but never who sings the song.
My DD is surprisingly good at oldies music (60's thru 80's)...its some of her favorite, right behind EDM (which makes my ears bleed).

I'm really good at 'who sang what'? and i know lyrics too
if i can just remember what we had for breakfast - i'd be golden
i sure wish "name that tune" was still on!
are any of you lyrics quoters too?
we drove by muscle shoals - and i said 'ya know, muscle shoals has got the swampers, and they've been known to pick a song or two'
i got the dumb look from the entire car - then it's no fun to explain it!

Our youngest DD was at a friend's house, friend's dad was playing some obscure Beatles songs on his guitar. DD was singing along with him. He asked her how she knew those songs, her reply was "My parents raised me right!"

WTG. I always think that I want my kids to look back on their childhood and smile. It's either that or they look back and put it in the tell-all.

He asked her how she knew those songs, her reply was "My parents raised me right!" My 21 yo son loves the Beatles almost as much as I do. He plays guitar and sings, does great with the old country he was raised on, but we occasionally break out some Beatles tunes to sing, usually the more obscure ones! Like the OP, it pleases me that he has a wide range of musical likes which transfer over to his singing and picking talents. His Dad is a strictly country/60's rock person, but Ds heard a lot more growing up because of my taste in music.
