From time to time an update for Windows 10 will take forever. If you feel it has had enough time to be finished - in this case it was over night - this is what our service provider had Alice do today. This may have to be repeated 3 times before it releases you from Win10 Hell. Either unplug or hold down the power button until the computer powers down. Unplug all USB connections to your PC Wait 5-10 minutes - Do NOT reconnect the USB's Attempt to restart your PC If your PC is still in the update mode, power off again If your PC starts normally, then plug your USB's back in. You should be able to go back to normal usage. This recommended same about unplugging USB's www.thewindowsclub.com/windows-10-upgrade-hangsWindows 10 Upgrade or Install hangs - The Windows Club www.thewindowsclub.comIf your Windows 10 upgrade hangs or is stuck & has failed, during installation or while checking for updates, then this post will help you troubleshoot the issue.

Thank you for sharing this. I happen to like Win10, but it's certainly not without its problems!

this happened to me yesterday!! I thought I had gotten one of those blue screen crashes but nope, just a pesky Windows 10 update. it took several restarts but I finally got it to finish and unlock. I had to find a way to stop the automatic updates from happening. we will see if they work.
