What is this? Do I need this? What kind of shopper benefits most from this? I'm asking the experts - the Pea's because they know all!

I would also like to know how the Cartwheel works? Seems like a lot of work for little savings.....

Every shopper in Target needs it. It offers sales/reduced pricing on items you might be buying, but you will never know without the app.
For ex, dd needed sheets. We moved her into her apartment with one set of twin and one set of queen, not really knowing what size bed she would have. I checked the app and lo and behold, sheets were on sale on the app. I was going to buy them away but if I had not had the app, I would have spent about $15 more.
For the most part, I only check to see if what I am buying is on sale. Every once in a while, I will look just to see what else might be on sale, but I probably only do that once a month or so. If I am buying something like protein/granola style bars, I'll look at the app to see what brand might have a better price. I'll also check to see what fresh fruits and veggies are on it.
I've only had a compatible phone with the app for a few months now and have saved over $50.

If you shop at Target, it will save you money. It is an app on your phone, that will give you discounts on things you buy. You can add the discounts before you go shopping or scan things as you go or both. I have personally saved over $250 this year using it. Even better is to conbine it with a Target Debit Red card for an additional 5% off everything you putchase.

Also, you can scan an item to see if it is currently discounted on Cartwheel.

I love Cartwheel! I have saved $711 so far with it.
We moved to Texas in the summer of 2015 and I needed some chairs for the sitting room off my bedroom. Just so happens Target had furniture on cartwheel for 40% off one day only. I got 2 chairs for a steal.
On Tuesday I took my teen daughter shopping and she found a sweater and some jeans she loved so I scanned them with my phone and both were on cartwheel. I believe they were both 25%off.
I scan everything I put in my cart, it only takes a second and it's totally worth it. Then when I check out the cashier scans my phone and the discount comes off. I also, use my Target Red card debit card and get an extra 5 % off. You can also combine cartwheel with coupons.

I have had the app for a while, but only started using it once you could scan the item and see if there's a discount. I saved $10 the other night using the app on things I was there to purchase, and then saved another $4 using the Target red card. If you routinely shop at Target I don't know why you wouldn't use it.

I don't think you could scan items to see if there was a discount when I tried it. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I scan things with the app as I shop. It sometimes recommends another brand that does have a discount (and sometimes it completely misses the mark with its recommendations).
One tip - I lose cell reception at the back of both stores locally. The store has guest wifi you can use if that happens.

From what I can tell, the shopper that benefits the most from it is the one that has a SuperTarget (groceries) and do most of their shopping there. I rarely use it because I think I go into Target 3 times a year.
It's basically digital coupons.

I mainly use it to check for bigger ticket item discounts -- clothes, furniture, home items -- that's where it pays off and is worth the time.

You can also sort by percentage and see what has the biggest discount.. I have gotten a few things for 50% off (and on sale)...which was Halloween candy!! Ended up 1.66 bag for chocolate bars
I try to scan the app before shopping and then I will also scan items...I have saved $111 (which I think is low..ummm) and now there is a point system for freebies.

I got my kids' Halloween outfits for 40% off with cartwheel. That was a HUGE savings.
At Christmas last year I got popular gifts like the new Skykanders game, Lego Dimensions, etc. for 50% off with cartwheel without having to fight crowds on Black Friday.
It's also one of the few ways you can save on Lego frequently.
Toys and kids clothes are frequently high discounted items.
I LOVE Cartwheel. So far this year I've saved over $400 with it.
I do grocery shop at Target so I have coupons for practically everything I buy. I like that there are coupons for things I actually buy like produce, bread, dairy. I also like that I can stack paper coupons with cartwheel. You can also stack target's text coupons (Target has frequent high dollar value text coupons like $10 off $50 groceries or last week it was $25 off $100 Star Wars merchandise, so I was able to stack that with our 40% off Halloween costumes cartwheel coupons and we were able to get so much stuff).
I do a quick search of cartwheel if I'm going shopping and I scan expensive items with it in the store. I think it's super fast and super easy.

I like to check for items by discount too sometimes instead of just checking what I plan to buy. Because it may turn out that something I could use in the future has a steep discount, so why not buy it then, kwim?
I love to layer savings whenever possible---any combo of sales, clearance items, Target coupons, manufacturer coupons, red card discount, & cartwheel.
During the holidays I always check the toys category for Lego discounts because it's tough to save anything extra on Lego, so I like that Cartwheel sometimes gives me another way to get a set discounted.

I love Cartwheel, I've saved over $500 the last 2 years using it. I pair it with coupons, red card & Ibotta as well.
Just last month my son needed one of those expensive calculators for high school. I was originally going to price match to Walmart or Amazon (I do this often too) but it ended up being on sale and on Cartwheel 20% off, so ended up paying more than $25 less than I expected.
I usually scan my whole cart, but will also see what the big discounts are and use it to stock up on stuff (Izze's in particular, my son loves those things!)

Don't forget to add the discount to your coupon list, I've bought stuff and scanned the app, forgetting to actually add the coupons but it's not worth complaining over 5% off dishwashing liquid or whatever. I scored big on costumes and last year on toys when they had an extra percentage off even clearance toys and it included Lego!

I've saved $92.99 so far. This year and last, I got 40% off Halloween candy --one day only. They send out occasional special deal notifications about 1-2 times a week.

Can anyone shed any light on what some of the badge descriptions mean? Or where else I can look for that info?
Some are easy for me to understand: "High Roller: You can bet you've hit the Cartwheel jackpot when you save $500 at Target. unlocks 1 offer spot" I reach 250 bucks in savings and I get 1 more spot for earning this badge. Got it.
But this one I don't get: "The Boss: Climb your way to the top of your leaderboard and unlock 1 offer spot with this badge!" I don't even know what leaderboard they're talking about! And who am I competing with??
Or, "Cartwheel Developer: Boring life? Be a dev unlocks 1 offer spot" Say what?

You have to scan everything in your basket. No you don't. You just pick out your coupons before you go to the store. No scanning is required at all. The scanning is the search function, if you *want* to search to see if a coupon applies to a product. It is NOT something you *have* to do. And you certainly don't have to do it to every item you buy.

I shop with a list, even at Target, so I pre-plan my Cartwheel as well. Once I arrive at the store, I don't want to stay longer than necessary, even if it is a store I like. So I fill up my offer slots from home to avoid needing to scan things at the store too often.

My lifetime savings is only $191 over 3 years. However, I don't find it arduous because I typically am purchasing the same things. Usually there is an additional discount on a lot of the Simply Balanced food brands, which I buy. Up&Up items are also usually an extra % off as is Quilted NOrthern. There are some special larger discounts as mentioned above.

Also go to www.totallytarget.com. They have the deals worked out for you including all the coupon match ups and cartwheel offers. Remember you can stack coupons.

I have the app on my phone. it has a scan feature, and if i'm in there I pull out my phone, activate the app and scan the item I need to buy anyways. I don't search out deals, unless it's the halloween costume one they had a couple of weeks ago. That's more preventative on my end to keep myself from buying stuff I don't need but it's on sale so I "need" it. I've saved some money on it, enough that it's worth it to me - but that's literally because I'm scanning items I need anyways.
They also do really good toy deals at the holidays, if that's on your list. I've scored a couple of great deals over the years either by price matching or using the deal of the day there.

It's also one of the few ways you can save on Lego frequently. Done this before too. They will also price match with places like Toys R Us when they do their one day sales, much easier than fighting the crowds and I'd rather give target my money anyways.

Just beware to check your receipt... my costume didn't ring up 40% last night, so I had to go back in and get it corrected (I believe you only have 24 hours to change)... I saved over $13!!!
