I am sooooo sick of all of the crap. All of the board bitching. All of the stupid media. All of the stupid tv shows. I've stopped watching the Today Show or any news at all and I can't even read the newspaper anymore. I hate all of the candidates and I think we are all going to be screwed no matter which idiot wins. They both make me sick and I can't even fathom the thought of having to listening to either one of them talking for the next 4 years.
I think this election has done more to damage to divide this country and it's not even over yet.
Ugh!!! 😑

I don't watch any of it, nor do I read anything about it. Everyone is crazy and I just want it to be over so life can go on.

I can't wait until next Monday. I am going to early vote so that I don't feel bad ignoring any of the "breaking news."

I totally agree - the country is more divided than I have ever seen it. I will early vote as soon as I can get to the polls beginning next week.

I actually have decided that, beginning tomorrow when I wake up, I'm giving up the TV news and the front section of the newspaper. Of course I'll still read the comics because...well, priorities you know. And I'll read the section that's local news. But no more election. I am seriously going to do this because it is seriously becoming depressing. I have enough stress at work, so I'm making my home peaceful. eta: It's now "tomorrow when I wake up" and I'm sitting here with the TV off, enjoying my coffee with a lovely breeze and peace and quiet coming in my window. I read my email and learned that a friend's new grandbaby FINALLY arrived. I checked here and read a few threads that had nothing to do with politics. I checked Facebook and did NOT click on any of the political articles that were linked by various people overnight. Instead I went to my pressure cooker FB group, and my zentangle FB group, and my women's clergy FB group (where political posts are highly discouraged, except in the context of pastoral care for church members). Now I'm going to get ready to walk my dog. Yes, I did come to this thread but not to read anything, only to edit my comment. Between now and the election I am not opening any more political comments.

And it's not even just the presidential race. A lot of the state and local races are really nasty with a lot of lies on both sides. I am sick of it all.,

I'm right there with you. It's pretty rare for me to open a political thread anymore and I have definitely been avoiding the news and will continue to do so. What I can't get away from are the Facebook posts and random snide comments about either candidate from acquaintances and family members. It wouldn't be so bad if everyone could just shut up and vote for whoever they wanted to.

I agree. I have no issues on here on other social media outlets since it's easy to just scroll by but we went to dinner a few weeks ago and I was so excited about having a nice evening out...I kid you not a verbal fight broke out between two tables because one guy was discussing Bernie Sanders (he's not even running anymore right?! Lol) and a table of Clinton supporters heard the Sanders table and didn't like what the Sanders table had to say. It was a mess.

I'm right there with you as well. I'm a news junkie, but for now I just stay away from everything political, here on the board and IRL. It's not a matter of sticking my head in the sand...there is just nothing positive, constructive or new out there. Either way this election goes, I fear for our country. They are both truly awful people.

OP, I'd like your original post 1000x, if I could. I don't get much of it on facebook, but the level of vitriol, name calling, and just plain outright bitchiness on this board is pretty horrible. There are posters that I've previously kind of liked and now I really find myself thinking...wow, what a total and complete asshat. This goes for supporters of both candidates, however there is one faction here that seems to be noticeably bigger and noisier than the other so that I've added more people to my "asshat" list from that camp for now.
I also think both candidates 100% suck, are not good people at all, and we are screwed either way.

Go watch This is Us or Pitch - two great shows! Or read a good book and tell us about it. Explore some trails now that it's cooler out. There's plenty to do!!!

Same, i'm not one who generally watches the news or any politics so i've avoided that pretty well. But facebook and this board are flooded with political posts. I've blocked a lot of people on facebook that keep posting stuff and am generally just don't open what I don't want to here....but I will be so glad when we move on to a new topic around here

I hate to break it to you, but once the actual voting part is over...it won't be over. If Trump wins it will be ongoing chaos as he pisses of one country after another and makes your country an increased target. If Clinton wins Trump and his supporters aren't going to give up and will keep going on about the emails and will keep bringing up her husband's sex issues. She will never be left in peace to do the job as she wants to/should do it and Trump isn't capable of doing it.
Whatever happens going forward it's going to be a rocky 4 years ahead and I think it will create a great deal of political unrest in the USA and if Trump wins, globally.

Yeah, I agree. This won't ever be over. It will be like the birthers clamoring for more and better proof that Pres. Obama was born in the US forever and a day. No matter who wins, I can only imagine the constant outcry we'll be hearing from those who voted against the winner.
And that's not even touching how the new president does their job. That's just the sour grapes aspect of things.

Doesn't someone post this every 4 years!??!!?
I don't think it will be over once the election is done either. Trump loses, he's going to go apeshit and he will not rest for the 4 years HRC is in office. Look at how he still brings up Rosie O'Donnell every chance he gets. It's not going to stop when it's all counted and said.

I am married to a certain news channel junkie. We wake up to the news and he goes to sleep with it on that channel. Thank God for ear plugs and eye masks!! I was shaking my head this morning over something and he asked why I was doing that. I told him I wish we could travel 2 weeks forward and be done so the pre-election mess would be over. Then we could time travel 4 yrs forward. He asked what good would that do. At least I wouldn't have to live through the after election mess that this nation would be in. Either way, it is not going to be pretty. Either way, mud, accucations, falsehoods, etc, etc, etc... will be thrown and our country will NOT be able to move forward due the which ever side losing and blocking whatever good the winning side might try to do. The country deserves whatever they get. Ok, now I need to go grab my coffee and finish getting ready while my BP gets back down to it's high normal. Good thing for meds....
