Do you pinch off the mold and use the bread or throw it out? DH always throws it away and he's not germophobic or picky at all. I just cut myself a slice and in the area where the bread machine paddle goes, there was a tiny spot of fuzzy green. I picked it off along with some of the bread that was around it, inspected the rest thoroughly, and when I didn't see any more I sliced the rest and put it in the freezer. What do you do?

I'd toss it. I'd be wondering what was there I couldn't see.

Out it goes. I saw a guy lose his entire face from bread mould spores that got into his nasal cavity. (I don't know if it was true or not as it was on Ripley's Believe it or Not) but after that I wasn't taking any chances!

Unless I saw mold elsewhere, I'd probably just pinch it off and eat it. I wouldn't freeze it for later.

I toss it. I assume it's all infested with spores that aren't visible to me. And I don't consider myself a germaphobe either.

Throw it out. I would be afraid there was more that I couldn't see and I hate the taste of mold. Funny because I love blue cheese....but that has cheese in it so it's o.k.

Toss it. Something as porous as bread shouldn't be consumed.
Not to mention, it's just gross.

Toss. If it is growing there are more that you can't see. Now cheese, because of the nature of it, if it is a hard cheese I will cut a half inch off where the mold is and use the rest.

I would toss it all, assuming there was more growing but not yet visible.

DH would pinch it off and use the rest. I would not. I think there are mold spores there that you can't see, especially in very porous foods. Cheese is about the only thing where I would cut off a moldy area and be okay with using it (and even then, I say I will do that but in reality, I don't.)

This was on one of those lists that goes around occasionally...should you eat the green crisps (chips) etc. And with bread it's quite safe to remove some little mouldy areas and eat the rest. I do when necessary, no harm done.

Absolutely toss it. In my house, moldy good is dangerous because DH is allergic to mold, but he's colorblind and cannot see it.

I toss it. I just can't eat something after I've removed fuzzy green spots from it. I'm not a germaphobe at all.

It depends. If it's in the morning and I am making my lunch (and there is no other bread), I will pinch it off and use it. If I can get to store before I need bread, I will toss it.

Toss it all and then not have any appetite for bread for a couple of weeks.
I'm grossed out easily when it comes to food.

I toss it for sure. Years ago I remember reading something about mold and remember that things like hard cheeses you can cut off the moldy section and use it but bread was one that you had to toss. I don't remember all the ins and outs as to why.

Tiny speck in just one spot? Pre-sliced bread, I toss the slice and the ones on either side of it for good measure. If it's bread I have to slice, I either pinch it off or cut around it.
More than one spot? Yeah, it gets tossed.
We're all still alive and healthy.

I'm not at all grossed out as long as the visible mold is gone and there's no moldy taste permeating it. On the other hand, I think that mold flavor goes all through the cheese. If it's just starting to grow on cheese, I'll trim it off and eat. But if it's been there for a while, it doesn't matter how much you cut off, the flavor is still there.

Trim it off and eat. I would gross you guys out if I told you some of the questionable stuff I've eaten. But I'm still here and never have gotten sick so it's all good.

I'd run to the trash with it in my as-far-as-possible outstretched hand like a big wimp and toss it, all the while choking back my gag reflex. My mom used to cut mold off cheese and hand it to me, and I didn't think a thing about it, and I turned out fine, but mold and fruit flies and close-to-the-sell-by-date milk just gross me out.

I can smell a bread getting ready to turn, so a day or 2 before mold is there I can already smell it. If I can see any at all, I already know it smells bad and it will get fed to the chickens.

I would toss it. Mostly, because I would be sure I could smell mold on the rest of the bread.

You know, part of it to me is that I tend to be a worrier. It may be highly unlikely that there would be a problem but I would worry about it for days. My peace of mind is worth the cost of a loaf of bread. (or whatever the offending food is at any given time)
